First Homicide - 019
- Two men shot to death Sunday morning in the North Side Uptown neighborhood were the first two reported homicides of 2017 in Chicago, after a bloody 2016 saw 780 homicides in the city.
The two men were shooting at each other about 4:25 a.m. inside of a business in the 4600 block of North Broadway, according to Chicago Police.
That doesn't sound like two homicides at all. That sounds like one killed and one self-defense killing. We imagine that the D-unit will classify it as such to avoid a double on the books the first night. An e-mailer relates that 011 might have had the first, except no one called in the dead guy lying on the sidewalk for two hours until after sunrise, so 019 gets the credit.
On a side note, HeyJackass has the totals at 795, just short of 800, but that is with nearly three dozen open "death investigations."
The Sun Times says 780, but who knows from where Mope-rah pulls her numbers.
The Department claims around 760, but they lie constantly.
In any event, at 3-a-day, Chicago is on pace to tally 1,095 homicides this year, meaning Special Ed should be unemployed by April at the latest.

If the Sun Times is claiming 780, that's including the 20 freeway homicides the city isn't, but not the 15 justifiable that Hey Jack ass does.

Just wondering. Having traveled this once great country extensively, I've found that the "element" is the "element" in every major metropolitan setting. That being said, why is it our "element" is so quick with the gunplay. I know the usual excuses, but those can somewhat be used everywhere else without the body count. What is it about our Rhodes scholars that makes them light up their neighborhoods at the drop of a hat? The crew at 60 minutes would like to know, since they obviously (erroneously) think the police are at fault. Any ideas?

Do the numbers. 90% of those killed are low life criminals themselves. Figure each of them costs the taxpayers $20,000 each year in food stamps, housing assistance, medical care, cost of the crimes they commit, incarceration, etc. These goofs are imposing the death penalty on themselves, and this year alone will save us $15,000,000. That's $600 million over an average 40 more years lifespan, just for this years crop alone. What's the beef? Reverend Al says go to it.

I saw that segment on 60min -total sloppy piece of journalism, if you can even call it that. Every person they interviewed was a clown. Number one idiot was McCarthy, with Special Ed being a very close #2. McCarthy and his out of control contact card policy is one of many reasons why the dept is now under the scrutiny of the DOJ and the ACLU. He was nothing but a political hack in the first place. Ed is in the same boat now, and he is just reading the script that the mayor orders him to follow. The retired guy who works as counselor had the opportunity to relate the environment and standpoint of the average patrolman in this current anti-police climate, but instead sounded like he had one too many shots of bourbon right before the interview. He could have given some insight and clarity to the audience and just sounded unprepared and inarticulate. The mother of the college basketball star who got shot hanging on the corner with his "friends" offered nothing substantial to the piece. She was just an emotional prop for the story. Another baby momma who never criticizes the thug life or the culture of violence in her community, but blames the police for not "doing anything". She'd been the first one in line to sue the dept for violating her baby's civil rights had the officers stopped him and his buddies hanging on the corner that night. Then they interview father flaker - nothing but nonsense and hot air from that phony windbag. His legs should've fallen off already from all the marching against violence in the hood. And that retired pos who was so offended by his fellow officers' actions on the street- nice to see he really made a difference in the last 23 years he was on the job. Must have been a real treasure to work with that guy. Probably worked inside somewhere for the last 20 because he was so traumatized by what he observed on the street. Guess gangbanging, shooting, and stabbing is much more appealing to watch.

Eli should have put in his papers at least a couple of years ago. He won't be promoted any higher, and frankly, no one in this dept. gives a damn about any exempt working 8, 10, 12, 16 or 23 hours per day. All that extra hours is going to get you is what it got him, a quick exit, shabby health (at best) post retirement, and another schmuck to be promoted to the exempt ranks.
Hope you heal up soon, Eli. Find something else to do that gives you joy, because you won't find it at 3510.
