A couple disturbing incidents out East today. First, a Military event targeted in New Jersey:
- A pipe bomb exploded in a New Jersey shore town Saturday shortly before thousands of runners were to participate in a charity 5K race to benefit Marines and sailors.
No injuries were reported in the blast in Seaside Park around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s office. He said no surrounding structures were damaged.
The FBI has taken over that investigation and reports are a number of other devices were "neutralized," either by the initial blast of by police.

- Police and firefighters are at the scene of a possible explosion in New York City.
The Fire Department says the blast was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday on West 23rd Street in the Chelsea section of Manhattan.
No information about injuries or about the extent of the damage was immediately available.
Upwards of 25 people have been injured.

First device apparently went off in a steel dumpster, looks like the mangled dumpster may have been blown all the way across the street. A second device found in a plastic bag, apparent pressure-cooker bomb with wires and cell phone attached, I believe the bomb robot is picking it apart now.
"Intentional, but no connection to terrorism and no credible threat," insists De Blasio...

Very lucky here, start of race was delayed while police investigated a "suspicious unattended backpack," otherwise people would have been running past that area. Placed in a plastic garbage can curbside, which it shredded, bomb fragments reportedly thrown over 150 feet.
Apparently two other pipe bombs were found in area and neutralized.

Strange was unable to find any info via the media about attempted bombing of the Marine marathon at 1400 hrs. Yet this incident occurred early in the morning, media keeping it quiet to help the Democratic party?

Here is something about the NYC event I find VERY troubling -
Watching the Nine O'Clock News on WGN on Saturday night when this was all happening in NYC, WGN did NOT talk about it AT ALL.
First they talked about Chicago violence and killing, then the Basketball Event at "the Ark" (St. Sabina's), then some other stuff - and no "Breaking News".
WTF? Flipping channels from CNN to Fox Cable News to MSNBC - they ALL had live coverage. (after 9:15PM I just watched the cable channels and left WGN to cover whatever "neighborhood festival" or recipe they had.)
Did WGN even know anything was happening? Are they SO scripted as to "reading stories" they could not cut in and point out the bombing in NYC?
What I got out of this odd experience is that depending on what you watch, you really are NOT kept up with "breaking events".
Would be nice if one of the "News/ Media Trolls" who reads SCC would explain this to us?
Add in a probable stabbing attack in Saint Cloud Mn. Eight stabbed, stabber shot by off duty officer.

As details slowly emerge -- the dumpster containing the first device was standing behind a row of those portable concrete street barriers, and there is one photo of the barrier displaced at least six feet out of line towards the middle of the street, and knocked over on its front. That was no cherry bomb in there. Windows blown out all over the area, people knocked out of their chairs, car windows blown out.
That mangled steel dumpster was indeed hurled all the way across the street, onto the opposite sidewalk.
The second pressure cooker bomb found a few blocks away -- with the cell phone taped to it -- has been confirmed to have been live. Authorities say it would have had a "wide blast radius."
Precisely the sort of "lone wolf" attack that Daesh has been encouraging --

I agree with you 100%. But you forgot to mention how President Obama abandoned our number #1 ally in the world- Israel. Now, we have two candidates running for President who also are not pro-Israel. This is a disaster.

Citizens, be proactive and if you see any thing, call 911 with a full description and a full description of the possible offenders. This is how you fully describe an offender, from top to bottom. Hair color/if they are wearing a hat if so what color and what type and what logo is on it. Eye color if you notice it, skin complexion, clothing on the top part of the body (color, logos, type like sweater, t shirt, etc.) and clothing on the bottom part of the body and shoe color and shoe style. Then what direction they are either walking or if they are in a car.
If you are going to a public event, always be aware of the entry points and exit points.

In the 1990's We had two bombs placed at the military recruiting center at Cicero and Byron. One was under a military car and burned it up. Another was found unexploded in a shopping bag at the front door of the USMC office. A letter taped to the back door from Puerto Rican nationalists claimed responsibility.
