After his little ranting on "60 Minutes," Garry realized that his (or his wife's) future employment prospects might be in jeopardy in the form of a 9.5 digit midget. He therefore attempted to make immediate amends:
- Former Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy says there needs to be more emphasis on stopping criminals than criticizing police.McCarthy spoke on the WGN-TV Morning News Monday. He wanted to clarify statements made in a "60 minutes" interview about Chicago street violence.
Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Even a dog from New York.

Every time i see a story on 60 minutes - i have to remind myself of some of their stories on CPD in the past before i give the current story any credence. "See B S!' But it is nice to see Rahm get shit from ANY media outlet.

Is there anyone that thinks he may be contemplating a run for the top spot and redeeming himself in the eyes of the public? Let's face it before the McDonald shooting he was liked and respected by the residents of the City. That plus his arrogance may be enough to convince himself to run for mayor and get payback on 9.5.

Actally listened to McCarthy's interview on the link provided here. While,McCarthy isn't blameless in the current state of afdairs here, he made several good, rational points as to how,we arrived at the,current 'under seige' situation.

There are very few coincidences in politics! How is it that McCarthy is on 60 Minutes, New York Papers lead with the carnage in Chicago, the Drudgereport highlights the carnage in Chicago? I was in Michigan for New Years, and the Grand Rapids Michigan News Fox T.V. outlet lead their evening news with: "Record Breaking Homicide Rate in Chicago for 2016." Why is Chicago suddenly in the spotlight, when this issue was evident to those of us who read this Blog for the entire year? Is this a concerted effort to attack Rahm by those who now realize he has lost Power with the White House, unless he approaches through his brother? Not to be misunderstood, we should welcome ANY attack on Rahm and his hypocrisy, but something bigger is going on here. EVERY OFFICER needs to be very careful, of what you do or say. Chicago is now in the Spotlight, for whatever reason, and they are not doing it to make us more desirable for tourism. Watch each other's backs! F&ck Chicago Values. Baby"G"

I watched the interview on 60 minutes. McCarthy made the comment that police were "on their heels for a number of reasons." It appeared that those reasons were edited out of the interview. Is there a site where the entire interview is broadcast without editing? Did he elaborate on the "number of reasons?" If he did, I wonder who made the decisions to keep those reasons from the public who should know the whole story. Any ideas?

Who really cares what McCarthy has to say in regards to anything? Especially in law enforcement. He put his strategies in place here in Chicago for crime reduction and those same strategies were epic failures! Look at who he promoted. The list is horrendous. He is now working for Rick Simon who is confirmed to be involved in organized crime. Why are these news media outlets giving this guy the opportunity to say anything at all? It's over for him. Let him hang out with his hoodlum buddies. Go away Garry. You were never the police anyway. Less then five years in a beat car does not make you a policeman. It makes you an individual who went on to the New York police department with connections because of your father who was respected on NYPD. He called in favors for you and your were subsequently promoted far beyond your abilities. That's why CPD was stuck with you and now has to deal with the aftermath!
It is quite entertaining watching the fools turn around and argue the opposite of what they argued just weeks ago for many many years, ain't it? I mean, jeepers, it is like they had a epiphany or something. For many years they called us all stupid and racist and bigots and every other derogatory words they could come up with,and now they all of a sudden start saying what we have been saying all along, and they act as if they came up with this on their own?

His comments on 60 Minutes and WGN have been posted on my (75% white) neighborhood FB page and 99% of the comments about McCarthy are positive. When challenged about past missteps, L McDonald, etc, they give him a pass and say Rahm made him do it. People state they hope he's running for Mayor.
