Rumors that Downtown Ernie Brown was removed from his County Homeland Security spot late last week.
One rumor is that he was "escorted from the building" which is usually code for "fired." As he was pretty much completely unqualified for the spot, this isn't out of the realm of possibility.
No word if he left as big a trail of sexual harassment lawsuits (and other allegations) in his wake as he did when he left CPD.

DTEB reportedly resigned. At Preckwinkle's insistence. RayRay bailed and returned to his former rank as Lt. with the CPD. People assigned to the Academy say that RayRay is still assigned there for now, still milking his re-orientation "because I've been away so long, you understand."
Word is that Ernie is in line to become the new chef of the States Attorney Police for Fox. A useless department that should be disbanded.
Only a handful of retired Chicago coppers actually do a decent job, the rest are total arrogant assholes that think their the real police but never made an arrest or wrote a ticket in their whole career. The sheriff dept could do the job.and save the county $$$$.
Ernie was no less qualified than Masters was. Let's not forget Masters ran around this city with a badge and a gun with absolutely NO TRAINING WHATSOEVER in making his transition from an Assistant to the Mayor (bootlicker) to Chief of Staff under J-Fled. It's been said here at the County that Masters recommended Brown to replace him when Masters left last year.
Brown has a lot of old baggage from his CPD days that should have prevented his ever being considered for the position in the first place, but he could perform his duties there no less competently than the man he replaced. Just keeping it real. I'm sure Brown will land on his feet somewhere else in the near future; the connected always do.
DTEB's predecessor at Cook County Homeland Security was the legend in his own mind, Mike Masters. He demanded that he be addressed as Director. So, you can see that there has been a very high standard imposed for those who have led this shadowy, very expensive bureaucracy which has never been called on to deploy. The number of people employed there and the cost of the equipment they have purchased and the real estate they occupy should be investigated. When Masters was there, he had all his minions dressed in tactical pants, shirts and shoes which they strutted in. However, because they were not law enforcement officers as defined by law, none of them were allowed to be armed. They would be a total joke if there was ever a homeland emergency. The uniforms would make them easy targets for the tangos.

I worked in districts, on the streets for my entire career so I never got to know the 'elite' personnel. One time DTEB came to roll call. Another time Bea the Bartender came. I sat there, listened to them and wondered , Where did I go wrong? Why did I serve in the military and graduate from a real university? They were complete mush heads. But I can hold up my head and look at myself in the mirror because I earned my pay, one promotion and pension. Most exempts never did earn what they have.

Yes, you are correct in this. It does not matter what your race, ethnic background or sex, or your education or qualifications. If you are not clouted, are not really liked by someone, you go no where. In profit making organizations, which government is not, people who can perform and make the company money move up. Not in government in Cook County. The corrupt democrats play a game of racial spoils and patronage. Sometimes, a clouted one actually is qualified. When that happens the peons are very quick to praise this person as " a good boss". They pay for their own tickets to promotion and retirement parties for these clouted ones. But, as a person who has actually been on some of these party committees, the gold stars always ask for complimentary tickets, that means they want the peons to pay for their tickets. What a system.

the most raciest and incompetent person I have ever met. He should have been fired when he was assigned to the Police Academy in the 90's. Had a very serious complaint regarding an alleged domestic battery with his then girl friend. At the same time he was being investigated for this domestic battery complaint, a female police officer filled a sexually harassment complaint against him. He was protected by Charlie Roberts, who was in charge of the Police Academy. Both complaints were killed by Roberts. Lt Mike Tolliver, who was his lieutenant at the time in the academy, really did not care for him. When Tolliver got promoted to Commander, he warned several females who worked for him at the academy to be very careful of Brown.
Cook county homeland security is the biggest waste of.taxpayer dollars ever like pretty much all of Cook county government. I heard they are also trying really hard in Springfield to get certified as a law enforcement agency because basically everyone knows they are a joke. How would you like it if Mike Masters and his minions had the power to investigate and arrest people?

It's confirmed. Friday Brown was escorted out of the building. Email locked down disabled. Staff retrieved his laptop immediately and secured it.
Anyone recall DTEB being in charge of the ambassador program? Ernie would only pick white women for the ambassador spots.
Greg Thomas is Chief of Darien IL PD. I looked it up on the net after SCC taught me how to use google on another thread. When you forget about Mark Clark or Fred Hampton or if you are too young to know, you should have some sense of curiosity to look it up. I mean really, this is why we are stuck on stupid as a society. We forget about history or do not care to learn it and learn from our mistakes.

Doubtful. Very much so. That position would also have to be approved by Preckwinkle, who everyone now knows has been out of favor with her for pretty much all of this summer. Brown did not resign, he was simply shown the door by Preckwinkle on Friday.
Sometimes your CPD dirty past can come back and bite you on the ass, big time. Why any female head of an agency would give a man like Brown, with so much alleged sexual baggage in his background from his career at CPD any high profile job is a head scratcher.

I can still remember when the local Fox station here had Masters on TV, telling people how to be safe in movie theaters.
This was right after that nut job James Holmes killed 12 people in a movie theater in Colorado. While that was indeed
a tragedy, watching Masters on TV instructing viewers on theater safety was about the silliest thing I've ever seen

Do you also think you possess grammar skills beyond that of a Catholic school 3rd grader? Because you don't. My 9 year old would laugh at your illiteracy.
Also in my experience the Sheriff's "deputies", "officers", or whatever title they carry can't even do their (note the spelling) job let alone the job of an investigator. Try getting them to take a prisoner with a hang nail for bond hearing. Try getting them to take a prisoner between the hours of 2330 and 0530 - their designated sleep on the job time.

I always thought Escamilla from 025 and Ramos were the same guy, two complete suck holes. It is amazing they were rewarded. Most intelligent people shun slobbering sycophants. I guess some get by.
