Another "No Gun" Headline
That's the first thing the media is putting in the headlines:
And Special Ed is showing up to strip every one in person now:
- An off-duty Chicago Police officer fatally shot another man on the Northwest Side after an argument Monday morning, officials said.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the slain man as 38-year-old Jose Nieves. He was shot several times and did not have a weapon, police spokesman [...] said.
“I have a lot more questions than I do answers at this time,” Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said during a briefing with reporters. “I came out because I wanted to make sure that the investigation was done properly.”
He doesn't even trust IAD to strip officers now - he wants to be in at the feeding frenzy himself.
We have no information on this shooting, and we probably have as many questions as Special Ed has. We're sure they'll be answered as the investigation progresses. What we do know is that Foxx is all over this one at the moment.

No no no. Dis is what happened
We will see numerous indictments of police in 2017 with thanks to Sharon Fairley and Kimesha Foxx....Be careful boys and girls
I am sure that politics and personal agendas will not affect the investigation.

“I came out because I wanted to make sure that the investigation was done properly.”
So he's basically saying that it didn't matter if the 3000+ shootings from last year were conducted properly or not? Does this mean that if he does not show up at any future crime scenes/shooting investigations, it means he does not care if it was done properly?
Cause FatHeadEd making his presence known surely indicates that the investigation would be done "properly".
FatHeadEd couldn't investigate his fat ass with both hands.
Well, the "victim" has over 30 arrests, but let's not mention that part, it's not fair.
They are stripping him. IPRA is now doing investigations with ASA
Look, I'm a supporter of this blog and understand your predisposition for what is going on these days, but yikes, this story appears very, very ugly. At some point, for really messy stuff like this, for any organization or company the boss needs to get involved...that's just the way of the world. I think you unnecessarily discredit yourself with these 100% one-sided reactions, because there are times (arguably this is one of them) when man, it doesn't look so good.

What kind of leadership is that when you throw all your investigators under the bus as incapable right out the gate? Why would anyone want to work for this guy?

Yeah-and he would know if the " investigation was done properly", right?
It is Foxx's first good attempt to mess with a cop.
Where is there an inspector when you need one? All the photos of the gold stars with Special Ed in the news articles are not wearing the required tie, which is a part of that uniform. WRITE THEM UP!!
I love Chief Staples! I'll work for you any day
Foxx is chomping at the bit to indict a police officer. All you hard chargers take note.
The supt was on the scene and asked the officer for his I.D. and star,TRUE FACT..

First of all, this is a police blog. So you will get a police slant of view. Don't like it, then go on the National Geographic blog. Have a nice day.
This one is going bad. Hope the coppers that responded to previous incidents called a sgt to the scene. Also hope that the sgt initiated a cr. If not, they will hang these guys and say that if they had acted properly the shooting would have been prevented. We all know that IPRA wouldn't have investigated any cr for months but it will be put on the district coppers.

If it doesn't look so good then tell us what happened. Yes the boss does need to get involved but any boss with an ounce of sense will keep his mouth shut until the facts are out. The "boss" should show up on scene of any police involved shooting involving a death, on or off duty.
He called him a "victim".
After saying he has more questions than answers.

I thought I recognized the name from a previous news story a few months ago.

Sooooooo, don't be completely 100% one-sided....like you're being right now? A lot of things "look" bad but the truth is criminals are violent. Chicago has a lot of violent criminals. Violent encounters never look good. Violent encounters look mean. Police get involved with violent criminals who don't like going behind bars. Police don't like getting injured in violent encounters. Police do bad things that don't look good to bad people to avoid going to hospital or grave. Although justified, police still labeled bad for not hugging bad people into submission.
Is that a basic enough breakdown for you? This is the real world, act accordingly. I will start slamming every cop without knowing the facts, that sounds fair.
Looking at the Trib photo, I would not have guessed this guy was a leader of the nations 2nd largest police force.
Geez, buy a decent set of OD clothes.
But I digress.
"Special Ed has more questions than answers"
— How do I get a copy of those questions?
Jugghead and his infinite wisdom and investigative savvy.
I'm enthralled by his acumen.
When does AARP Granny Clampett get her shot?

How about we all wait for the FACTS, not the slant, not the agenda, not the potential payout from the biased lawsuit... How about we wait for the INVESTIGATION to reveal the FACTS.
That's not being one-sided. It's being fair. It's being impartial. It's the RIGHT THING TO DO. Try it once.

Can you please post the part of the use of force model that states deadly force is required based on the # of cb's a person has!! If the guy was armed, good shoot but if he had 300 arrest was unarmed & wasn't trying to disarm the PO why would you shoot? Because he has previous arrest?
I can just see down the road a bit when a Police Shooting goes to trial....The Defense Attny will ask the Ofcr/ Det./ E.T., if Ole Special Ed was on the scene to make sure it was done properly. When told NO, the defense Attny will then call for a mistrial or some other nonsensical B.S....;...
Sorry but you don't have any correct info other than he was on the scene. The Supt doesn't strip officers. He tells the IAD Chief to strip them. The officer hasn't been stripped yet but I guarantee hey will be stripped before today is over.
The dead guys father says he supports the Police, I wonder how many lawyers have called him with the promise to make it right by suing all involved for a 7 figure sum, but wait this is near Humboldt Park, the loyal congressman will have to step in for proper protection of the families rights, oh boy this will be a circus.

Baby dick, that's the point. It doesn't matter what a situation looks like unless you're a liberal, part of the media that panders to liberals, or a politician pandering to the media that panders to liberals. What matters is the investigation. The aforementioned idiots don't wait for an investigation and it's results. They're more concerned with what it looks like. The only reason that crooked coward superintendent was on scene was to pander. Any type of investigator who knows the job will tell you his presence will do nothing but hamper the investigation. While your "support" is just super awesome, YOU discredit yourself with comments such as yours that betray your total lack of knowledge and perspective regarding such matters.
Did anyone notice that the Crisco Kid was out of uniform by wearing a non approved outer garment. Gee lets strip fat boy!
This one isn't the one to put up a fight for. The officer has issues.

Oh boy did not take long for the suck holes to come out
This is what passes for leadership on Chicago. You people are screwed. Who would follow any of these assets to 7-11 for a Big Gulp? Let alone be inspired to do anything. There is too much CYA and not enough (any) being out with the troops.
This is not going to end well for your city. Even the Donald cannot bring the necessary changes. Only after it gets much worse than it is now, say 3-5 killings with 20-25 shot a day will your city demand action. But then, who cares. Just another Democrat corrupt to the core. The smart ones already gone and the ones left desperate.
Real Mad Max senecio setting up. Make Detroit look attractive.
tried doing an e-mail, but for whatever reason, it wasn't working, so sending it this way.
Check out the Facebook page for this dude. Cheo Nieves. Then scroll down at his photos. Now answer me this, how does this POS have a photo of one of his mugshots, obviously a screen shot from DataWarehouse, on his Facebook page. That's not a public website.

The Tribune posts mugshots all the time, all from DataWarehouse. Once you're booked, the mugshot is public record. Look for Finnegan's mugshot - it's out there. Most people don't post it as they're ashamed.
Staples and Nagode look way out of uniform.... duty belt? firearm?
By saying he wanted to make sure the investigation was done right, ED is implying that by his not being there it might be done wrong.....
that is not a strong voice of support for your detectives.

People here like to play tit for tat with the media. The first "facts" about a police involved shooting shoul always be
A) how many arrests the deceased has
B) how many pictures of gang signs the deceased has
C) how many pictures of guns the deceased has
Now, I'm not a cop, so I don't care how cops look in the media if the story sounds sketchy (like the shooting in Englewood 2 months ago where there was a gun.. And then no gun). I also don't care how the media makes the deceased look when the story sounds like a cut and dry justifiable shot by officers.
But one thing people around here need to realize, is those 3 points I stated up above usually won't matter in court. And that's the most important part.
READ YOUR GENERAL ORDERS:
If you shoot someone either on duty or off duty, and that person dies, IPRA is the lead investigator.
If you didn't get that: IPRA, yes IPRA, is the lead investigator. CPD detectives will not, and legally cannot, investigate the shooting part of the incident. It is also state law.
Look it up if you still don't believe it.
@6:44... Talking to these people is like clapping with one hand. You posted a very moderate response and look what happened. If only they would realize it is that zealous attitude that pushed everyone away from them in the first place. What's the saying? You can't teach a dumb dog tricks?
....because there are times (arguably this is one of them) when man, it doesn't look so good.

Well, if you'd pull your head out of your ass, presuming it is your ass you've got your head shoved way up in there, your view might acquire greater clarity.....
Remember to flush the shit out of your eyes....even if all you have available is your own piss..
..If the guy was armed, good shoot but if he had 300 arrest was unarmed & wasn't trying to disarm the PO why would you shoot? Because he has previous arrest?
