Car Stolen!!!
- Police recovered a stolen car early Thursday, only for it to be stolen again from the Harrison District police station parking lot on the West Side.
About 12:30 a.m., Harrison District officers recovered the black 2014 Dodge Challenger, which had been stolen from the 4100-block of West Adams, according to Chicago police.
The officers took the stolen vehicle to the police station parking lot in the 3100 block of West Harrison so they could complete paperwork, but the car was eventually stolen again, police said.
This happens almost daily across the city. We haven't worked in a District yet that didn't have this happen at least once a year. But we suppose when Rahm needs his daily dose of making the cops look bad, the media is all too eager to please. Too bad they don't look at maybe a secure lot or a more readily available (and efficient) towing service to prevent this sort of thing.

Why don't they put a boot on the stolen cars like they used to on the ones that have a lot of unpaid tickets? I haven't seen those boots in my neighborhood for some time, but I do know that they are used by private companies if you park on a private lot and then walk away from the business that owns the lot. Gotta come up with $100 cash or credit to get the boot off.
Maybe they can take a SPARE squad car and block it it.
HA! I can't even believe I typed that idea!!
Or how bout something simple such a 24/7 parking lot patrol and camera surveillance.
Rookie error. Even if you hide it, you still disable it.
Once upon a time when Policemen had the time to do
Police-y type stuff, we would sometimes hide
nearby to catch m/fers trying to snatch-back a vehicle.
Hmmm... We wonder what would happen if an enterprising
Copper employed a valve stem wrench, then inventoried
them as prisoner's property in order to keep the car
from disappearing out of the Police lot?
"Hey man... Did you get my car out the lot?
Fuck you MEAN all the tires are flat an'
you had to leave it?"
Well, maybe not.
IPRA/COPA will construe this as some kind of
"Criminal Damage" even though tires go flat
all the time.
...With or without human assistance.
"Po-leece shouldn't be allowed to play
dirty tricks like that!"
It is what it is.
The only way that Dodge could have been secured would have been to park it inside one of the bays till a tow retrieved it or the owner did. But then someone would have had to move a car.
Or disable or box it in
Much to do about nothing..... other than to keep pushing Rahm and the medias anti police agenda.
This has happen a lot the dope boys know how to do it good for them fuck the city
The city that works (or doesn't)
Not the cops fault.
City has no secure lots.
Anyone can walk thru any CPD lot or building at will.
Blame Rahm NOT the cops.
Station security has always been a problem. Area North has folks cutting across the lot all the time for traffic reasons. 025's back lot is poorly lit, thus all kinds of people going back there after their car is impounded. Probably a citywide issue.
They are bold little Democrats, aren't they?
This is a common occurrence in the beautiful and lovely 003 district
How about a secure police facility so things like this don't happen.
(OT) wait what's this?
http://www.theamericanmirror.com/malik-obama-shares-photo-brother-baracks-kenya-certificate-birth/
Malik Obama shares photo of brother Barack’s Kenya ‘certificate of birth’
What's this looks like very very own brother is showing a true certificate of birth President Trump and many others were correct again apparently we had a totally illegitimate president that should've been there no wonder why nothing was ever accomplished and nothing was ever done while and this man was elected and people protest President Trump who has already brought over 300,000 American jobs back to this country and he is getting more and more coming in on a daily basis. How could anybody mourn the loss of this man losing the election area Obama who now is set to try to destroy president trumps administration at every turn this is totally ridiculous the Attorney General Jeff sessions and the FBI director Jim must immediately get involved in this stop all the nonsense that the FBI is investigating the false Russian President Trump narrative and jump on top of this this is the worst thing that is ever happened in this country and the terms of our our elected process this is terrible incredible and to "former president he really acted stupidly" now our mayor is in Washington fun raising you you mean to tell me or tell anyone that the mayor and all the rest around the Democratic Party did not know that the president that was born in Kenya was a totally illegitimate president and should've never ever been in office.
Then we have all the protesters that are causing mayhem and a half back everywhere yet they were here without a permit obstructing our streets of strengthening our people in the mayor did not log it did not allow the law to be enforced just like the mayor is doing currently disobeying federal laws I need an illegal immigration you wonder what part of a legal that he and the other elected don't understand they keep saying they are there they are the country was built on immigrants yes it was illegal immigrants what part of illegal illegal don't they understand but there we go again breaking federal law to allow illegal immigrants that you have to know the law before you break the law and they said more fun.
The FOP needs to sue for possession of the city's tangible assests like Detroit police did, before somebody else does, so we're not the last ones standing without a chair when the music stops. The city had to buy it back the assests.
WAKE UP FOP!
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
How would the news even find out about it???
Was it Trump and the Russians again!!!
First rule, when you park a stolen ride in the police lot, disable it electronically.
Didn't Rahmulus promise to improve station security after the 14 year old went on patrol several years ago??
A pebble under the valve cap.
this used to happen monthly in the old 007 lot for towed vehicles. The lot was at the end of the block with a padlocked chain link fence. No problem for the local thieves which are plentiful in 007.They cut the lock, rammed the gate etc. Then helped themselves. No effort by the department or the city to make this more secure or to put a camera or alarm on the lot. The district commander allowed the then alderwomen who owned a business to park her numerous business vehicles in the police lot. Most of them did not have city stickers. no problem tho, the alderwomen was a friend of the DC. Tickets were written but promptly non-suited
Lol...
Wait till the Zombies attack !!
Same lot some asshole broke the Windows of p.o.'s working VRI. Or the lug nuts loosened on squad cars. Not a mention by the news media.
I was thinking the same thing.
This happened all the time but the question is who informed the media or was stupid enough to put all the info on the radio?
Funny thing was a few months ago 011 th district had two vehicle stolen within 20 minutes of each other in the same lot haha

Gawd forbid someone should park a vehicle in a supervisor's or the guys from upstairs, in the area spot. Talk about bitchin and moaning. There's like 8 million supervsior spots. And an entire lower level of area guys spots. But let a po park in one of them and see what happens.
I remember getting a Hot Car with Heads around Laramie and Madison back in the day. The Boss said to disable the vehicle so that it would still be there for the tow. I slashed a couple of the tires, Boss yelled saying that he meant I should have pulled the plug wires, ooops. The Job used to be so fun, has that all changed.
Stay Frosty - Stay Safe
Dodge-Chrysler and Stolen go together.
Effective towing operation...before the City privatized & hired a connected outside contractor (which was a huge improvement over wait list SOS), we used to simply disconnect the battery.
Too much trouble now with every hardcharger out looking for a CTTV w/No DL.
Be thankful HennyPenny isn't the DSS handing out at minimum, a reprimand for not properly securing recovered property.
Again, why bother with Ervin's Ghetto...Stay Fetal.
Disconnect and inventory the spark plug wires...then that car wont go anywhere. LOL
Impounded some dope boys short body Caddy back in the early 90s. His boys on scene were rumbling how they were going to come to the station and snatch it up before the tow got there.
Joke was on them. On the way back to the station as I drove dude's car in I decided to forego the impoundment and just leave it as a simple TVB. While my partner was in the station writing tickets I was switching the firing order of that motor via a few spark plug wire switcharoos.
As promised, the car was gone when we walked dude outside after the I-Bond... misfiring and shaking like a MF'er E/B on Chicago Avenue.
Ah, the Good Ol' Days.

The bigger question is "who steasl a dodge" bet it is broken down somewhere!
So fucking what. GOA. On to the next. But SCC is right--much more important is that this article is written solely to portray us as keystone cops. There is indeed no mention of the hours-long wait for E&R to show up or the City's failure to provide a secure location to put the vehicle during that time.
The Niles police Dept, has a twelve foot fence around it, nobody comes in and no one leaves without permission and the swipe card .

There's lots of nasty tricks that can be done.
Zapping the antenna with a stun gun will send a wee bit o' voltage into the radio. Some ham radio guys still use this trick to silence douche operators that are running high gain linear amplifiers and causing all kinds of RF interference.
Sugar in the gas tank? Effective, but too obvious. Instead, take a cheapo cigar and slit it lengthwise, so that the wrapper is showing the inner tobacco. Then put the cigar in the filler pipe. Over time, the nitric acid in the gasoline breaks down the outer wrapper, allowing all these little bits of tobacco to float around where they will eventually clog the fuel pump intake. They can replace the pump, but the problem will keep repeating until the tank is removed, drained and cleaned.
People that REALLY need that personal touch somehow end up with a cupful of rice added to the radiator, which does wonders for the cooling system.
Also on the back side of the radiator, that little bit of tubing snaking back and forth is the conduit for cooling the transmission fluid. A pair of vise grips can put a crimp in that tubing pretty easily, with fatal results for the transmission within another 30-50 miles - strictly in an academic, hypothetical sort of way, of course.
Newer vehicles built in the last probably the past 20 years real easy to disable are you have to do is pull the fuse which is normally not under the hood which says ECM for electronic control module that is the computer you pull the fuse the car will not run it won't stay will crank as if it's going to start but it will not start that way you don't damage the vehicle. Doing it this way saves you a complaint and a possible suspension if you get caught with all the video cameras destroy somebody's property don't do it do it the right way it's not that hard to do.

The issue with this would be the Department would have to request that Finance have a Booter deployed to every station in the City And you would need to assign a PO to watch the booters ass while they slap a Denver on the recovered Stolen or other vehicle seized by the RO. It is a obvious safety issue after all. You guys have your side arms. Booters can't carry in a City vehicle or on City Property since not LEO or at least Sworn Special Police by the Super's Office.
Placing a Boot on a vehicle isn't hard. It can be done quite fast once the Booter gets experience.
I'm not sure what would be needed to be done to have the Districts have 1 officer per shift detailed to be the "Booter" for all vehicles brought in by the RO's.
Regards,
Finance Guy on a bike.
It wasn't stolen - Lincoln came by and relocated it. It's all legit, they have the paperwork.
An officer's vehicle was stolen in the same lot.
I'm glad to see that some people appreciate President The Donald.
Couldn't they just remove the battery? No harm to the vehicle.
