FOP Election

Supposedly, upwards of 10,000 ballots remain outstanding, hinting at a record low voter response. We hope this isn't true, especially as they sent along a pre-paid envelope to save you the fifty cents postage.

For pete's sake people, send the ballot back. We've given some advice, ask some old timers, research the tiniest bit, read the posters and literature sent to your address.

I don't think Dean is even going to make it in the top two. But if he does remember that he worked at Calumet College making six figures while collecting $60,000 per year from our pension fund. Then when pressured last year by the pension fund board its a miracle he can come back to work! Total scammer! But don't forget he is getting an award for "Protector of the working people" . How do you get that award when you haven't worked the street in 15 years.

I'm so disgusted with the ballot choices that I have not returned mine. I don't want any of the current regime to continue. I sure as hell don't want the ticket that has the former crew, Shields is not an option, and I'm not impressed with the New Direction slate either. It seems that no matter who I vote for, with the exception of Trump, it's not a winning vote. Cherry picking a candidate here and one there? I may do that, but I'm so sick of everything to do with this job, that I just don't freaking care anymore. I just want to do my 5 more years and get out...of this job, the city, the county, and the state. At this point in my life, things should be great on this job, and yet, I believe we are worse than we were. People are gonna say, "don't bitch, you didn't vote", but I truly feel like it doesn't matter.

Vote!

Or bitch and cry on the blog later
as Rahm The Bantam Rooster of a man,
flaps, crows and shits triumphantly in
another e-mail about more benefits
he's stripped from Policemen and
their families.

Food For Thought:

It's entirely possible that POTUS
is holding back to see if for ONCE,
Chicago Policemen will unite and fight
back.

If you don't? Why would he waste
federal resources to help you
re-take this city when you refuse
to even vote to help yourselves?

He could possibly bypass Chicago and
let it collapse under the weight of it's
own rot, corruption and criminality to help another
city where the Coppers have a bargaining
unit worth a goodly shit between two
shoes or where the Coppers actually
have it in them to stand and fight back.

Just sayin'.

Rahm and the people who sent him are
licking their chops at walking us backwards
on pay and benefits, busting us completely
out of our pensions and stealing them for
their own use.

Failure to properly fund = THEFT.

Reduction in benefits in light
of failure to properly fund = THEFT.

Pension Payment Holidays = THEFT.

VOTE!

And perhaps you'll get your sweet revenge
of seeing dirty cocksuckers going to federal
prison for the rest of their worthless lives
since public hanging isn't allowed.

No incumbents!
No second chances!
No continued sucking
on the membership teat
while returning the sum
total of less than Jackson J. Shit
for our membership dollars!

Stop being so damned forgiving and long-suffering!

It's past time for Policemen to use their
LONG collective memories and learn to hold grudges
against dirty, traitorous motherfuckers
who not only sold us out but irreparably
harmed our VULNERABLE widows and retirees.

And for what?

Do you buy into Rahm's "Medical Ethicist"
brother's nasty eugenicist fantasy of
leaving "no longer useful" people in
the woods naked on a bed of branches?

The non-contributory swing-dicks/hang-tits
have been slid in line ahead of YOU?

They have NO WORRIES about Rahm Emanuel
orchestrated, politically motivated
cuts and snatch-backs!

VOTE!

This election was over before it was started. So few officers take the time to ever go to a meeting even once in their career. This election has hit a record low for qualified candidates.

No one wants to be a watch rep, no one wants to be a unit rep, no one wants to go to meetings, even when officers get screwed very very few will even file a grievance. Let's not rock the boat I may screw up my future chances a meritorious promotion.

How few are signed up for email updates. Now they even tape the meetings and you can watch them on-line. Less than 40 people monthly watch the meetings at their leisure.

Shields proved once he was unqualified and shame on him. If we elect him again shame on us. The Blue Voice ticket lost any chance of being elected when their mailer came out almost a week after the ballots went out. How apropos with Dougherty and Aguilar in the office with Shields when the "letter" was not sent in on time. Again they screwed us once shame on them if we do it again shame on us.

If you don't like the candidates become a watch rep, a unit rep, go to meetings, get involved.

That's why I'm not voting for Dean and his crew.

Nothing worse than getting beat up over and over again while your big brother just stands there and watches. We need an aggressive leader guys in order to turn this around. I know some people are not fond of the young kid but much of what happened during that time was a shared responsibility of the entire board which is made up of the K. Graham ticket. We have a Commander in chief in the White House that supports Law Enforcement now is the best time for us to elect an aggressive leader.

How dare anyone expect their union to fight a contract provision that has been found unconstitutional in other cities. Do you realize how silly you sound? You are actually defending the city being allowed to impose their will on our personal lives simply because of an intrusive law and contract provision that was successfully challenged in cities that had the same thing. Just because it is in a contract doesn't make it untouchable. They touch plenty of the things in the contract that effect us and are always trying to take more and more away. Granted, the law has to be challenged and changed before the city would ever think about taking this out of a contract. But the "hair gels" pay union dues like everyone else and are entitled to express what they would like changed in the future.

Every time we get a new contract the city changes it for their benefit. So why shouldn't we try to change it for our benefit for once? Every contract we lose more and more. Anything they "give" us is only to distract us from something that they are taking from us or setting us up for losing something in the following contract. They only "give" because they will "get" more in return.

Do you think the 55 and out was a win for us? It sounds good on the surface, but anytime the city gives you something you have to ask yourself "WHY?". It got rid of a lot of senior officers who were making the most money in patrol and put them into the already dwindling pension system. The hopes being that this further burdens the pensions and strengthens their position of a pension "crisis" so they can move to change it. And in the meantime, they hire new officers at a much lower salary and screwed them out of duty availability (yet another change in the contract) to further save a lot of money. And as far as the insurance for 55 and out? Rahm already bragged about screwing the retirees and make no mistake, he is looking for more ways to do it.

Think the base salary only retro for the year that shields screwed us out of by not sending a simple letter was a win? Again, ask yourself why the city would pay you money that they did not have to? Because they knew that greedy short sighted coppers would flock to get some extra cash and would pass the contract that dean and his crew shilled rather than take it to arbitration where we would most likely not have been forced into the tier system, not have given up the duty availability for new officers, not have lost 25% of the grad school reimbursement (setting us up for future losses in that as well as the bachelors degree program) etc. For about a measly $1k per officer, the city bought complete control of you and your families health care, got you to sell out future officers and set us up for future losses.

The bottom line is that we get paltry raises that are eaten up by rising health care and cost of living expenditures and receive nothing else of substance except being set up for future losses. It is about time that we start expecting more out of our negotiations. I would rather we get nothing but the paltry raises and lose nothing rather than the constant loss of contractual strength.

You have a voice, use it. It is in the form of a piece of paper and a prepaid envelope. It doesn't get much easier than that. If you are unhappy with the way previous contracts under shields and angelo have gone, than pick some new guys. The new direction ticket seems like the strongest contenders. But either way, vote!!

When only a tiny fraction of the officers participate in the "election", I suggest to folks that it is a message sent about overall approval, well disapproval, of the union ITSELF. It gets a little tough to claim representation of the entire group when the vast majority won't even bother to participate when everything but making a few marks, wetting an envelope and dropping it in the mail is done for everyone.

Kinda looks like a "no confidence vote", huh?

What a mockery it is for a "President" of the union has "won" this kind of an election with just half of the votes when not even half actually voted. Leadership claims the mantle of leadership with a great big fat 25% of the eligible voters voting in their favor? Yikes!!!

Gee, maybe people are just fed up with paying those dues for, ummm, well, for what exactly? Uh huh, exactly.

Vote? Vote for whom?I personally don't know any of these characters and when I ask about this guy or that gal all I get is conflicting information and stories about them. It's very difficult to vote based on a flyer.

Incumbent up to some f*ckery. At best it's a run-off between Dean and some other puppet. Would sure have liked to seen Brock Merck get a chance.

3/08/2017 12:13:00 AM
?????

Shields and Brock both are book smart and both lack common sense. Graham may be the biggest liar I have ever met on this job.

And could anyone tell me why Cruz and McGuire even bothered to run?

PS for those who do not know Graham is Donahue's puppet.

Why does the outer return envelope have may name and address on it? I know it's for return purposes but how difficult is it for the ballot to get to the FOP with prepaid postage and their address typed on the front. Seems it would be very easy to see which officers voted for which candidates if somebody wanted to.

3/08/2017 02:34:00 PM

I was on the board in the past. FYI when the ballot are picked up at the post office by the election committee they bring them to the lodge and the accounting firm opens all of the outer envelops an throws them away. Candidates can follow the election committee to and from the post office. The names are there to keep someone from duplicating ballots. The inner envelop is also opened and discarded. The ballots are opened and pressed flat and put into trays. The election committee and the arbitrator are allowed in side the tables where this takes place. The candidates are not allowed anywhere near the ballots. The company that runs the election has done this forever and handles almost all of the large union elections. They run them thru the same type of machines like you vote for president of the U.S. there may be 15 machines going at the same time. There are as many as 20 people from the election firm working to get this done. It's not cheap either. Lets hope it's not a run off regardless as who wins.

There is honestly only one person that I'm going to vote for, that's Martin Preib. The rest of the options suck. He should've run for prez, I think he would've won in a landslide.

Lift residency for officers with 10 years of service. The city will get a bigger and better pool of new applicants. It will attract people living outside of Chicago

&&&

No thanks. I like my neighborhood and house. It's not my fault you grew up in the burbs or out of state and bought some shitty frame house in a part of the neighborhood that wasn't as prime as you thought. You wanted to come into the big city and be the big city police but forgot that you have to live in the city and put up with city things. Us who grew up here and have lived here our whole lives in these neighborhoods find it all normal and relaxing. Don't like it then you should have tried to be a "big shot" with the big city police. Most of us who grew up here already knew it was only a job and took it because we just wanted a city job because that's what we grew up with. Sorry, but residency will never go away and the fop would never be so dumb to bargain for it. They would have to give up the moon and then some.

Vote for the president that negotiated the best price for his American car.
(Thrift/Patriotic)

Vote for the president that is only married once and is still married.
(Loyal to the most important person in the world)

Vote for the president that has the highest credit rating.
(They are managing my money)

Vote for the president that will die for you.
(Will go to the mat against Rahm)

Vote for the president that you have to ask "who's that", I never saw any fancy signs of theirs?
(Humble and down to earth)

Vote for the president that was a veteran.
(Mission essential)

Or, vote for a president that is connected, manipulating, and stuck to the FOP tit taking your hard earned money via dues.

Got it.

Were the retirees worried about retro that you would get anyway? Would retirees fuck new people out of duty pay? Would retirees demand more cars? Guess they don't have the same interests. They look out for your future. Been there, done that.

-------------

Psychologically notice who are the only two candidates referred to by first name.
A PG467 analysis indicates that Dean and Brock have the support of two diametrically opposed membership blocks.

A Plaxio test would present a confidence rating of 97%.

Most FOP members are so apathetic and not involved with their union that they don't even know that they were suppose to receive a ballot in the mail, let alone when the election is. Maybe that's why the retirees out vote the active members in every election.

Many of us do have the same interests as active CPD. Do you have any idea of how many retirees have sons and daughters on the job, some 2 or 3. I personally am retired and set and am more interested in improving my sons working conditions and benefits than my own retirement benefit. And I'm sure I'm not alone in those feelings

Very childish stunt Dean pulled by photographing himself submitting the same letter that Shields failed to submit.

Then highlighting the event in a department wide email.

Honestly, if Shields was not aware of the timeline in which to mail the letter, that is understandable.

What is not understandable and unforgivable is the fact that other elected persons were aware and purposefully withheld that information, harming the entire membership.

They are the ones who are the guilty party.

Shaded circle goes to Shields.

The sad part of your comments are that you can't be that stupid. If, and I say if you are the police you should turn in your badge asap. Now if you want to be a detective someday. Get a copy of the Feb 2012 general meeting minutes from the lodge. If you do this you will have proof that Mike Shields knew about the letter and says so in the minutes, just days before it was due. Or you could believe Mikey's fairy tale and just not be that bright!
