This Could be Interesting

Guess what turned up?
  • ALSO, spring cleaning in Englewood... a truly (rare as it may be) upstanding citizen on a certain block that had an OIS'ing over the holiday season uncovers a weapon lodged in between branches of a heavy bush. The residential location being within throwing distance and directly on the path of the chase the good/dumb (you pick) Sgt took. Here's to praying some DNA, finger prints or any other form of identifiers are traced by the I.S.P. lab to this shitbag. Good luck Sgt and great work by 007 (and many others) keeping this investigation alive for this guy.
Indeed.

Speaking of interesting, you know the fine upstanding citizen that the Amtrak PO shot outside of Union Station during an altercation last week . . . well it turns out ole boy was carrying $20,000 large in cash on him at the time. Goin home from a funeral my ass. Best guess he was either buyin or sellin.

Would Ed, Rahm and the media allow the truth to be let out??
Is FatHeadEd "concerned" about this? Does he have more questions than answers at this point?

Sorry, but at this point it just won't matter. The sergeant has been tried and convicted already. The poor bastard just doesn't know his fate yet.

So the liberal spin is: the police planted a "drop gun bush" and due to then nice weather it is already producing drop guns? And these were planted around the Shotspotter and other high crime districts.

On a side note, 009 also lost their lineup room for Shotspotter bs. We don't have a youth office either due to the Secret Squerl Unit and come summer we'll lose our Caps meeting room for Summer Mobile again.

Mandatory 8 po's and 1 Sgt/lt working fri-sat-sun gang missions. Wait til summer, it'll be everyday of the week. And still no cars for the po's.

Messed up but that 20k aint gonna help his case much at all. We deal with fine upstanding citizens everyday. If that was enough for deadly force the department's ammunition budget would be sky high.

JP is about as good of a guy as you're going to find on this job. Guy with a law degree who does FREE legal work and house closings for every copper he knows. You'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't like the guy. I've never met another copper who goes more out of his way to help other coppers on this job and off. Call him dumb if ya like, but the guy just did what he thought was the right thing to do. There's a reason people worked so hard to keep this investigation going for him. keep your head up JP it's almost over. If at the end of the day he loses the job, then so be it. He'll move on and the CPD will have lost a good copper. I know this tho, he can leave knowing he did what was right, and he can leave with his head up as far as I'm concerned. One less shithead we have to worry about pointing a gun at us thanks to JP.

Whatever the outcome, the Sgt. is paying a Terrible Price. The Road to Hell is paved with Good Intentions. Even if he is proven right in his actions; would what he has and will go through be worth it? Do Absolutely Nothing More than the Minimum required of your radio assignment, unless it is to assist other officers. These are the New Chicago Values. Baby"G"

Wow, thank you Citizen. Too bad most of your neighbors aren't like you, the city would be a whole lot better. Not only by turning in the gun, but for cleaning up your property.

As to the poor Sarge, even if prints or DNA has been lost due to the weather, finding that gun in the get-away path of the ::cough:: alleged ::cough:: shooter sure raises -- at the least -- Reasonable Doubt in the cops favor as it backs his version that the mutt was armed.

As such, maybe Special Ed should Strip Himself and go on 30 day Desk Duty now. It'd be *The Fair Thing* to do.

I could be wrong if they don't already have them, but how manageable of an expense would it be outfit Det/Forensic Div. with FLIR Thermal Imaging Devices for searches?
Decent handheld units sell for $500-$1000, $250 for a iPhone adapter unit (plus 5th party city vendor markup).
I've see FLIR imager mounted on vehicles to track any heat source with ability to discern a target.
It may not be the single ideal solution to track people or search for objects but another tool could certainly help.
Think of all the bullshit wasteful spending on nonsense every District spends or HQ authorizes for community events.
Ten imagers for $10k is a drop in the bucket.
$10k for police equipment is cheap compared to the multi million dollar SlapShot-LookWhatIGot camera rooms or just foregoing a couple CAPS outings.

We don't know if the recovered weapon is in fact THE alleged weapon held by the deceased youth. Probably best to put the back slapping on hold for now, until forensics has the final say about it. Lots of guns get tossed away on the streets of Chicago.

There has been a small whisper of a rumor for some time now that a patrolman on the scene of the initial shooting had spoken to the injured youth before he expired, and that the teen admitted before his death that he did have a handgun, and tossed it. It's also been said that this officer informed the investigating detectives about this statement, but that those same detectives ignored it, concentrating on other areas of investigation, never documenting the statement provided by this patrolman at that time. If this in indeed the case, then the detectives seriously dropped the ball with respect to that statement, and that will only serve to make the department look even more inept than it does today. If nothing comes up on this recovered weapon, it will only serve to appear to those conspiracy theorists that it was planted in an effort to protect a clouted sergeant. Either way, I don't see much of an upside coming out of this recent 'recovered weapon.'

For the asshole who wants to know what the FOP is supposed to do? How about get the word out there that this could be assholes gun before the media twists the story even more and makes their own story up. Have them go on tv, radio and all the other nonsense social media networks. Say something on the side of the officers statements and actions. Because you know the department and the supe won't. And by rules and regulations we can't, get it? Once upon a time the department and the supe would give the officer the benefit of saying "the investigation is ongoing." And that was it. Now it's just some fat cock sucker who talks out his ass saying "I have more questions than answers." Then winds up with his foot in his mouth when evidence supports the officers statements.

That still does not explain why the Amtrak officer fired on and killed an unarmed man. Weed dealing (alleged) is not a capital offense, last time I checked.
