OT: The 3 Blue Cross/Blue Shield Medicare Advantage Health Insurance PPO Plans proposed for Retirees has many Physicians/Specialists and their Billing Departments backing off those 3 Plans (not accepting them)....saying (a) they will NOT Accept Replacement Plans for 2017 and (b) Doctor's offices are saying to NOT give up ones Medicare to a Medicare Advantage (Managed Care) Plan cause managed plans are terrible (Obamacare types) and (c) PPO's mean Docs must be 'In Network' to accept patients. When I spoke to a BC/BS Agent he said the plans were hurriedly assembled in late Oct. and yes, medicare advantage and PPO wording is a problem. Lots of calls about these worries and others. Further, BC/BS can not tell me if my docs are in the plans or not. Really shaken and stressed by this...cause I need the Docs I have now for huge medical reasons. Completely worried. Any answers here will be greatly appreciated cause answers are few going thru proper channels??

Illinois' debt per capita nearing $15,000
CHICAGO - Illinois' debt continues to be a growing burden to the state's taxpayers - and could be contributing to a growing drumbeat for the state's income tax rate to be raised again.
Mischa Fisher, the Policy Advisor for Economic Development to Governor Rauner, distributed a graphic to persons on his .gov email list Friday, showing Illinois' debt per capita to be less than New Jersey and Connecticut, but much more than 40 other states in the union.
That means that every person in Illinois that makes an average income has unseen debt imposed by the state government on him or her that is nevertheless real. That amount is approximately $15,000.

Giving Sanctuary Is Against The Law
President Obama has refused to take action against cities like San Francisco that shield illegal immigrants even after arrests or criminal convictions. He has deliberately ignored existing federal law. The Illegal Immigration Reform Act of 1996 requires states and municipalities to cooperate with federal authorities on immigration requests:
“A state or local government entity or official may not prohibit, or in any way restrict… sending to, or receiving from, the Immigration and Naturalization Service information regarding the citizenship or immigration status, lawful or unlawful, of any individual.” (8 U.S. Code, section 1373)
That same law allows President Obama to withhold federal financial support from those cities that continue to thwart the law. Yet, he has taken no action. If he had, perhaps Kate Steinle would be alive today.
Even Mr. Obama’s own Justice Department seems aghast at the President’s refusal to enforce the law. The DOJ’s Inspector General issued a report concluding that the policies and practices of sanctuary jurisdictions violate federal law and they are, therefore, ineligible for federal funds. The Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution gives primacy to federal law over contrary state or local laws. Does any of that matter to President Obama? Clearly not.

If the carrot and stick approach fails to force city officials to abide by the law, perhaps President Trump should begin charging people with crimes. He can do so under another federal statute which makes it a felony to shield someone who is here illegally:
“Any person who, knowing that an alien has come to the U.S. in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection such alien in any place, including any building… shall be imprisoned not more than 5 years.” (8 U.S. Code, section 1324)
Five years behind bars might give city officials pause to rethink their sanctuary philosophy. But there’s an added punishment written in the law: if someone dies because a city official decided not to comply with federal law, as in the Steinle case, the maximum penalty is life behind bars. I’m pretty sure that’ll get the attention of some sheriffs, police chiefs and mayors.
Whether President Trump and his Department of Justice will decide to criminally prosecute city officials who thumb their noses at federal law is unknown. How many innocent victims like Kate Steinle have to die before people realize that most laws exist for a reason –to protect citizens.
I have a feeling that Ronald Reagan might have done it. Maybe President Trump will channel his inner-Reagan and make the right decision.
If he doesn’t, how can he call himself the “law and order" president?
President-elect Trump has promised to take a different course, vowing to withhold federal dollars from cities that protect people who are here illegally. What would that mean? For a large metropolitan area such as San Francisco, it could lose a billion dollars in federal money which supports transportation (buses and trains), welfare payments, food stamps, roads and bridges, housing, law enforcement, Medicaid, and public safety projects.
Politicians love to take public stands on their idealistic principles, however misguided they may be. Until, of course, you hit them in the wallet. When faced with budgetary catastrophes like the loss of $ 1 billion dollars, they often exhibit a sudden change of heart. Funny how that works.

Are the "decent citizens" exempt from the law? Are they exempt from an occasional light consequence? Because that attitude is why every "my husband is a cop"'s wife flies down my block in 811 doing 40 - 50 mph, straight through the stop sign at 54th St. like there aren't 10 kids living on the block. Usually with a cell phone glued to the side of their head and a hat band on the mirror and FOP bling on the windshield and rear plate. They do the same thing right past all the stop signs at Valley Forge park after school when it is loaded with kids. There isn't an ounce of accountability. Hey 1136 you better get moving on the health plan selection. I signed up for a plan f supplement and a separate drug plan I will be paying slightly less that the better aetna plan, this factors in the loss of the 3000 irs deduction, first thing you should do is request a Termination of benefits letter from benefits management. The one they sent out isn't good enough the one you get when you request it, list you and spouse, etc.by name. It's what you need the city must supply one but you have to request it. I don't want anything to do with the city blue cross plans. I considered aetna, but I never received a package. I emailed that Labor First that is running the plan three times never received a response. So I figured if thats the way that labor first operates what will be future customer service. My suggestion to you is to find an independent insurance broker in the state you live, he can expedite things and go over the various plans available. As I said I choose a Plan F supplement to my medicare. My research has informed me that it's easy to go to an advantage plan if you want to switch (during an enrollment period), but it's not that easy to go to a medicare supplement from an advantage. Because that asshole Rahm terminated our plan you can get a plan f supplement without answering medical questions, that's why you need that Termination of Benefit letter. In the future if you want a supplement after being in an advantage plan you need to go thru a series of medical questions, which has to then go to underwriting to see if you are acceptable.
I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but since Rahm Emanuel has been on the 5th floor, this city's traffic has been complete gridlock. The reason? It seems to be twofold. First: Rahm has dismantled the Department of Streets and Sanitation to the point that every project that normally fell under the realm of the city has been taken over by outside contractors. While that might sound like a boon when he and his suburbanite peons spout numbers of the number of streets being resurfaced, the fact is that these outside contractors communicate nothing to SOS, and rip up roads ad hoc. Further, because they rip these things ad hoc and have been given carte blance by the midget on the 5th, nothing anywhere has been cross-checked. So, while you have the Jane Byrne project going, you also have the teardown of the Western over-pass, Logan Boulevard, entire swaths of the West Side (Sacramento is being torn up by People's and the Like), Elston, Fullerton, et al. All of this within a tiny little area of people. And so, because all of this is going on, you have traffic jams and the time it takes to get from anywhere to anywhere, well, it's horrific. Top that off with resurfacing on Damen, and all of the other nonsense, where developers rip things up, without permits, and you have an absolute nightmare on your hands.
This is all in addition to all of the projects going on everywhere else. All of the projects that have not been thought out. All of the things, like the Laquan McDonald tapes that were withheld so that little Rahm Wilmette Emanuel could remain the Mayor. I know that a lot of you guys think that Dart or Preckwinkle would be a bad choice, but tell me why? This little fucker in the chair on the 5th is much, much worse. He has truly made this city a worse place, from his lying about police hirings to his encouragement of citizens to engage their anger toward the CPD. He truly is the devil, and an inept one at that.

Hey 1136 you better get moving on the health plan selection. I signed up for a plan f supplement and a separate drug plan I will be paying slightly less that the better aetna plan, this factors in the loss of the 3000 irs deduction, first thing you should do is request a Termination of benefits letter from benefits management. The one they sent out isn't good enough the one you get when you request it, list you and spouse, etc.by name. It's what you need the city must supply one but you have to request it. I don't want anything to do with the city blue cross plans. I considered aetna, but I never received a package. I emailed that Labor First that is running the plan three times never received a response. So I figured if thats the way that labor first operates what will be future customer service. My suggestion to you is to find an independent insurance broker in the state you live, he can expedite things and go over the various plans available. As I said I choose a Plan F supplement to my medicare. My research has informed me that it's easy to go to an advantage plan if you want to switch (during an enrollment period), but it's not that easy to go to a medicare supplement from an advantage. Because that asshole Rahm terminated our plan you can get a plan f supplement without answering medical questions, that's why you need that Termination of Benefit letter. In the future if you want a supplement after being in an advantage plan you need to go thru a series of medical questions, which has to then go to underwriting to see if you are acceptable.
