We cannot blame those numbers on headquarters personnel. We can put the blame on George W. and the republican war on minorities. Trump also may have had some influence.

You said it, who does performance evaluations on these bosses? And what criteria would you use for evaluation? Crime numbers are through the roof, and still rising! Department citizen relations are terrible, morale among Department members is at an all time low. Cheating scandals, bosses being forced to retire, coppers facing separation, coppers getting stripped, Department training is an embarrassment, Department equipment is cheap and often broken. Isn't the Supt. and his crew ultimately responsible for all this? I'd say this is a "doesn't meet expectations" all around!

Still have jobs? These morons are getting rewarded and promoted! Only in Chicago can go miserably fail at your occupation and get moved to a higher occupation and paid more money. Only in Chicago can you allegedly knowingly and with you seal of approval allow your subordinates to violate your department policy and then be promoted and awarded with a large sum of cash flow for a lifetime. I would guess the only reason a person would do that would be to keep them quiet!
Blame Bush or Trump? I hope you're just trying to be funny. Anyhow, you failed. How about blaming Obama? Surely sending Whitehouse representatives to the funerals of criminals didn't help. Sending the DOJ to "investigate" Officers and Police Departments involved in the justified shooting of only one race didn't help. Or only when the Officer was one race and the suspect one of his sons.
I'm not saying the Police were right in every single case but in every single case you can bet your ass the suspect was not complying with the lawful orders of the Police Officer.
How about putting the blame on the uneducated, unemployable, unwashed asshole pointing a gun and pulling the trigger?

51 muders in 18 days, not quite three per day. Grew up in the Marquette Park area. Left in 1966, graduated from college and got my draft notice. All my relatives lived in Gage Park, Chicago Lawn and West Lawn and all left Chicago by mid 1990's. My most recent visit was in 2013 and I do not miss the city I live in a small city that has 60% the population of Chicago Lawn or 50% that of Englewood. Had our first homicide this year. Group of young men drinking beer and smoking weed. Police did nail two criminals last year, one just killed a man in anther city and decided to shoot it out here --he lost. Another decided to shoot it out with the cops over a disturbance and lost. The next previous homicide in the city was 12 years ago. How Chicago puts up the numbers of killed and wounded is more like a war zone. For all those in the police and fire departments, stay safe and God bless you all.

Anybody remember the daily body count in Viet Nam? They always gave a number in the morning on AFR and we never really paid any attention to it. If the number was higher than the day before, that was nice. But it didn't really matter to many of us. Tour days left. Now that was a number everyone paid attention to. I see that here posted sometimes. Reminds me of the good old days. When I was young.
And nothing is said by the media about it. Must be a gag order.
