Hire Everyone!

  • Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson is seeking to remove a man from the department’s list of potential future police officers, citing his previous arrests in incidents of alleged domestic violence.

In a Monday Circuit Court filing, Johnson said the city’s Board of Human Resources incorrectly reversed the police department’s April 2015 decision to remove a man from its list of people eligible to become probationary police officers.

The man is not currently on the city’s payroll.

Johnson said the police department initially removed the man from consideration because he had twice previously been arrested in incidents of domestic violence, once in 2003 and again in 2014.
The first good thing Special Ed did was point out that unless the system keeps gun offenders behind bars, then they are going to continue to shoot and kill.

Attempting to keep known domestic abusers with criminal records off the Department is the second.

The Board of Human Resources though has been forcing the Department to hire (and re-hire) each and every single person who files an appeal after being removed or terminated for failing some stage of training:
  • Say you fail the classroom exercises and are removed from the Academy? Appeal to the Board of Human Resources and you get retreaded;
  • You fail the gym? Appeal it and get reinstated;
  • Control Tactics? State Exam? Course of Fire? There are recruits who have failed each of these stages and appealed to the Board of Human Resources and been reinstated. It's 100% true. The Academy is NOT ALLOWED to fail anyone over the past two years.
Even a long term medical condition that would negate you being able to drive a squad car and fire a weapon is not a hurdle to the Board of Human Resources forcing the Academy to instruct and pass you, putting not only other Officers at risk, but the entire population of the City of Chicago should you be required to utilize your sidearm.

We'll bet we get a dozen comments about that paragraph.

I got DQ from the CPD process last year because I was fired from a menial job I had back in 2004. I was a no call, no show. I disclosed it. Left contact info. Been at my current job for 8 years. I was terminated from the process for poor work ethic or demonstrating that I'm a hiring liability. I was 22 at the time. Young and Dumb. They offered me an appeal date. I never sent the required letter snail mailed to HR. Personal choice. Not sour about anything. Well, they called me back three times. Once to ask me if I sent back my appeal. I said No. They second asking me if I would like to appeal which was a couple weeks later. I declined and another two weeks or so later they called me again inviting me to appeal. I declined again. No offense but I thought it'd be a great change and career but with the way things are not so much. Everything moves in cycles but I don't see this left wing attack on LE ending anytime soon. Besides. I don't give a damn about "those people" anyway so it was all for the best but I do know that not everyone gets the chance to appeal. It depends on your zip code, neighborhood and name if you catch my drift. I'm Hispanic. My "white" friends who were terminated never got calls asking them to appeal and their reasons for termination were just as minor if not down right petty. Ex: My colleague from Norridge was axed because he was arrested when he was 18 for public intoxication. 9 years ago. White Privilege? Yes, right. Good luck and stay safe everyone.

I also know of another female that got fired after she refused to "shoot" during Officer Survival and stated that she would "never take a life no matter what." She got the boot due to safety concerns for other Officers. This was within the past two years.

I've seen many like that in my time on the job. One in a particular North Side district can't work the streets because of some unknown condition. So she gets kept inside doing clerical work. She can, however, work special employment.

Gay men outraged over continued ban on blood donation

June 14, 2016

"The FDA implemented a near-lifetime ban of blood donations from gay and bisexual men in 1985 at the start of the AIDS epidemic...the FDA updated its guidance on the issue in 2015. "The NIH says that once a person is infected with HIV, it generally takes about three months for the body to produce enough antibodies to be detected by an HIV antibody test. For some people, it can take up to six months." [Or even longer?]

"Under the latest rules, gay and bisexual men may donate blood, provided it has been 12 months since their last [self-reported and unverifiable] sexual encounter with another man [arbitrarily assuming only one partner as the norm.]

"The Human Rights Campaign [whatever that is] said that the change was a "step in the right direction" but that the new policy "still falls short of a fully acceptable solution because it continues to stigmatize gay and bisexual men."

We will have "equality" here even if it kills...others...

* She has been inside her Chappaqua, New York, home since Sunday night and will remain there through at least Tuesday, her campaign says
* Large, concrete barriers outside the property and Secret Service officers occupying large black SUVs also block gawkers from getting too close

Please do not accept this as a criticism of people with illnesses they cannot control. However, the public expects and deserves fully capable officers responding to emergency situations. So, how does the Dept. justify, that they have put a subject with cerebral palsy on the street in 019? Is CPD so afraid that they would be sued for violating the Americans with Disabilities Act that they are willing to experiment with public safety? CPD has an officer with this unfortunate affliction on the job. He writes a few parkers then they keep him at the desk! In addition, they have also hired officers in various stages of having sex changes. Excuse me but I am confused here: how do you pass the psychological testing, when you are uncertain of your gender? Or do you take the Police Job because you realize the City will pay for the operation? Just wondering!Rahm has destroyed the quality of police service in Chicago, but his Detail is always fully staffed, no matter what. Stay Fetal, Stay Fetal, Baby"G"

But when it is a recruit the system is perfect?

CMON.

After they made college a requirement the recruits have been OBTUSE.
The staff at the academy are desk dollies picked from all over the City who were less than stellar.
And special ED was picked for a JOB he never applied for and his Fiance' scored perfect on the LT. exam mysteriously "CLASSIC".

There are plenty of coppers on the job who should not be for various reasons but cannot be gotten rid of. Just as there are plenty of other city employees who should not be in the positions they hold.

(Keep in mind the Democrats are willing to put up a sickly presidential candidate who is totally incompetent and lacking good judgement. This is how they think.)
We have a remedial Department that reflects dismal Chicago Public School System. So what- it's fair, right?
Then:
– "Attempting to keep known domestic abusers with criminal records off the Department is the second."
Domestic Incidents have been big issues for along time. I recall an case of raging text messages, stalking and big pay outs as a result of over promoting a particular Exempt two times since. Shameful or fair?

The busting-down of standards to satisfy "da communerty?"

The "sterling quality" of the majority of meritoriously clouted
promotees during the last fifteen to twenty years will surely
end up being the tip of a very large and deeply ugly iceberg
for CPD...

It has metastasized into a self-perpetuating/self-sustaining
Frankenstein's Monster of idiocy, incompetence, ignorance,
ineptitude, entitlement and reinforces a toxic work atmosphere
where your most competent, knowledgeable and skilled officers
make the intentional and conscious decision to keep their light
under a bushel basket so as not to draw attention to themselves
and become targets of the Departmental culture where bad and
incompetent managers do seemingly thrive and prosper abundantly.

There aren't enough good bosses to counter this and the organization
is so rotted from within that there is absolutely no incentive
for any boss with a modicum of conscience and proper home-training
to act out of even mere human decency some times.

And then there's the Generation ADHD Police...
Then you kind of understand why EVERYBODY within who is possessed
of some discernment is taking a step back, so to speak.

Our observation. Our opinion.

Policing as some of us have known it to be has been intentionally
tangled in the cables of Progressive Fuckery and Perpetual Grievance
along with all the other meaningful institutions of American Society.

Who is cheering the loudest now that the whole works are hopelessly
entangled and sliding down the steep slope where there is a drop-off
and an unimagineable abyss?

"Meh! You Cops are just pissed because it isn't 1960 anymore
and you've been finally knocked down the ladder of the
societal hierarchy a few rungs and your former spot taken
by those "mutts" you mock. Sucks to be you, eh? Give back
those cush benefits and give up your "union protection" and
maybe we'll let you claw your way back up."

Of course the Progressives and Democrats want it this way.

How better to sow mistrust between the public and the police than to have incompetent and/or corrupt police officers in the police ranks. The drip, drip, drip of individual incidents will corrode the trust in the police. What do you think Black Lives Matter is all about? The goal is to make the police untrusted pariahs. We in the public won't respect, trust or obey the police. In return, the attitudes of the police officers about the general public will sour. We in the public will become "the enemy" and soon the police will withdraw from the public. Police will become an insular occupying army like you see in Banana Republics and the old Communist Regimes.

How can the Progressives accelerate the trends?. Throw in previous criminals that continue their criminal habits while cloaking them with the authority of the Chicago Police Department. A little theft, some blatant corruption, sexual abuse, and some blatant excessive force can do a lot to sow distrust. Add to that incompetent officers and more importantly incompetent supervisors. Bumbling and uncaring officers following stupid and even illegal orders. Select the incompetent by merit promotions. Soon we in the public will EXPECT the police to be incompetent, criminals and uncaring thugs. Not just in the ghetto and the liberal North Shore, but in the "good" districts too.

Why? They want the Glorious Revolution to come. The Revolution will never happen if people trust the Police and the Justice System, and the Police trust the Public. Look what else Progressives are doing. ---Destroy the trust in the Criminal Justice system by releasing criminals, selectively prosecuting people, and refusing to prosecute the powerful politicians and their buddies. ---Dividing people according to class, race, religion, and sex. They are classifying and dividing us all into tiny little groups. They give certain groups special privileges, money, and power. They punish disfavored (white males) groups. ---They even use Universities to make the divisions permanent with race, gender, and other "grievance studies."

Don't believe me? Read what SCC has posted since the beginning of the blog with this in mind.
Corrupt Government? ----check
Merit Promotions? ----check
Incompetent Supervision? ----check
Criminals without Punishment? ----check
Innocent People Punished? ----check
Innocent Police Punished? ---check
Merit Supervisors avoiding punishment? ---check

Progressives in Action! The Glorious Revolution is the Progressive Final Solution!

Want it to Stop? Don't Vote Progressive! Don't Vote Democrat!
And SCC, Keep up the good work!

The following things WILL NOT get you disqualified to get hired by the C.P.D.

1. Being an ex gang member, or current one if you don't tell anyone.

2. Getting arrested multiple times.

3. Not Being a U.S. Citizen.

The list goes on and on, but the above three should stir some thought while our department fights gangs and possible terror threats.

the standards from the superintendent state a candidate cannot be disqualified solely for being arrested.they must show that the candidate actually did the crime but only by a preponderance of the evidence,. the human resources board does not deal with probationary candidates, they have no right of appeal before the human resources board at all, your facts are just not true

They better remove this guy before he makes it on and then never be able to fire him. This department has a deplorable record jiffy firing cops that are doing their job, and never firing cops who are fuckups like this guy. Look at Abbatte, Kane, and the idiot who threatened the Asian woman on video whose name I cant remember. We had a combative child abuser in our unit, and it they gave him three strikes, and a long career in the rubber gun squad. I know it is the FOP's job to save their jobs, but in these cases, there were plenty of warning signals. We have all heard/seen the stories of drunks on the job in a daily stupor. Attention Carol Marin! Now you can go to Phoenix and broadcast the second chapter of the La Quan Legacy. Since you won the Peabody Award, the Phoenix affiliate must have aired your compelling feat of journalistic prowess. He probably figured that it was silly to attack squad cars with a knife like his Chiraq partner - so he merely drove the SUV into our Phoenix colleagues.

Today - Dhaka. Tomorrow - Bridgeview?

I mean -- this is knee-deep.

Dhaka's streets turn to rivers of blood as Muslims use car parks and garages to slaughter animals for Eid al-Adha

* Huge swathes of animal sacrifices were carried out in Bangladesh's capital
* Designated kill zones were rendered out of action due to deluge and floods
* Instead, Muslims took to the side-streets to kill for the Feast of Sacrifice
* Blood from animals flowed into the Dhaka streets and turned the roads red

Officers need to be made aware of what is happening with officers who are injuried currently on disability and also if officers who one day may find themselves on duty disability. Please keep in mind that we are well aware officers are scamming but when reading this notification keep in mind many officers are legit and one day any officers reading this may find themselves on duty disability and need to know the current policy.
Disabled officers are having benefits terminated every month by the pension board without any legal reason while the union says nothing. They refuse to take into account what the treating doctors say and regardless of what the pension board doctor says when a officer is truly disabled. The board has started a process against our CBA where they terminate benefits without any reason and the board orders officers to shoot. They have been making this the new practice and officers are put in a catch 22. When disabled officers are put in this situation they immediately are put in no pay status and either have to attempt to shoot against doctors orders or just quit the job or sue pension board if they can afford the loss of pay and lawyer. Believe what you want but this needs to be brought to the attention to officers because so far the FOP has done nothing and stayed silent. Our CBA rights are being trampled on. Keep in mind Limited duty is a sought out position and officers on disability have to apply to return to duty. The pension board does not care and they just terminate benefits without cause and then put officers in the catch 22. Then when coppers are not getting paid they basically are forced to either hire a lawyer and not get paid for at least a year while going thru the process or attempt to shoot against all the doctors orders and note that while doing that the department will say that the officer is "seeking limited duty" applying to return to work. Thats the catch 22. Then if officers return with serious injuries to desk duty they still have to be responsible for the weapon they are prescribed and what if driving home after the tour and get in a jam and truly cant handle the weapon. What if that returning disabled officer shoots himself because he cant handle the gun or reload the weapon or even shoots himself while racking the weapon? The what if's go on and on. Point being this is a serious issue and coppers need to be aware. When we took this job we were given promises and agreements. We took this job to be enforcers of the law. How can the union allow for this disability situation go to the wayside. This issue to needs to be brought to the forefront because FOP could care less.

So much for in depth journalism.

Seems like you saying that your trying to get back on limited duty but cannot fire your weapon is that correct? then you say what if you injure yourself with said weapon? did you think about maybe selling the weapon since you cannot use it? as far as limited duty if your still "the police" you should be able to pass the course of fire, you have 2 chances lets say chance 1 you fail you reschedule for another date get your ass into a class say at midwest or wherever range and retrain to shoot. If your 'totally disabled" and cannot hold your weapon that means you cannot be pout golfing, putting a roof on your home, working out hard at the gym etc...

Im full of shit? Make an appointment at our pension board with Mike Lappe and sit down don't be a jag let him tell you what is happening, and he will maybe show you some videos of coppers being not just terminated from disability but being brought up on charges. If your legit fine if your not hmm?

Thank God for people who DON'T bail out.
First, if Fred Coffey had left, some other, less-prepared, person would have been the victim yesterday, so Fred Coffey was the rightest possible victim in the rightest possible place and time.
Second, part of the reason the city IS going to shit is because the good people flee, instead of fighting for the betterment of the city.
Third, while YOU may not have ties here, a lot of retired DO. They have grandchildren, neighbors they love, they own businesses and they volunteer at their churches and schools. For some, this is exactly where they want to be, for their own reasons, and they don't answer to you second-guessing how they live their lives.

Sure I can sell and move, start another mortgage etc, but I choose to stay in my house here and prepare for my ripe old age where I will need to spend my money. O by the way, when you turn 65 you have no more free city insurance, I pay for dental and vision out of my pocket and my family coverage is 1500.00 per month. Where's Mike Lappe? Oh yeah he's too busy trying to get duty disabled officers fired instead of trying to get them reinstated.
Newsflash, Lappe is not a POs friend by any stretch of the imagination.

I always found him to be very quiet when on the scene of anything and he allowed the WC to handle things. He was OK, but he sure had his favorites ( black) and covered for them. He also hung out at the nightclub at 65th Lowe which ran all kinds of illegal activity. He never interfered . I was not a fan of his but wish him well.

I've been waiting almost 3 years to get on, its ridiculous how much time is wasted not hiring people. Meanwhile 3000 people shot this year along with shortages across the city in every district. I knew like 10 guys that simply moved on in life and lost interest after waiting so long. It's a shame. Hopefully I hear something soon.

I've been waiting also with you, I've been wanting this since I was a little kid. I'm more than qualified to work for CPD but maybe because of my nationality it's taking them forever to process me.

I also have freinds who have moved on in life.

Hopefully soon we get hired.

Seems to me, Mike Lappe does a great job protecting the fund for the truly deserving

I heard a kid with a slight case of possible cerebral palsey was passed. True? Anyone ?

umm... that would make the kid more qualified than most of our command staff.

I was disqualified from the process for a domestic arrest that happend in 2004. Never convicted and my ex wife even told investigators that she lied about it because she was angry. I even had it expunged. She even signed an affidavit stating the allegations were false. Women lie all the time on domestics in my observation and experience. Now getting arrested twice for the same thing and the last time very recently? Grounds for disqualification for sure but it shouldn't be an automatic without proper investigation and sound judgement. I have a couple copper friends who got stripped because of a crazy chick can't keep her emotions in check making false allegations.

I see good and bad with this. I think if you fail classroom exams or any type of testing there should be an appeal process and a re-test.This is not the Army, where failing an exam loses your MOS. But, even that can have its limits. And, the comment by one person that he thinks because he is Hispanic he was given special consideration on appeals, probably is correct. I have seen such things before in the Academy. PC is the watch word of the day.

If you fail a test in the academy, you're probably too stupid to be on the job.

They can't make it any easier.

Just reading your stuff gives an indication that we don't need any questionable characters in our job. Just because you were not convicted does not make you innocent. That's a shithead line right there. It takes two to tango. Crazy attracts crazy. Seems that you have a lot of experience with domestic situations being able to say that women lie ALL the time in domestic situations. I have no copper friends that had a domestic altercation. Maybe you need to start hanging around people different from yourself.

Too the recruit in 4 your ability to screw with the system is quite devious your disability is your crutch I hope your 4 FTO passes you so your lack of effort will show I perhaps convince those in the department not to hire person who are unable to perform this job. Working as an FTO for 13 years I had only a few recruits that were unable or Just plain incompatant most did well. 4 is a dumping ground for lazy recruits who want things their way it's sad

Please stop letting your four year old make comments on the blog. You are a four year old, are you?
