Heroin OD's Pass Guns
- Opioid deaths continued to surge in 2015, surpassing 30,000 for the first time in recent history, according to CDC data released Thursday.
That marks an increase of nearly 5,000 deaths from 2014. Deaths involving powerful synthetic opiates, like fentanyl, rose by nearly 75 percent from 2014 to 2015.
Heroin deaths spiked too, rising by more than 2,000 cases. For the first time since at least the late 1990s, there were more deaths due to heroin than to traditional opioid painkillers, like hydrocodone and oxycodone.
You know what this country needs? A law against heroin. It's long overdue. Let's see if Congress can't get it passed before Sparklefarts leaves office.

(a) A person who violates Section 401 of the Illinois Controlled Substances Act or Section 55 of the Methamphetamine Control and Community Protection Act by unlawfully delivering a controlled substance to another, and any person's death is caused by the injection, inhalation, absorption, or ingestion of any amount of that controlled substance, commits the offense of drug-induced homicide.
(b) Sentence. Drug-induced homicide is a Class X felony.

A conviction for selling any amount of heroin or cocaine/crack should be 30 to 50 years and any chance of parole comes after doing half the sentence. So you're looking at doing 15yrs thru 25yrs if granted a parole based on original sentencing. Get 40yrs and you have to do at least 20yrs. Watch how fast the sellers at all levels dry up. But of course there will be a progressive president who will pardon those convicted of selling heroin or cocaine/crack as a non-violent crime, along with it being racially disproportionate to the rest of the population.
Have to wonder if the progressives/socialists really want to stop illegal drugs destroying and killing the population? And legalizing is not the answer. Bad enough booze is legal and look at the destruction, in various forms, it has on the population. Cannabis is not looking so great either, DUIs are up in states that have legalized cannabis.
Where are all those Opium Poppy fields and Coca plant fields in the US. They must be in the US, because everyone tells me how secure the borders are and we do not need any expensive walls.

I was working VRI and I asked a couple of coppers how district 025 was? Not one had anything positive to say. In 2017 I anticipate a couple of bid openings. Im a patient at Haymarket in 012 and we see around 2-3 ODs a week. I've been sober now for the 8 months I've been there but it seems that the Fentanyl laced dope is whats doing people in. Also a big THANKS to the officers in 012 who have to deal with our shit.

What a ridiculous statement. If you're given an order to report to the W/C or Commander's office what are you going to do, bring your partner or watch rep with you? So let's say you do just that, then the boss tells you to step in and close the door. Are you going to refuse unless your witness is present? You don't have the right to refuse an order. And you don't have the right to have a "representative" present since it's not part of an investigation or hearing. This is very bad advice that could get someone a big suspension for disobeying an order. I've seen first hand someone refuse to report to the Sergeant's office when ordered to do so and they got 30 days for disobeying a direct order after the CR investigation was completed.
SCC, you're generally on point but on this one you're way off. You should think through your advise before posting.

SCC, can we get a fresh thread about this? What is a copper to do? Can the FOP or lawyers or Old Timers chime in? Obviously, if you are being called in and it is not about favorite Christmas cookies, then it is a discipline action. If no CR is generated, then it is some form of extra-judicial discipline. The door gets shut for the express purpose to limit witnesses to improper disciplinary proceedings. I know all the white shirts are going to say they can do what ever they want. But doesn't this run counter to the Legitimacy Training we all were given by the Department. I'm sure when push comes to shove the boss will write you up for some pimpy thing like uniform or beat integrity after he dresses you down for less than expected activity. That is their favorite escape valve. Thoughts?

Naperville is also home to the largest concentration of federal police officers, federal agents (fbi, dea, you name it, etc.) plus a lot of suburban cops. So anytime a person gets stopped and they mention that dad or mom is a cop or a fbi agent then nothing happens. Then they get professional courtesy. Upon approval a fee of 1500.00 usd cash must be passed through a COUNTY COMMERSIONER to the above SHERIFF.
DUID Cards would be valid for a period of 90 days or when the card holder expires which ever is first!

The call for more Narcan is not a Progressive idea. This is from normal, decent folks who are trying to save the lives of people who've made bad choices somewhere along the way. Watch the movie "Traffic" with Michael Douglas. He plays a judge in Ohio who is appointed to head the President's Office of National Drug Control Policy, taking on the title of drug czar. His daughter is a drug user and gets hooked on heroin. It's pretty sad and eye opening. Not all drug users are the result of bad parenting. I have no idea what percentage of users revived by Narcan go on to turn their lives around but everyone should be given the chance. You sir, have no heart. If you have kids, imagine one of your children getting hooked through no fault of your own. Would you choose to let them die? Ponder that for a while. I'm sure I already know the answer.
I asked a kid from Downers Grove how many times has he been to rehab and he told me 4. I asked him how many times he spent time in jail and he told me 0. Maybe it's time the guys in 10/11 focus on them who are buying jabs and not the local vagrant buying 1 or 2 bags in the morning.

I'm not the original poster, but have to agree with it. If my kid got hooked on heroin, as sad as it might be, and OD and died that was the kid's choice. I believe that it would save my family a world of heartache, the sooner it happened instead of prolonging it for years with interventions and failed treatments.
The downside is that it is increasingly difficult to get pain medications for legitimate reasons, even with MRI's and other conclusive tests. Thanks to the addicts of America, now MD's want to pawn off patients on pain clinics. Need some medication for arthritis or a back problem, here's the cup for the pee test.

The data on medical errors is sketchy at best. If you read the original study, its depends on a lot of interpretation of interpretations.
