Night One

A non-clinching game.

Thousands of cops sitting in and around buses in the general area of Wrigley.

This accomplished what exactly? That the Department could move large amounts of cops around the city 6 hours before game time using buses? The CTA proves they can do that every day of the year.

Any stories to share?

This is all just a farce to show on tv for national coverage to make it look like we are actually staffed. They have everyone "except the select chosen clout people " working

There aren't radios, cars, or spots to put all these people. It's a joke

I actually didn't mind it. It was a nice night away from the ghetto and made a ton of easy money on my day off. I look forward to doing it again tomorrow. Too many whiners and crybabies out there tonight. You can do nothing to change it, make the best of it and make good money. It's a free pass from a beat car in the ghetto and was good seeing old friends and normal people going to the game.

Hundreds of POs and PPOs standing around in 001 without a cubs fan in site. The most excitement we had was a few hundred critical mass bikers that came thru the district in an orderly fashion. Thousands upon thousands of dollars wasted.

Off Topic,

One theory on FBI Director Comeys sudden reopening of the Clinton Case is that the agents were starting to revolt, and threatened to go public. Maybe a little solidarity works?

The other theory is that Wikileaks is about to dump emails on Monday that will prove just how guilty Queen Cankles is. Comey is desperately trying to get ahead of it.

He should have announced her indictment on July 5, 2016, rather than whitewashing her crimes.

Vote Trump, and drain the swamp of DC.
Maybe Chicago can be next?

I understand the terrorism deterrence aspect of this whole thing, but if one group of officers is rlying on another group of officers to do their assigned job and they don't, there is a dominio effect. Absolutely no communication between Patrol and the Specialized units. So many loop holes and flaws in this plan, just hope none of us get hurt.

Totally unnecessary. I get it is a major event and requires additional police. I also understand that the Dept had the ability and time to request for volunteers and use reverse seniority. Changing start times up to 5hrs, 12hr days, being in place 6 hrs before the game. Riculous. If I hear 1 more time that this is why we get duty availability. Really, this was a pre-planned event not an unforeseen emergency. If this is the new norm, 12hr days and interrupting personal lives then we should have the option to opt out of our duty availability which is a mere 1200 for the year after taxes to disrupt your life for any event. You have one right. To be a police officer and follow orders. WTF! If you are assigned a post then stand the post. Since when has police work become convenient? Are you guaranteed 8 hrs a day that never change? Your life is expected to be disrupted when ever you make arrests or for any emergency. You forget that a police officer is available 25/7 when necessary. Even without the duty availability money you are required to work when the department orders you to work. Such as immature cry baby. Check cash on your OT slip and enjoy xmas. By the way, STFU

I guess you forgot about your man William Ligue Jr. and son jumping the first base ump. No offense, but when I think of a Sox fan I imagine the shirtless mulatard father son duo beating down the ump. I was working in 2003 and I don't recall anything significant happening, just a lot of quiet drunks walking around after they lost game 7. A lot Cubs fans suck, but sober and civilized is not how I would describe a Sox fan. Sorry, but you sound like another southsider with a chip on his shoulder. Move north while you still can.

There was no reason to take guys away from their families on short notice all during the WS. NONE! I can understand if there was something going on but there wasn't. Huge overreaction of collasal magnatude that has never been seen before at this level. Maybe a clinching game but even then it could be handled by all the teams in the city and maybe deploy incident cars. This is flat out bizarre!

Did you ever think that the "complainers " didn't want their weekend cancelled and would rather be with their families instead of getting the money? It was short notice even though the city knew about the games way in advance. It isn't even necessary to deploy 1000's to a non-clinching game. Family first right? Remember ages ago when the brass said that? But they were talking about their family.

Although I got a lot of "thanks for being here we we appreciate you guys." They also asked why are there so many police? And what they're really thinking is how much is this costing? So over kill on a special event but spread too thin on a day to day basis. So 1,000 plus cops to make sure they get to they're car safely after the game but only a handful to protect they're home and kids while they're away at work or asleep at night. So what are they really thinking... no fricken common sense here.

Stop it!!! Didn't you know all of this could happen the day you signed on for this job. Sometimes making a living to support your family gets in the way of other things in life, but without that "making a living" there probably would be no family! Being the police is different than most jobs as you should know. The fact is you made some extra money that if your smart you will spend it on your family next time you spend time with them! Nothing happened because of the "overkill" as you put it. That is the goal. For once stop thinking so one dimensional and look at the overall big picture.

Do you really think the idiots running the city or the police department consciously sat down and said "Lets see how we can screw over the men and women of the police department on this Oct weekend and blame it on the Cubs"?
CMON MAN!!

THANK YOU. You have the right attitude about his whole thing! Too many officers waste a lot of their lives complaining about things they have no control over. Ask one of the complainers what they would do if they were in charge and had the responsibility to handle this event. I'll bet you will hear some really asinine responses. What I really liked about your response was the "seeing old friends" part. Here was a great, low pressure situation to catch up with like minded people. That is what used to make this job great; the camaraderie!!!! Stay safe officer and spend the extra dough doing something fun with your family. To the whiners and criers spend the money on some quality tissue so you don't slip and fall on your tears!

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is reviewing another slew of emails related to Hillary Clinton’s private server — apparently thanks to Anthony Weiner.

FBI Director James Comey sent a letter to congressional leaders Oct. 28 saying that his agency recently discovered additional emails that are pertinent to the previously concluded investigation into whether Clinton mishandled classified information using a private server from her home in Chappaqua, N.Y. Comey said these new emails were found in “connection with an unrelated case.”

Later in the day, the New York Times and the Associated Press reported that the additional emails were discovered on former New York Rep. Anthony Weiner’s electronic devices during the FBI’s investigation of his sexting habits. According to the Times, the FBI is looking at inappropriate text messages Weiner allegedly sent to a 15-year-old girl

Good. Maybe I'll go downtown tonight. It's been ages since I've been there due to the 'yutes' from the west and south side. Other Sox fans should follow suit. Send city hall a clue.

What the department needs to focus on is the election. If Trump wins (please God, he must win) the other side won't be able to handle it. Typical liberals only believe in democracy when it suits them. Bad shit may happen. If we're really blessed, Trump will win and all of his haters will move to Canada as promised and they'll never get back in.

Clinton will win. This nation is too liberal. The mainstream media worked Trump over with their lies. Remember most voters are the naive and misled.

If there is not enough cops working then the administration is wrong. If there are too many cops working then they wasted staffing which is money. Not a good position to be in ether way. Real reason for all the manpower? A handful of terrorism threats directed at Wrigley Field and the surrounding areas as well as a CPD computer system hacked. What i could not figure out is those clouted merit bosses from up North showing up to Wrigley in City owned cars with department radio and then work private security for the Ricketts/CUBS. These bosses then go walk into the command post and order on duty bosses around.
Media could track the bosses cars because they all have GPS and were taken from the AREA where the working people had no cars!

Randy Myers and Kyle Farnsworth had fans charge at them, cubs fans getting into an altercation with the Dodgers bullpen stealing their hats and brawling them, throwing beer all over Shane victorino, shouting racial slurs at the Marlins in 2003 when they got on the bus, and my favorite....the scumbag pedophile taking pictures of children using the bathroom. This contract is horrible on so many levels. You have no rights.

You sound like a whining millennial. Get a grip. It's embarrassing to hear this. You're a police officer. We signed up for this. On 9/11, police and firemen worked non-stop, some without pay, in horrible and tragic conditions without whining. I realize this is a different situation, but get a grip. Everyone knew when they signed up for when they got hired. If you're that upset, quit and get an office job.

FOP should take a look at other Union Contracts. Streets & San contract 6th work day in a row is time and a half, 7th work day in a row is double time, every day after 7 is double time.

As it was the City's choice to shrink the Department they should have to pay the premium for cancelling RDOs and having POs working 10, 11, 12, 13 days in a row to cover major events which is now becoming the norm.

Real reason for all the manpower? A handful of terrorism threats directed at Wrigley Field and the surrounding areas as well as a CPD computer system hacked. I won't divulge exactly who is here in town such as special forces, military intelligence, Homeland Security, Secret Service, etc., but there were very real threats communicated that the general public will never hear about. This is because they want you sheep to remain clueless. Unfortunately they didn't tell any of us grunts in blue shirts on the front lines either. My info comes from a buddy hooked into the feds. Please consider this as gospel and remain hyper vigilant. Sunday is most probable for issues. The assholes who are supposed to be in charge don't give a fuck about you otherwise we would've been told something.

Roger that Alpha hotel,

While walking my dog last night I saw 02 battalions of the 101st. executing a HALO jump over the woods near Forest Preserve drive and Cumberland, Looked like at least 02 companies of Rangers on the ground securing the L.Z.and a column of armor on one flank at Belmont led by General George Patton! When I got home my family said I was nuts, but you,me and your buddy "hooked into the Feds" know better don't we ?.....Wink!

P.S Ixnay with Ellentay....Top secret!

Blog follower (not a cop) here from out of town to work with the tv coverage. I've had lots of positive interactions with officers over the last two weeks. Only bad thing I've heard is one of the tv crew got mugged walking to the stadium from parking lot off of Irving Park.

Stay safe & thank you.

switch up the teams assigned to stand in an intersection for 8 hours. Same teams past two nights while other units have been sitting "standby" for two nights......Or is that too much for this overpromoted brain trust that runs this shit show of a department.

That is way too much to ask. The people who did the plan---are not out there doing the work and they do not take suggestions from the peanut gallery. Same goes for most of the Commanders/Directors/Chiefs---hacks who do not care and do not make any sort of actual decisions.

It keeps Bruce from turning you defined benefits pension into a 401k to start with. Bruce vetoed your cola bill. Now FOP has to ask Madigan and the republican state reps to over ride that veto. Your too stupid for words or just naïve. Get out

**********
And 30 years of Madigan has got us where? In this mess! Increased spending, increased taxes. And our pensions?!
Get YOUR naive head outta YOUR ass!

"Henny Penny Trahanas, you know the one who wants her title listed as Commanding Officer instead of Captain has screwed up everything in Special Events and their will be a mass exodus of folks leaving there due to her idiotic ways and the fact that she talks to people in a condescending manner."

That will be the day, Yeah they're going to leave special events and go back to patrol because of her.
Who comes up with this incredibly moronic shit?

This department is getting smaller and smaller every year. The city closed three police stations and two areas. The city disbanded many special units. The city is not replaced the police who retire. We are so short its a JOKE
