Well well well, John Arena is about to fuck the 45th ward and the 41st Ward a s a matter of fact. Let's see it was about five or six years ago when the 45th ward had an excellent candidate for alderman very pro police, as a matter of fact he is the police. John Garrido. As one of many police officers that assisted Garrido in his campaign I find John to be very intelligent. He was promoted off the list never meritoriously, finished law school and passed the bar exam on his first try. Pretty impressive if you ask me. John also makes it his business to be well versed on the general orders and is very in knowledgeable regarding the law. John is very pro police and many times over the years has played a major role in supporting police that have either gotten hurt or in trouble on the job.
When John discovered there was a real opportunity to run and win the 45th ward Alderman's seat which was when Pat Levar stepped down , John took it upon himself to run for alderman. He commited himself to the election. He used all his furloughs, personal days, comp time and his own money in an attempt to successfully win the election. I forget the actual number and I'm sure someone will correct me but John lost his first Aldermanic campaign by I believe "27" votes. Practically a tie. As if losing the campaign wasn't bad enough the real kicker here was the fact that many 45th Ward police officers didn't come out and vote for John. Many said they supported him but didn't vote. Then of course you had some haters. Police officers that were so jealous that John would be able to retire pull his police pension which he earned and collect an alderman'a salary so they wouldn't vote for John. Hundreds of police officers in the 45th ward that didn't vote for John.
So let me ask you rocket scientists who were too busy or too stupid to vote for John Garrido, don't you think that may have actually been a good idea to have an intelligent police officer fighting Rahm and all his bs let alone doing what we know is right for the neighborhood like not purring a 100 plus unit section 8 building in the middle of the 016th District. Just looking for advice. Retired CFD here and looking to bailout of the city and state. Where is a good place to relocate to? I was still thinking about Florida because of the zero tax advantages. Arizona would tax my retirement income at 4.5% Nevada and Texas which are zero state tax as well on retirement income do not seem that too exciting. What do current or future retirees think? As one of many police officers that assisted Garrido in his campaign I find John to be very intelligent. He was promoted off the list never meritoriously, finished law school and passed the bar exam on his first try. Pretty impressive if you ask me. John also makes it his business to be well versed on the general orders and is very in knowledgeable regarding the law. John is very pro police and many times over the years has played a major role in supporting police that have either gotten hurt or in trouble on the job.
When John discovered there was a real opportunity to run and win the 45th ward Alderman's seat which was when Pat Levar stepped down , John took it upon himself to run for alderman. He commited himself to the election. He used all his furloughs, personal days, comp time and his own money in an attempt to successfully win the election. I forget the actual number and I'm sure someone will correct me but John lost his first Aldermanic campaign by I believe "27" votes. Practically a tie. As if losing the campaign wasn't bad enough the real kicker here was the fact that many 45th Ward police officers didn't come out and vote for John. Many said they supported him but didn't vote. Then of course you had some haters. Police officers that were so jealous that John would be able to retire pull his police pension which he earned and collect an alderman'a salary so they wouldn't vote for John. Hundreds of police officers in the 45th ward that didn't vote for John.

No one was wearing their Trump hats or displaying Trump signs for fear of physical attacks. No one who was supporting Trump talked to pollsters or talked to reporters. The polls all put Hillary way ahead. They were surprised when Trump won, but in looking back it was obvious; people were afraid of the progressive verbal and physical attacks on them for even thinking of voting for Trump. I was at the meeting last night. I was very impressed with the attendees. Many had very lucid, and well researched comments, in objection to this "CHA" project. There are actually three projects, on the table. There were even comments from social science folks, that gave many examples that this time of urban development, does not lead to the results, the alderman is pitching. The one thing I went away with; is The Alderman is a Mean Spirited Elitist. He is going to push his progressive, liberal, agenda, down our throats. He really believes he holds the Moral High Ground. He knows whats good for us, and its his divine mission to lead us. Liberalism Is A Mental Disorder.
People need to get in Arena's face loudly, publicly and on video.

I was inside the meeting, got there early about 5:30 pm. Those who supported the project took up two rows at best. The indoor crowd was overwhelmingly against the project. Arena got the proverbial boot in the ass from angry residents and Trump supporters. A female PO, who was the head of the Young GOP, spoke eloquently about the hateful post and her opposition to the project. She reminded me a lot of the First Daughter Ivanka, all class. CPD Lt. John Garrido got two standing ovations when he got up to speak. It was a long night for Arena, he sat on stage looking down at the floor as neighbors pummeled him for his hateful remark about Trump supporters and the project. To one of the posters above, this is the far NW Side, people wearing Trump gear wouldn't be bothered at these events. An attack on one would result in a can of whoop ass from others. That reality causes people to mind their manners.
Vote him out! 016 is the last threshold for hard working blue colored city workers who care about the community and their investments. No to section 8!!!

You are kidding aren't you? The city has had a senior exemption of their water bill for years if not decades. Right now seniors dont have to pay the sewer tax which is about the same as your water bill so in effect you get a 50% savings, not a bad senior discount

I have a friend of mine who tried to get in to the meeting yesterday and was too late because of capacity. She called the office today and spoke to a Leslie. She has all the details documented, but what was striking to her was 1. Leslie was combative and interrupted her and 2. Leslie said that "this was not a referendum". The way I look at it, it is a done deal. I believe my friend is doing the research on ties with the unions involved, developer(s), shadow companies, etc. I thought the alderman were supposed to take into account what the people they represented wanted v their interests and what they think is important. Have they done a cost analysis on other developments, impact on infrastructure, schools, etc. It will be interesting what is uncovered (after he tries to "hide" it)

Meeting highlights: Arena was told by a young veteran that he was a coward and leading from behind; he should put the project in his back yard at Six Corners. A very fired up Trump supporter read his FB quote, posted on SCC's remarks, and another one where he called Trump a pussy. She told Arena that he was a pussy for keeping residents from other wards out of the meeting.
Arena got heckled during the entire meeting. No one in the audience spoke in favor of the project. People were pissed off and let him know it.
Open meetings are not to be limited and certainly not carded at the door, the Alderman didn't want the negative feed back so he decided to put those restrictions in place.! If that were the west side that meeting would have been taken over
I tried to file a complaint against Arena on the city website but the only complaint form was for police officer. Nowhere was a complaint form against an Alderman. He is limiting my freedom of information and we pay his salary!
What did Arena do prior to Alderman? Job?
