Thank You Blue
Parade season is underway, and here's one coming up that includes a "Thank You" to the police:
- On Sunday, 12Mar2017 at 1200 hrs, the Northwest Side Irish Parade will be held in Norwood Park. One of the "floats" in this parade will be a group of citizens who support the Police and belong to a group called "Thank You Blue". This group [...] is comprised of citizens from various areas of the City and suburbs who respect and support the Police.
One of the ways we show this support and say thank you is to march in local events such as this years Northwest Side Irish Parade. The founder of this group is former Congressman Joe Walsh who will be leading our contingent. This is strictly a way of saying thank you to the Police and is in no way political. We march with signs that simply say Thank You Blue.
In light of all the anti-police venom being spewed by the msm and on social media particularly regarding the CPD, Joe thought it's time we bring our group to Chicago. We have marched in various suburbs for several years now and have had an outstanding reception and hope to see the same here in Chicago. [...] We would like as many people to join us the Sunday and march with us. The more the merrier. Anyone that supports the Police and wants to participate is welcome. Police Officers from any agency be it local,state or federal, family members, regular citizens, the dog, the cat, you get the idea. We would really like to make a statement about our support for the Police and we can do that by having a huge group of people march with us.

He's a reactionary right wing whack job. I wouldn't have anything to do with him. He'd just as soon strip us of our union protections as he would take away our pensions. Be careful who you get in bed with. I don't need his "I like the police" BS.

While not specifically related to this post, I want to thank the CPD officers who came to the aid of my husband and 15-yr-old son who, when going to the Osco pharmacy at Broadway and Montrose on Monday, were the victims of an assault. When approaching the pharmacy counter, my son was bunched in the head by a raving man and my husband saw that 2 of the pharmacy workers, women, were in front of the pharmacy counter after having been brutally assaulted by an attacker who had at some point had jumped behind the counter. The victims kindly took my husband and son with them into the lock room behind the counter where they hid while the assailant continued his rage and the police arrived. The officers, who quickly apprehended the assailant, were then extremely caring and kind towards my son and husband and the other victims. Thank you. We will be in court at the end of April to see this through. Of course, my son would like to know that the assailant will be locked up, but the officers were clear that that type of outcome is inappropriately difficult to achieve in Chicago. THANK YOU.

Yea, they should really thank the FTO who works the 30sector in 016 that parks and sleeps all day. Lets march for him!! No District in the city has the number of people that support the police but the coppers there are salty as fuck. Need some new blood in that place. Worked there for a brief period and jeez they are miserable. I went back to the hood.

12:29 8 MAR - i'm sorry that your husband and son were battered and am pleased that they will appear in court. May i make a suggestion?? Bring several upstanding community members with you so that the judge and the ASA know that this case can't be buried. The ASA will have to show S/A Kimesha Foxx that there was too much interest in the case. Otherwise, Kabrini Kim will seek to divert the offender to a "restorative justice" program while your loved ones get no justice. Please keep us informed as the case progresses.

3/09/2017 01:38:00 AM Thanks for the guidance. We will do our best to bring a group. The officers at the scene noted that they had had interaction with offender in the prior week or weeks when he had harassed others, but no one wanted to press charges. I will keep you informed and thanks again!
