Ask yourself, for the most part are these killed and wounded,folks who have turned their lives around and are well on the way to becoming brain surgeons, engineers or astrophysicists? Or, are they neer do well common criminals, thugs, drug pushers and gang bangers?
Do people even know what's going on out there. I mean, it's just crazy. Almost 700 dead already, in less than a year. That's more than wiping out my whole catholic high school almost twice. You would think the communities this is happening would support a complete police take over to ensure their kids don't get slaughtered. Instead, they hate us, fight us, sue us, try to kill us all for trying to keep them safe. Is this just insanity or what?

I came on this job to because I wanted my life to mean something. So I could look back and say I made a difference in this world, for the better. I want to, along with most on this job but the rules in place are unwinnable for us now. You try to do the right thing and you could very easily end up 30 pending, in jail, sued or a you tube star. I could not believe it when I heard it on the radio. I came here and sure enough, 16 killed and 42 wounded. Democratic social policy brought this to the black community. Minimize the role and responsibility of the father, encourage and subsidize irresponsible behavior of woemen and geez, what could go wrong? Then mix in the rest of failed government programs from the schools to health care to Obama phones yet they support Democrats lock, stock and barrel. So go continue supporting liberal social policies.
I firmly believe the command staff doesn't know what to do about this. They want police to go out and be "aggressive", but most smart cops know police work is done. Police work will only gonna get you jammed up at the least you're taking the chance on something going wrong and you're guilty until proven innocent. Who wants to get in any kind of trouble? And the command staff knows they can't force you to do work. What's gonna happen when the vri well dries up? Even more people will be doing less.

It was a busy Saturday night. Who was the complete tool in 12 on 1st Watch who blurts out over the radio on Zone 3 in the middle of a ghetto homicide investigation, "he's got a pulse"! Bwahahahaha! The dispatcher and paper car are like "really...WTF"?! Homie was shot several times in the back of the head and was being worked on for over 20 minutes. Another 3-year wonder who likes to tie up the air on nonsense.

The overwhelming majority of the crowd at Wrigley was fantastic - thanking the police, shaking our hands etc. (and not bad to look at either) Very nice to have that for a change. Had one dude ask me with all the police at the Cubs game "who was watching the hood?" I said with a straight face no one, - they don't want us there anyway. Feet are a bit sore but send me up north more often.

Don't lose the faith, brother. You may not ever know it but somewhere along the line in your career you WILL touch and change someone's life for the better. That person may even come up to you weeks later and thank you.
It is so easy to become cynical and disillusioned on this job. After all, no one calls the police when their lives are going well. So we see only one side. And most of the time we deal with the wrong, problem causing people.
Don't let the negative overwhelm you. It will destroy you. Life is too sweet for that.

Part of the reason may have to do with the fact that there is an election just around the corner. As virtually all democratic run areas are experiencing a homicide epidemic, the political powers and their lackeys in the media are trying to keep it quiet.
16 killed and 42 wounded on a weekend is an appalling number. Especially in middle fall. If it were not for sites like this one and "HEYJACKASS.COM" the numbers would be largely hidden.
The Press ignores it because it is embarrassing to the political establishment.
The political establishment ignores it because they have no idea how to stem it.
The social establishment (revrunds, etc) ignores it for the most part because they don't want to alienate their cash source.
This, if nothing else, is proof that our "leaders" have absolutely no shame whatsoever. Any decent person in a leadership role would be MORTIFIED to have crime like this happening while they were at the helm. It signifies gross incompetence and utterly delusional policy. And yet there they are, not only showing their faces in public, but being smug and condescending while doing so. They truly think their excrement doesn't stink and that they'll never be held accountable for the havoc they have wrought.
What's even more disgusting is that they can see these numbers and yet continue to actively work to defame and destroy the few forces still attempting to keep things sane and civilized, like cops on the street.
We are so past due for tar, feathers, pitchforks and lampposts it isn't even funny. These bastard know no shame and no fear. Time to change that dynamic considerably.
Now onto the real issue that needs to be addressed: police corruption and reform. I mean, clearly we're the problem.
In response to some previous posts, no, people do not know what is going on and are oblivious. The root of the problems needs to be addressed, not the race of gold star bosses. Changing demographics has shown to be useless, just look at current crime statistics. One would also believe the communities would care. They do not. Money being spread from the dope game is more important than people's lives to them. Certain individuals in specific communities readily admit to have never worked a day in their lives. Yet, they are vacationing, driving new vehicles, utilizing the latest in electronic gadgetry and dining at fine establishments. But, never once has a paycheck been earned. Socialism comes with a high cost being the destruction of lives, communities, the economic system and finally the city. Ignorance is bliss within socialist democrats' minds. Disgusting and sickening along with shameful.

People are exhausted. Not enough coppers, and they're working what seems to be unlimited overtime, burning themselves out to fill the "budget gap." Everyone else is tired of months, years of "All LaQuan, All The Time"-style news coverage, blotting out the very sky.
The fact is that there are other things going on in our world. Cubs win, Halloween, wild Presidential election, winter coming, holidays coming, Russian Navy sailing through the English Channel towards Syria, people are arming themselves against Killer Clowns, the world population exploding and re-exploding...
The daily Chicago body count and the bullhorns and the "news conferences" at the Glass Block Cross Church cannot hit top-of-the-page billing every single day. I think it's called "news cycles."
