Good News

  • The Independent Police Review Authority concluded the Chicago police officer who shot and killed Ronald Johnson was acting within policy. IPRA released their finding Friday night.

Johnson, 25, was shot and killed during a chase near East 53rd Street and South Martin Luther King Drive in the city's Washington Park neighborhood on Oct. 12, 2014. Police were responding to a call of shots fired in the area when the spotted Johnson.

Then-Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez declined to charge the officer who shot Johnson in December 2015. The city also released dash cam footage showing the end of the foot chase between the officer and Johnson.
We're not sure when IPRA goes away and COPA takes over. We're also unsure if this ties Foxx's hands in terms of empaneling a Grand Jury. It sad we have to think in those terms, but that's what Cook County has forced upon us.

Those members of the police review board better have snow tires on their cars. The black and mexican takeover will not be ending in 2016.

Good news for the officer. Too bad the thug had to push it.

The officer survived, but what did it cost him and his family?

Van dyke's offender was armed with a knife. We were trained to shoot offenders who refused to drop a knife. What is the appropriate force for a person refusing to drop a knife? 21 foot rule? Time and distance might work with a passive resister. Police need to control a scene. Tasers are great but not for deadly weapon situations. They fail and now time and distance is lost to the officer who has something to lose like himself to his family. If Van dyke waits and a copper gets stabbed..is that what they want? it is pretty mush suicide by cop when you act like mcdonald. The other coppers should have fired too....they are screwed anyway.....

Ha-ha-ha. These family members are really something, for one, they're terminally STOO-PID. That Video CLEARLY shows the mutt had a gun and once again, refused to drop it when ordered by the police. He also refused to stop running when ordered to do so by police. Any lawsuit filed by the family is frivolous, and a nuisance,

I clearly recall this incident as Anita released this video shortly after the shooting. She also showed another video of another armed suspect running from police who was able to turn and fire while still running away, that cop was hit and injured. Oh, that suspect was also shot and killed by police.

The Courts have to do something to stop these frivolous, nuisance, lawsuits that families of criminals file. Make them pay all costs for everyone and penalize these bottom-feeding lawyers. They know their 'honor student' was guilty as sin but are hoping for a settlement -- cheaper to pay than go to court and contest.

Only 35 to go to 800, 14 days, Kim will be looking to blame/charge the police to deflect the issue. Thanks again BLM and of course the ACLU.

He's toast. Did you even watch that video? Those other officers kept their distance and now risk their careers for the actions of one

Its not the public. The ones "demanding heads" are such a teeny tiny percentage of the population. Yet the media puts them on tv CONSTANTLY. They should be ignored like the insignificant scum that they are. The media is the problem.

If you were paying attention you would of known that Anita already ruled the shooting as justified.

There's no double jeopardy standard or immunity from prosecution in IPRA/COPA rulings.
Expect Krazy Klepto Kimmbrini to ignore the facts and reopen this one.
After all, it's her mandate and promise to the community.
She's already conveniently amassed a sizable Witness pool and special GJ just for this type of case, all from the
Kozy Konfines of her 32nd floor office.

Anita already walked the media through the video to show why this was a good shoot. What took IPRA so long?

They lost nothing. Remember this, it's a job. You have to go through hoops a lot and put through the ringer but it's a job when all is said and done. Loose your job, get indicted and it terrible no doubt but it's only a job. When the dust settles you have to be a man, get another job and life goes on and you will remember that you were an idiot for worrieng for years. Take it from me, I got fired, indicted and plead out to probation. I have another good paying union job and my life is better than it ever was. 7-3 union job m-f and I have a normal life. I may have "lost a lot" but in reality I lost nothing. It's a job, plain and simple. Too many people forget this and think if they get indicted or fired that life will never go on, not true it happens to police officers and others who are. It the police every single day. Some of us don't deserve to be fired or indicted but others do deserve it. Remember, not every shooting is as cut and dry at it is always reported on paper.... it's funny how all the shootings are perfect on paper but when cameras get involved it's not so perfect anymore. Be careful and keep your head low.

Whoooo weeee....I'm so glad you said that. Getting sued, fired, indicted, and convicted doesn't sound like such a big deal now. Cause it's just a job, right? Cool, I tell my wife and kids. Thanks for the pep talk. We can all just relax now.

Isn't Naperville home to a VERY large contingent
of Federal "Law Enforcement" officials?

We'd love to see THEM get tangled-up with
the urban death cultists and try to come
out with their hides intact.

"WAH! Why are you Chicago Cops SO MEAN?"

Nothing will ever change as long as the city continues to settle with these mutts. I would love to know what the connections between Corporation Counsel and these law firms that constantly sue the police are. Don't tell me they're not making backroom deals-theyre probably all old law school buddies
