Increase in the Increase

Well, according to HeyJackass.com (the only source for an accurate count of the killing fields), Chicago passed 491 homicides this week....491 being the total for all of 2015 (per the Department "official" numbers).

In just 8 months - two-thirds of a year.

So everything from here on out can fairly be called a bonus homicide.

And Chicago is a mere 111 shootings (or so) from 3,000 catching lead poisoning, though only one-sixth of those had proven fatal. The city is averaging (AVERAGING!!!) 12 shot a day and 2 killed.

And while this doesn't match the years of the "crack wars" or even the mid-1990's, it's still the highest in decades.
UPDATE: 491 is the "official" CPD number. HeyJackass.com had it at 509, which Chicago will probably hit next week.

91 for the month of august. had a murder in 008 and 002 tonight with one earlier in 008 again. add in the two from the arson in 009 over the weekend which hasn't been reclassified yet, but will be soon and you have 91 total for august. im sure eddie wont talk about those two from the arson though, he will keep it at 89 because 91 just sounds much much worse. they will quietly reclassify the arson one as homicides after his news conference quietly over the labor day weekend. by that time nobody will care about how many murders were in august because it will be 4 or 5 day old news by then and considered a dead topic because all the labor day shootings will be the news of the day. So media, make sure when eddie gives you the numbers for August you call him on it and ask him if it includes the two people murdered over the weekend in the fire in 009.

Here's the difference between now and the 90's, the advancements in emergency medical care has helped saved several people from dying from gunshot wounds. Another thing to consider is the populations of now and the 90's. How many people have left Chicago since the 90's? And you have to factor in the invention of the cell phone as well. Nowadays everybody has a cell phone. In the 90's you had to find a pay phone and call 911. This has to be the worse violence this city has ever seen.

Considering how much better medical care and EMT care is now I'd like to see the number of gunshot victims now compared to the numbers in the 90's. I suspect shootings are way up, but better medical care is keeping the homicide numbers lower than would be expected.

An increase in the increase is often termed Acceleration. As in "the numbers of shootings and murders is accelerating in Chicago."

And when you accelerate as you run into the wall, you hit harder and it hurts more.

Hate to say this but I don't care anymore.

A LOT of needless shootings, I will grant you that but "those in those neighborhoods" have to wake-up and start running their lives differently.

I'm tired of the cops being blamed, the white privilege excuse, and all the other cop-outs we have heard (and continue to hear).

Take some responsibility! I can say I AM happy that there was cooperation from the neighborhood to catch those two killers. We should look at that as a small positive in a sea of negatives.

Chicago can do a LOT better if it is led better. Until then, staying away from Chicago and its problems.

Looks like 700 could be within reach by the end of the year. Let's see now, how many holiday weekends are left this year? They're always good for 10 or 15 dead. There is Labor Day, Columbus Day, can't forget Sweetest Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas, and New Year's Eve.

I predict Chicago will be suffering from the "McDonald Effect" for decades.

At least 9 people shot at Englewood intersection this summer: 'People always hang out here'

"Beat 0725, 10:10 p.m. Aug. 30

"Two wounded women on a blood-stained section of sidewalk flagged down a police cruiser near 69th Street and Ashland Avenue. They were two of four people shot there Tuesday night.

"Had it been another intersection, perhaps the officers would've been surprised..."

Oh. Here, the famous Divvybike makes a cameo appearance.

"Inside the yellow police tape a Divvy bike station stood at the northwestern corner. A sign with a city map next to the bicycles was shattered by gunfire. Only three bicycles were not at the station."

...and God knows where they are, huh?

"Several police officers who have patrolled the area for years said...people often hang around the bus stop and the Divvy bike station, sitting on the bicycles without renting them out.

“They’re basically expensive benches,” one officer at the scene said. “I don’t know how Divvy is making any money off of these.”

“It’s really a safety hazard,” another officer said."

Fascinating...

We have a preliminary August total of 90 homicides, another 401 shot and wounded and 481 total shot. We're patiently waiting for those two Laflin arson vics to be declared as homicides, which would put us at 92 - besting any year in the 1990s except for 1992 or 1993.

We're sitting 6 out from 500. At the current pace we should tally that one tomorrow or Saturday.

Chicago has 300,000 fewer residents since 1980 and 700,0000 fewer since the 1970, according to US Census figures. When you compare today's homicide numbers and population to Chicago when it was 10% to 22% larger, you really understand how breathtaking this GANG violence is. we not only exceed Los Angeles and New York combined, we do it by 75 homicides. That is enough to through in another major U.S. city.

A loaded gun can lay on a table for a hundred years and never hurt anyone until a person picks it up and uses it. Until we recognize that was we have is a societal "people" (of "folks" as you will)problem, we are never going to find a solution.

That is definitely a factor.

Also, many of the wounded are younger now than the average age of shooting victims in the 1990s. So that plays a role in survival rates.

Closer Look: Trauma care's impact on homicide rates

Jul 19, 2016

This week The Sentinel takes a closer look at the interaction of trauma care and crime.

• How have advances in trauma care impacted homicide rates?

• A look at how first responders save lives following an assault.

• Lessons on the battlefield help shape civilian care.

What did those neighborhoods look like In the 60's? Nice homes , apartments and a good business area. Clean streets and a solid community. Well, welcome to the "Age of Entitlements ". Sorry folks, I didn't destroy your neighborhoods, You did this all by yourself. You clean it up..

Little Bill Daggett: Look son, being a good shot, being quick with a pistol, that don't do no harm, but it don't mean much next to being cool-headed. A man who will keep his head and not get rattled under fire, like as not, he'll kill ya. It ain't so easy to shoot a man anyhow, especially if the son-of-a-bitch is shootin' back at you.

Will Munny: All right, I'm coming out. Any man I see out there, I'm gonna shoot him. Any sumbitch takes a shot at me, I'm not only gonna kill him, but I'm gonna kill his wife, all his friends, and burn his damn house down.

Here's some better stats that I compiled today during my second personal.........
Per 1800hrs on 01 Sep 16....

-478 total homicides this years

-375 of the victims were Black = 78.5% (94% of the 375 blacks were male)
-5.85% were white victims
-15.06% Hispanic
-0.063% Asian & Unknown

-5 of the 478 homicides were committed in predominantly white (greater than 80% white) neighborhoods = 1.04%
- 98.96% committed in predominantly black or Hispanic neighborhoods

79.2% of the 478 homicides in 2016 remain unsolved.

***I can't find any official stats on the race of the offenders but based on the above stats and my experiences....I'm gonna go ahead and say that well over 80% of the homicides were committed by male blacks.***

So remember people.....Father Phleger and the rest of the media is right....the CPD targets African Americans for no good reason. It's because the CPD is racist and guilty of racial profiling, not because of the above overwhelming stats. (Hahahaha) How long will the media keep pushing this BS narrative and start looking at the cold hard facts/stats??? BLM people will only talk about blacks that are killed by law enforcement (all of which refused to comply with law police orders which caused their deaths). Hey BLM, Phleger, media, and whoever else.....How about this.....you preach to you're people that during each and every interaction with a law enforcement officer, comply with every single command and you will not only live but you'll come out of it unharmed 100% of the time. But they won't, they'll just continue to blame the police.

Today I heard Father Flager tell Dean Angelo to "go to hell," for asking police officers not to work on the Labor Day Holiday. Flager has done a lot of what i think are despicable things, but for a Catholic Priest to say that someone, a good person with a job and by all accounts leading a decent life, a person who by virtue of being the police for over 30 years gave much of himself to protect the community; Flager should be reprimanded and removed as a Pastor. I have never never heard him tell a shooter, even one that kills a kid to go to hell. Hell has a special place for this narcissistic hypocrite who cares more about getting headlines and publicity than he does about his fellow man. How dare he?

9/01/2016 01:35:00 PM

Hasn't the flaker maxed out yet? He should give it up. He's probably losing money by staying and being the obnoxious asshole that only the people that benifit from his bullshit like. He probably even hates himself because deep down he knows that he really isn't black!
What is he, in his seventy's? Getting kinda old to be out there protesting so many made up wrongs for "his" people.

Keep paying your Catholic tuition knowing once your school met its budget, the surplus is going to his church. Your money. Because something tells me with the amount of Catholic parishes closing due to insufficient funds, how in the world does his find a way to stay open? I just don't see the donations pouring in there.

George Soros? I can't see any other way that fool of a priest could make the money at that church that he rakes in.

I don't think he was getting himself dirty like that, but the Trib story did include a quote from a ten-year-old girl he had laying out there, as well as other kids.

I really hate people who exploit children, use them as props, sign-carriers, etc.

I don't have numbers for people shot but the 90s averaged between 5,000-11,000 shooting INCIDENTS. So do the numbers.

“When there are fires, we call a state of emergency. When there are hurricanes, a state of emergency. When there’s floods, a state of emergency,” he said. “Well, we have the fire of violence and gunfire. We have the floods of blood in our streets. And we have communities that look like third world countries, that look like it must have had a tornado hit it, or a hurricane...”

...or a significant number of the people who live there -- the ones who enjoy all this.

Can we get another washdown here?

9/01/2016 03:21:00 AM

What that hag phleger does not seem to understand, is that floods, fires and storms are natural disasters which we have no control over. The violence and gunfire are man made "disasters" which could come to an end if certain segments of society which the hag is intimately familiar with, would simply knock off their unlawful and uncivilized behavior. How about it mike, what do you have to say about that. Oh I forget, you refuse to hold those folks accountable. It's always someone else's fault!

We're safer with our good old cow-legend.

The guy drives me nuts, I have gone to the Archdiocese web site more than once and posted the rules about pastors here, supposed to be one six-year term, then a review, then maybe one more six-year term, then pastor is reassigned somewhere else unless "extraordinary circumstances." Not supposed to be allowed to build up a cult, a personal empire.

Let him work out the rest of his time counting pencils in a church warehouse in Nebraska or something.

Colin Kaepernick wore socks showing pigs as cops to 'highlight the problem of rogue cops' WEEKS before he began his controversial sit-down national anthem protest

* He sparked controversy after refusing to stand during national anthem
* Said he wouldn't show pride for a country that oppresses people of color
* Now, pictures surfaced that show him with socks of pigs dressed as cops

Strangely enough...

'F*** that guy': Anonymous NFL executives reveal how the league leadership all 'hate Colin Kaepernick, call him a traitor and believe he is unlikely to play pro ball again'

* Officials from front offices of seven teams have slammed the quarterback
* One said he has 'no respect for our country', another said he's a traitor
* Another said he is currently the most hated player in the league
* Most believe he will be shortly released by the San Francisco 49ers

Something along those lines.

So they can get to their multimillion dollar job on time?

100% agree with the police not escorting the sports teams. Hey, you private citizens:

Please pick up the phone and make a complaint to the State police or the Chicago police every time you see a police car "escorting" a team. Lights and sirens are for emergencies only by state law, not for some top police official ingratiating themselves with the Rickets or some other millionaire. How do you think those bosses get those great seats? It is by taking away your police officers to kiss up to the millionaire owners. Start complaining!

We complain, we are punished on the job. You complain, you are a good citizen worried about how your tax dollars are being wasted. Do it right. Ask for your complaint number. Demand it. Get a name.
