Officer Wounded

  • A man out on parole for armed robbery shot at and grazed a Chicago police officer investigating a possible carjacking Tuesday night on the Far South Side, authorities said.

The man was driving a car that matched one reported stolen earlier in the evening when the officer and his partner spotted him in the 600 block of East 100th Place just after 10 p.m., police said.

The officers tried to stop him, but the man stuck a gun out the window and fired shots at the squad car, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department. One bullet struck the squad car and grazed an officer in the face, it said.

Officers in another car returned fire, and the suspect fired several times at the second police car, police Superintendent Eddie Johnson said.

[Johnson immediately stripped all the officers involved and confiscated their cell phones.]
We may have added that last part.

Officer is having his face attended to. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Officer was grazed. This is cook county. Simple battery. Charges will then be dropped because a graze wound can't be tied to the offender's gun.

Sadly, I'm only half-joking.

On a serious note, thank god no one was hurt more severely. I'm sure we all realize that an inch or two could mean the difference between a trip to the hospital and another police funeral. Good work by the officers involved. Too bad the offender lived.

Unfortunately, he/she/they didn't receive the notice to remain 'fetal.'
Note: Remind officers involved in this incident.

Why were the Good Guys trying to stop a felony in progress? Isn't that against department policy? Everyone around the Chicago area knows that if the felon shoots at the Good Guys, the Good Guys are not supposed to shoot back. The felon might get killed and that isn't nice. In this case and all like it, the felon's Force Continuum policy is to be respected. The Mayor, the Brass, DOJ, and many more have stated this more than once. Now we have a Good Guy wounded because he didn't listen. I hope the Good Guys don't get in too much trouble over this. Just remember to respect the felon's force continuum policy. The Good Guys don't have a right to that policy anymore, especially in Chicago.

Glad you're ok Office...

The Police go home to their families and loved ones
no matter what. Pandering to the noisy few who have
been camera-tricked/photo-shopped into a million
man mob demanding naked revenge that is scantily
disguised as "Justice" because they're wholly unable
to take a seat at the table with the rest of civilized
society and affix their seal to the "Social Contract"
we're all bound to by virtue of being co-inhabitants
on this madly spinning celestial mudball with a
heavy metal core and orbiting a nearby star...

They're wholly unable to wrap their heads around this
and all that it implies.

No insight.
No introspection.

Just debasement, evil, savagery, willful ignorance
and brutishness which they're more than happy to
inflict on the rest of everybody else.

If the rest of society were as evolved, informed
and enlightened as they praise themselves for being,
they would be taking great pains to render this
malignant sub-set unable to inflict their misery
on the rest of everybody else.

Then curtail the actions of those who aid, abet and enable.

Meanwhile... The Police are the problem and are in need
of being "reformed" because the perpetually aggrieved classes
need something to hide their pathologies behind.

Anything to avoid being accountable for THEIR actions.

Such child-like thinking...
And the mayor of this city has cynically ceded control
of a Police Department to these adult children in order
to save his own worthless, stinking, sissy-weasel hide...

Hey Rahm!
"Sticking it in the Cops ear" isn't working
out so well eh? Stealing over a Billion dollars
from training and equipment to enrich your
corporate cronies and put on a bogus show
of overlaying corporate bean-counterism
on something that has a messy and unpredictable
end-user base like Policing, worked out well,
didn't it?

Rahm Emanuel THOUGHT he was smarter than
everybody else when he decided to parachute
into Chicago after FLOTUS and Valerie Jarrett
ran his nasty, classist, bigoted, sexist,
no social filter/social grace having ass
out of the White House.

"Chicago Tough-Guy Rahm Emanuel"
Bullshit... A bully and coward is what
the malignant manling is.

Police like you have no friends.
Take decisive action only when
there are no other options.
Protect each other.
Keep your Policecraft to yourselves
until days get better.

Years ago I would have said, "Great job! Get well quick. Go get them again."

Now, I say, "Get well. I hope that bullet to the face woke all of you up. One PO almost had his head blown off.
Three other officers were also shot at. ALL FOR A STOLEN CAR! The car owner won't be happy. The offender crashed the car. The offender was taken into custody "a short time later." What will the body camera/car camera reveal? What is the matter with you? Don't you watch the news? Don't you read the blog? Don't you listen to senior officers? Why are you risking it all: life, prison, job for a stolen car???"

For all you shit house lawyers, I read that they were responding to a carjacking. I wish I had a dollar for every carjacking call that was really a domestic, repo, or some other drama. I really hope all involved officers "dodge the bullet" (pun intended) and nothing bad happens to them. My point is, now is not the time to be the "real police."

Tribune just put out a story where Emmanuel is separating himself from what's going to happen to the coppers in the McDonald shooting. To me this means they are going to keep their jobs. I'm guessing they will be suspended anywhere from 6 months to 18 months or more. Emmanuel is either trying to separate himself from that happening or he is trying to save face to the rank and file saying he has no place in the decision in the firing of the coppers. I think they are gonna get huge suspensions but not fired.. Not all of them at least.

OT --

Black Lives Matter cashes in with $100 million from liberal foundations

"For all its talk of being a street uprising, Black Lives Matter is increasingly awash in cash, raking in pledges of more than $100 million from liberal foundations and others eager to contribute to what has become the grant-making cause du jour.

"The Ford Foundation and Borealis Philanthropy recently announced the formation of the Black-Led Movement Fund [BLMF], a six-year pooled donor campaign aimed at raising $100 million for the Movement for Black Lives coalition.

"That funding comes in addition to more than $33 million in grants to the Black Lives Matter movement from top Democratic Party donor George Soros through his Open Society Foundations, as well as grant-making from the Center for American Progress.

"The BLMF provides grants, movement building resources, and technical assistance to organizations working advance the leadership and vision of young, Black, queer, feminists and immigrant leaders who are shaping and leading a national conversation about criminalization, policing and race in America,” said the Borealis announcement.

"In doing so, however, the foundations have aligned themselves with the staunch left-wing platform of the Movement for Black Lives [which] calls for defunding police departments, race-based reparations, voting rights for illegal immigrants, fossil-fuel divestment, an end to private education and charter schools, a “universal basic income,” and free college for blacks.

"The grab-bag platform combined with the staggering underwriting commitment offer more evidence that Black Lives Matter is being used as a conduit for left-wing politics as usual.

"It’s about time people woke up to the fact that big money is using people as pawns to stoke racial hatred and further their global agenda," said the Federalist Papers Project’s C.E. Dyer.

"Bill Johnson, executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, said corporations and others may want to think twice about partnering with the Ford Foundation, the fifth-largest U.S. philanthropy with $12.4 billion in assets.

"The Ford Foundation has traditionally been leftist, at least since the 1970s, on law-enforcement matters. So it’s not a huge surprise, but it’s certainly disappointing," said Mr. Johnson. “I guess potential donors may want to look at the [Black Lives Matter] movement and see the damage, destruction and murders that they’ve left in their wake."

Judge, " well seeing as how you were really shooting at the police cars and there is no reason to not believe your testimony, the charges of felonies will be dropped and you will be found guilty of Criminal Damage to City Property. Time considered served. Also I will not revoke your parole. Too many men of color in our prisons. Have to do everything to keep them out of the system. Have a nice day."

Maybe a CPD version of the famous Patton Prayer is needed. Instead of praying for good weather in order to reach Bastogne and rescue the 101st Airborne, the Chaplain should pray for a few feet of snow with 10 foot drifts to chill out the Amish. They see it on New York cop shows and they think it's the right way to refer to our cars. (Remember, they move all over the country, snagging whatever reporting job they can til they can break into a bigger market.)
'Cruiser' sounds as wrong as 'bus' and 'precinct'. New York PD would be offended by attributing our phrasing and codes and vernacular to them and I think we have a right to point that out.

HELLO, MEDIA --- We call them 'squad cars'. You might call them response vehicles or patrol cars, but don't EVER call them 'cruisers' here in Chicago. Eeeeeew.

As a concerned citizen who reads this blog regularly. Why has pursuits become like the holy water to cops not only in this city but cities all over. When did it become ok for a cop to attempt a stop...get shot at...then let the offender escape? I don't regard rapist, molesters, & people who shot at cops in high regard....you shoot at a cop for any reason you my friend show you would kill me without hesitation. I feel you guys should be allowed to chase & any collateral damage should be pinned on suspect & his family. I would hate for somebody to kill my mom or something & get away because pursuit was terminated. That pursuit might've been the one & only chance to make a case. I hope things get better soon. As a retired member of the NYPD, I'm going to say it once again. We do NOT call marked NYPD squad cars "cruisers". We universally refer to the vehicle as an RMP, short for Radio Motor Patrol.

For the sake of brevity, we also prefer using monosyllables (i.e., "bus" for ambulance and "perp" for offender, etc.)

"Members of Black Lives Matter (BLM) met behind closed doors with Democracy Alliance, a coterie of wealthy liberals who have pledged to fund leftist organizations.

"The donor club was founded by former Clinton Treasury official Rob Stein. Members include the billionaire “philanthropist” George Soros, Taco Bell silver spoon baby Rob McKay, uber liberal Norman Lear, “meathead” Rob Reiner, co-founder of Tides Network Drummond Pike, SEIU boss Anna Burger (members of the union like to beat up opponents), and former Rockefeller Family Fund president Anne Bartley.

“The DA, as the club is known in Democratic circles, is recommending its donors step up check writing to a handful of endorsed groups that have supported the Black Lives Matter movement.

"Investigative journalist James Simpson has exposed connections between BLM and a constellation of leftist and Marxist groups, a number of them established as fronts by the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO).

“BLM is one of many projects undertaken by the FRSO,” writes Simpson. He points out that FRSO and BLM receive funding through the National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA). “FRSO/BLM organizations are generously supported by a universe of wealthy foundations. Some, like those employing BLM founders [Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi] receive money directly.”

"Many FRSO connected leftist and Marxist groups are also funded by other wealthy individuals, foundations, and corporations, including Kellogg, Ben & Jerry’s, Soros Funds, Hewlett, Rockefeller, Heinz, and others.

"The Ford Foundation tops the list of NDWA financial contributors."

What the fuck are you talking about?
Car-jacking is more than a theft, you can chase for it.
Shooting at the police is also something you can chase for.
Are you seriously this fucking dumb? No wonder you want the white shirt to hold your hand while you find your dick.

Founded by Fords, yes, long ago. Independent of the car company now.

Why do the media, particularly ABC 7 refer to COD vehicles as "Cruiser". We have squad cars; Cruiser is the east coast trrm. This shows how clueless the media in this city has become.

8/17/2016 10:11:00 PM

They see it on New York cop shows and they think it's the right way to refer to our cars. (Remember, they move all over the country, snagging whatever reporting job they can til they can break into a bigger market.)
'Cruiser' sounds as wrong as 'bus' and 'precinct'. New York PD would be offended by attributing our phrasing and codes and vernacular to them and I think we have a right to point that out.

HELLO, MEDIA --- We call them 'squad cars'. You might call them response vehicles or patrol cars, but don't EVER call them 'cruisers' here in Chicago. Eeeeeew.

The chase almost ended with an Officer being seriously injured or dead. The officer was lucky, thank God. The pursuing Officers will not call off the chase because they have adrenaline going and tunnel vision. A Car-jacking is more than a theft. It's a robbery. Yes you can chase but should you?

This is why an experienced supervisor must ask, 1. Reason for the chase if not known.
2. How fast are you traveling? (saying 20MPH is a dead give away) Any other occupants in the vehicle? This supervisor or any supervisor must and should make the determination to terminate the chase before the officers get shot at. Before the offender or pursuing officers run a citizen over. Before someone crashes into another vehicle which could be a squad car. Causing serious injury. The reason for this pursuit does not justify the continuation until the officer gets shot at. It should not have gotten to this point.

Wake the fuck up! It,s not worth it!

Your cruiser be waiting at the curb, Sir.

"Felonious my old friend
Step on in and let me shake your hand
So glad that you're here again
For one more time
Let your madness run with mine
Streets still unseen we'll find somehow
No time is better than now

[Chorus:]
Tell me where are you driving
Midnight cruiser
Where is your bounty
Of fortune and fame
I am another
Gentlemen loser
Drive me to Harlem
Or somewhere the same

The world that we used to know
People tell me it don't turn no more
The places we used to go
Familiar faces that ain't smilin' like before
The time of our time has come and gone
I fear we been waiting too long

[Chorus)

Turn this here up and get your sweet wife running down the basement. You'll end up dancing.

God bless you, Sir, and thank you for your Service.

"1. Reason for the chase if not known."

GAAAhahaha.

Who, me, what, why, where.

Never broke my old habit of reflexively chasing passing cars. New, old, cocktail party in convertible, all same.

Missing a couple legs and my tail and got some permanent weeping abrasions patterned like Goodyear All-Weather Supertread, though.

I don't f__ing listen. Crashing out from under the rotting porch like a rocket and straight-line trajectory through what's left of the 80-year-old thornbushes, that's me, whenever I hear rubber squeak.

"1. Reason for the chase if not known."

WAAAAAAAhahahaha.

"Not known." Perfect. Just check the box, leave the space behind blank, and let me die in peace.

AAAAAAhahaha.

You kids got no idea.

BCP, where are ya when I need ya most?

AAAAAhaha.

Seriously, do what needs so badly to be done, if you can see your way clear, and God bless you and keep you safe if you try it. You may barely escape the consequences of doing what you thought you signed on for.

To the officers involved, I'm glad to see there are still heroes out there that are balled up int the corner like some pouting child.
