2017 Crime Reduction Underway
- A man fatally shot a teenager who attempted to rob him Friday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to Chicago Police.
The 33-year-old man went to the 4800 block of West Ferdinand to purchase something he saw for sale online and was confronted by a 19-year-old man who announced a robbery and showed a gun, police said. A struggle ensued, and the 19-year-old was shot in the chest about 12:25 p.m.
The teen, identified as Carlos James, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. He lived in the same block as the shooting.
Countless robberies, aggravated batteries and homicides were prevented next year by this justified shooting. One report has the victim as a Concealed Carrier, though we can't confirm this at the moment. Regardless, it'll go down as a justified.

Give it up. That was bad shoot. No other agency in this state, that I know of, would have backed that shooting and called it justified. Therein lies the problem. Recognize it or not there are things you can do in no other place than Chicago. When it works, great. When it doesn't, you're screwed. Period. Anyone who has ever went to an academy for a Cook County department, outside of Cook County, can tell you how often you hear "except for those of you in Cook County" and "they do whatever they want." Chicago has been able to do its own thing because it is, truly, its own beast. Unfortunately, too many Chicago coppers have not been able to make the transition and realize when the Chicago way is actually not lawful or justifiable. The contact card fever is a prime example. The bosses were clearly ordering officers to violate constitutional rights to obtain contact cards. The sad part isn't the officers who realized it. It was the officers who actually believed it was okay. Stay current on your law and court findings or get strung up by your department.
2017 - The Year of the Thug.
I don't expect much to come from Rahm in regards to ghetto crime reduction, if trends continue 2017 will be a banter year for lawless urban predators. Your attempts to interfere with their efforts will be met with swift and heavy discipline, which will be widespread and plenty of it for everyone up and down the line.
There's just too many criminal voters that will be offended if there was any type of pro-active rush to calm the savage violence.
Resolve to stay out of the ghetto this year. The further out of control the folks get will make it impossible for Rahm or his ineffective Superintendent to change the course. I don't think any of President Trump's influence will be allowed to alter how Rahm runs this city on a day to day basis, and even if national mandates are implemented, Rahm will ignore them.

The insignia he wears on his vest cover is the nationally recognized symbol of SWAT-not the full bird colonel military insignia you speak of. Lt. WW served on the SWAT team for many years and has earned that right to wear the pin. WW is a good dude your commander assement I agree with.
