More Beach Problems
It's like the thugs of all colors have discovered the Happy Hunting Grounds where no police exist:
- Police responded to North Avenue Beach Friday afternoon for reports of a large disturbance, marking the second incident at the popular Chicago beach in this week.
Police officers were at the scene of the unusually crowded beach just before 3 p.m. near 1600 N. Lake Shore Dr. Police said the group appeared to be intoxicated.
Fire officials said authorities were called to the scene for an adult battery victim and three sick minors. Four ambulances were requested. Ambulances took all four to local hospitals, fire officials said. Their conditions were not immediately known.
[...] Police were also called to the popular beach on Memorial Day for a large brawl. Video from the scene showed a large group of people fighting for several minutes.
- The Chicago Police Department said it has no plans to increase patrols along the lakefront after a massive brawl broke out at North Avenue Beach on Memorial Day.
Chicago police had to shut down the beach because the crowd became too large. Some who frequent the beach are wondering if it could happen again.

Beach scuffles are a common right of passage for youth in the summer, along with intoxication. They do not require a large number of police. Coastal areas don't devote lots of police to beach patrol.

The city is falling into criminal chaos from the southside to the westside to the Gold Coast to the lake front. No place is safe for citizen or tourist. I am thinking it is going to be worth the drive up North to avoid the trash throwing human scum washed up on the beaches this summer.
The media finally reports problem at North Avenue Beach - only because it involved White kids.
Their collection of beach clips has to show a black male rushing to 'break it up' - when he was probably ready to jump into the fistfight.
News channels also has to interview quiet, peace-loving black individuals 'disgusted by this behavior. We came here to enjoy our day and these 'thugs' ruined it for us! They was steppin' on our blankets!' (Bad White people reporting at its finest.)

Hey RAHM, remember all that squad cars that were promised but were replaced by bikes? Here's a hint - deploy them to the beach. Then have them ride up to Wrigleyville to hold Sticky Buns Tunney's hand. If they still have energy - have them swing by the Gold Coast and Michigan Ave. Have the platoon led by Steve Georges so he can lose a few pounds.

Define "beefed up"? A few extra foot guys or an extra car at the beach? If North Ave beach has thousands of people and a fight breaks out, what are two or three officers going to do? If officers saw potential danger and took proactive steps, everyone would video them and complain. Talking to a few potential problem or "justice involved individuals" will require ISR's and hours of paperwork in the station. For what? In the past, gang members avoided the beach. Now they are welcomed and I assumed fully armed. Stay fetal my friends.

Usually spend the day at the lakefront with the kids for my birthday. This year my retired hubs said we're heading to Milwaukee.

I certainly don't. I avoid the Shitty like the plague that it has become. I rarely venture downtown for clients, park in the garages, and get the hell out ASAP. I don't buy anything in the Shitty. I carry, bring a backup firearm, and extra mags - I hope not to use it, but I'd rather have it than not ya know?

You can bet those phone cameras are already being put to use, filming the sun-drenched frivolity of assault/battery, sexual assault, and illegal drug use. Promontory Point actually had little cement-and-steel barbecue grills. Used to go out there with parents and friends, through the underpass and always rubbed the deer statue's nose at the water fountain for luck. Cook a few hot dogs, run around in the dark with my little flashlight and scream. It was...quiet, normal, wonderful, just a little break for working people from the neighborhood.
After 1964, all bets were off. Park suddenly unusable, impassable, dangerous, full of drug dealers and guys beating huge tribal drums until people blocks away were raising hell about the noise. Saw 10-15 squads (we had just got the blue-and-whites) 4-deep going up 55th like crazy to a 10-1 there one night. Gangs of 20 on bicycles with extra riders included so they could snatch your family's bikes if you went to sit on the rocks for a while. Sex perverts cavorting on the 57th St. Beach, and crews with their heavy leather belts off marching around looking to lash someone.
So where do I apply for "reparations" from the a__holes who destroyed my family's routine of life and quality of life and made half the city impassable?

Summers, used to end up at one East Coast ocean beach that had a State Police observation tower. They were real serious about behavior there. It was real safe.

It's a sad situation when I'm taking my family to Gary Indiana versus a beach in Chicago. It's safer, cleaner and no hassle to park.

Beach communities absolutely devote a significant portion of their policing to those beaches that bring their communities the tourists that spend all their money there.

When I grew up, CPD patrolled the lakefront paths on the old 45 cu. in. Harley trikes. There was generally an officer not too far off...

appears members of Sigma Alfa Epsilon (SAE) fraternity with the red fight jerseys (sleeves and pits cut out) from an Chicago area university were largely involved. Look at the number of red jerseys. The tall guy in white had to take on several. After all, they can only be tough in numbers. I think a letter to the SAE national headquarters and the police detectives making some calls to area colleges and universities to identify the culprits, may help in preventing this shit from continuing to happen. After all, there's all that video out there, the initial one clearly identifies a few of the idiots. Those involved, and they've surely been bragging to their friends, have identifiable cuts and bruises, breaks.
