Incompetence on Display

  • The agency responsible for reviewing all shootings by Chicago police officers has no record of having investigated six shootings in recent years, according to a critical report from the city's inspector general.

Inspector General Joseph Ferguson found that the Independent Police Review Authority had no record of looking into six shootings in which officers fired their guns but didn't hit anyone, according to the report obtained by the Tribune through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The inspector general wrote that it was unclear if the Police Department failed to notify IPRA of the shootings or IPRA's recordkeeping was to blame.
Well, since OEMC keeps tapes of everything AND they have a checklist of notifications that are required every time an officer uses a Taser, OC Spray, or a gun AND they call IPRA as a matter of course regularly on every single shooting scene, we're going to say it's IPRA's sloppiness coming to the forefront. Again.

IPRA immediately blamed the Department. Obviously. Might as well kick the Department while it's down - you might never get another opportunity, and besides, IPRA is reopening long closed cases in a desperate attempt to find any procedural error to hang on coppers. Toss half-a-dozen shootings in there, too.

When they discover that their investigators responded to scenes, interrogated arrestees, interviewed coppers and took statements, we're sure they'll apologize.

But they will be happy to hang an officer that makes an error of judgment.

When critical matters are foremost, you can count on a civilian run political agency to be on top of it.
It's like the Post Office...pay for Priority Mail and it get delivery just as late as regular mail by the same carrier.
I said it before, ain't nobody gonna get up at 0300 and go to no crime scene in a big ass hurry-hurry.
It's just not right that there ain't no macdonalds open then.

One of their criminal investigators probably just took some files home and gave them to a gang member. Don't worry.
