Light Holiday Posting

We're taking it easy tonight. Nothing too heavy. We're digesting the Use of Farce order, all 41 pages, and figuring out exactly what changed. So much of it is a rehash of previous orders and much of it is stuff the Department is doing already. The actual changes are subtle and the waffling to insulate brass (who don't work the street) and burn coppers (who do work the street) are pretty obvious.

Open post for various interpretations of the order.

For those of you that still don't get it, this order just proves that the city along with the department care more about being sued and bad press then they do about officer safety. Go right ahead and keep chasing people and fighting with people, if you don't lose the fight you're going to wish you did after the city and some scumbag lawyer get done with you.

Yeah, l didn't think so.

Just thinking.....teachers going to strike....wouldn't a citywide strike, or protest against Rahm be perfect? What a way to end his term, the only one he is concerned about is himself and other 1% ers. Even blm would jump on band wagon. We're being squeezed along with every other city worker. The only ones not hurting are the alderman and mayor, why is that? Are there health benefits diminishing? Are they going to pay more when retired? Why can't we put this out in the open and show how there not taking all the burden too? We're too busy looking at small things and not paying attention to who's really hurting us. We can accomplish a lot if we stand together and demand things. Hey, even blm understands that now, look at what they get away with, it's changing our lives as we speak. Do something.

There's people out there that have years of experience in dealing with people suffering from mental illness. How is it that 2 days of mandatory training and a week long CIT class will all of a sudden make police officers experts in recognizing "crazy"? It doesn't compare to people that have years of experience and knowledge. Let them deal with it. Just like we show up on scene if ems is needed we do the same if a mental health expert is needed.

10/09/2016 10:06:00 AM

I have noticed over the many years of law enforcement, that we are to be instant experts on almost all manners of life. EXECPT for the abliity to differentiate the likelyhood of violent tendencies of different groups of people. For THAT there can be no expertise.

And where is President Dean Angelo during all these proposed changes? That is a very good question. Why would he not have a press conference after that Officer was hurt Friday for not choosing to use deadly force for fear of backlash. Not a peep out of Dean for this or just about anything. If he is suppose to be the voice for Police Officer's and Detectives why does he choose to stand silent?

All I know is....The politicians who are screwing us, are getting free health care for life with A Zero deductible. Not even a slim chance that they will ever lose that benefit...ever.

Twenty and out. Not a day MORE will benefit you any further. Leave the city now, RUN AWAY! The city is circling the drain anyways... You will still be young enough to get a full time job with benefits. If your wife works, and has health care, you're golden! If your living an alternative lifestyle, and your significant partner works, then you're golden too. The libtards wanted it that way.

Enjoy retirement...Some things don't always work out like we planned. Improvise and overcome. Now, we need to get the city to pay into our pension plan, or we will lose that.

This whole loss of retiree healthcare is crap but show me, prove to all the claim of politicians getting free healthcare with zero Deductible. Post the part of their contract or the ILCS statue that provides this so called benefit to them. I hear people all the time make this claim and have not seen once any proof of it. Just like the claim that an alderman serves one term and is fully vested in their pension.

Post the proof or stop spreading false info. It make us all look like idiots

Any updates on the 2 PO"s from 15? As usual the local media carried it for a day, Rahms (not ours) Superintendent talked about for about 2 days, our FOP never discussed it, just want to know both POs are home and doing well. I hope everyone is aware that if 2 police POs just started whooping some poor citizens ass, the media would lead off every broadcast, the mayor and supt. would be holding press conference after press conference. Along with a city hall meeting to reform something. And they wonder why they have to lower the standards to get people to apply for this job.

This archived video of her laughter is not important to air since it may dirty up her “women rights” image. Did anybody catch the Sunday Sun Times article linking Mayor Daley (D),Mark Vaneko (D-in training) and Ed Burke (D) to a shady taxpayer funded deal at 33rd & Pulaski. Lots of taxpayer money squandered and misappropriated. Kind of reminds me of the involvement in the C.P.D. pension scandal involving the former Mayor Daley's nephrew Mark Vaneko. Remember it was Mark Vaneko, a lawyer and lobbyist, who negotiated the 10 year contract Lallapalooza which if I recall was exempted from taxes. The company running the music festival was non other than C3 run by Ari Emanuel brother of now Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D). And you thought Mike Madigan (D) with preferential property tax treatment for clients of his law firm was scandalous.

Yeah they do but the officer does not want them released. Who really wants their parents, family, wife/husband or kids to have to see you almost die? It's up to the officer. Don't try and use this so you can get sympathy from the public. I'm sure you posted enough on Facebook about it so people can comment to you how they wish you would be safe because your job is so hard. It's the officers call, not yours and frankly screw the public and media and what they want to know. No reason for her kids to see that.

These sergeants will then schmooze the detectives brass saying that they have the experience to get into the D unit...some will make it, and still wont have a clue what it is that detectives need to do their job.

DOJ reviewed the testing process that CPD gives for promotional exams. Look for the entire testing process to change drastically. LTs and Sgts lists might not be up for as long as people thing... Im not saying they are going to get ripped down or anything because obviously its been too quick and more will be made however, once that DOJ report comes out it will demand that the testing and selection process is overhauled thus eliminating the existing lists from the old test. If these lists stay up for two years from now I would be very, very surprised. They Fed wants the entire human grading factor taken out of testing. Im guessing 100 or so more LTs made off this list and 100-200 more sgts from that list and by that time the report should be out and the city will have no choice except to get rid of the list from the old testing process. Exact same thing happened in LA and the exact same thing is currently happening in Baltimore.

Do you mean Cmdr. Crystal King-Smith? Yeah, in my OPINION she was the absolute worst when she was in 007. Would try to approve arrest reports and spout off about how things should be done which she absolutely had no clue about. She wouldn't know probable cause if it walked up and hit her in the face. I actually think, that its possible that she has never written an arrest report or testified in court on a REAL criminal case in her career. If she has, then she sure fooled me every time it came to reviewing police work and commenting on how the legal system works. CLUELESS is an understatement but hey, thats what makes her a great "leader" in our department. This pick was eddies equivalent to the promotion of the "burger queen" years back by a past Supt.

He said he was going to put Hillary in jail. (We could only hope.) This played badly to many levels of people across the country. Certainly she deserves it but it made him sound super vindictive and not someone you would want as Commander in Chief.

On the locker room talk, he apologized, it was private and never meant to be published. He might have added, that he knows a lot of women executives and I am sure that the talk between themselves in their locker rooms is just as raunchy and private.

What he should have said was, "I am sure on his last days in office, President Obama will sign a blanket pardon for you, your husband and the entire list of your co-conspirators and order all the incriminating evidence ad records destroyed or sealed for seventy-five years. But, I will make it one of my top priorities, for the sake of history and the American people that every criminal act you and your gang did down to the last detail is documented, published and preserved forever."

The last audience question was, "What do you admire about each other?'
Trump should have said, "Mrs. Clinton is extremely loyal to and protects her husband no matter what he does."

Stay Safe. Protect our pension, our rights 2nd Amendment and all the rest.
Register everyone you can and VOTE TRUMP.

The newsies pressured Daley to answer a question once (can't recall what prompted this) and he responded he would GUARANTEE promotional exams would be given every three years. And, of course, he did no such thing.

Giving frequent tests is a win all-around. You get a better-educated workforce, you get happier campers who don't have to worry the test this year is the ONLY one they'll see in their career. Your supervisors are then better prepared to handle issues, because they're very familiar with the orders, and your 9161's are more familiar, too, have studied them more recently than just way back when they were in the Academy.

Frequent tests will save the City (some) money on lawsuits, certainly more than it costs to administer a test. They will improve morale (well, it really couldn't get any lower, could it). They will cause the best to rise to the top, because the City will always take only the top scorers and not have to scrape the bottom of the list.

Of course, this assumes the 'merit' percentages will be forced downward by the DOJ. If they reviewed the merit packages of those who've received merit promotions, they'll have seen how rigged they are. Hopefully, they'll address it.

They only made 166 off of the list so far. Long ways to go before they take it down. I'd say you're safe if you scored under 450.

"Scrap" the bottom of the list?! I'd say scoring top 500 in a test where over 6000 officers took a test is pretty damn impressive!

Should always promote the top 500 scores off the LIST. These people saying scrap the list must rank in the 2000's. Not gonna happen. DOJ report will REQUIRE #'s to increase everywhere. DOJ will not allow the city to drags it's feet and give another test and have to wait another year or so for results to be sent home. Nope. These lists are here for at least another 3 - 4 yrs.

The only test they are gonna keep giving every 2 years or so will.most likely be the FTO test.

Since when does an existing list become eliminated? Only when a new list comes from a test. The city is not going to be giving any more promotional exams in the next 3-4 years. And that's according to a supervisor and high ranking boss at personnel and HR. Lists will stay up for a minimum of 5 years from the test date. These lists will go over the normal numbers in past because the DOJ wants all ranks back to or close to their past # strengths. The DOJ will not allow the city to drag it's feet on bringing #'s up. Sgts list is only in 160's. Expect this list to go upwards of over 425 this time around. Last list ended close to 420 or so. So Stop with the bullshit regarding a new test or list being taken down. These things are not gonna happen. If you want to know when a test may be given try paying attention to when people like Dr. Bernstein start FOIA requests to the city regarding any upcoming exams. He seems to get info quicker than most as to when these tests may be given. That's a better indicator of future exams then some person on here saying the DOJ is going to do this or that.
