7 Days....Whoops, 6 Days
The Slum Times headline read a week. In fact, this link right here is still titled "one week without a shooting." Then they backtracked it because....Chicago:
- Chicago went for more than six days without a fatal shooting for the first time since at least January 2013.
Most recently, a person was found shot to death on Saturday afternoon in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side.
Officers responded at 12:23 p.m. to a call of a person lying facedown in a vacant lot in the 5400 block of West Ohio, according to Chicago Police.
That isn't to say there wasn't a homicide. Someone found a woman stuffed into a trash can and no one is saying she climbed in it voluntarily. But no one is noting that after a week of particularly warm weather, temps dropped back down to the regular below-freezing levels, putting a damper on the high spirits of the south and west sides.
You know, in real world-class cities, the papers don't have to tout "A Week Without a Fatal Shooting!" like it's actually something to celebrate.

Generally when the police find a deceased body in a garbage can, it's a homicide. Are the dick's classifying that as a suicide like the guy shot in the chest last week in 017.

You know there are places in this country where a murder is front page news. Places where people don't worry about FOID and CCP cards and they still have grandpa's WWII rifle in perfect working condition.
Leaving the keys in the car or the doors unlocked overnight is not a major concern.
Places where it's healthier to show respect for the U.S. flag. Law enforcement is respected and a good career choice.
But these places are becoming fewer and farther apart. People move here for the safe, healthy atmosphere, but then try to change things to "like they were back home."! Crazy. May need to get grandpa's rifle out again.

simple reasoning would conclude that we are going to be down at least 100 murders in 2017. So the body count will be about 666. And those in power will be high-fiving and slapping each other's fannies all over TV and in the communist rags. NEW MANDATED TRAINING AT THE POLICE ACADEMY - BODY CAMERA AND USE OF FIREARM/DEADLY FORCE.
When confronted by a person with a gun you SHALL do the following:
1. Face the person with the gun.
2. Direct your body camera at the person. Stand very still.
3. Try to have your camera capture the person shooting at you.
4. Do not duck or turn away or the camera will not get the best shot.
5. After the suspect fires several shots at you, shout DROP THE GUN! several times as loud as you can. Use every non-lethal tool available before drawing your gun. Start with Pepper Spray, then go to your Taser. Work your way up the Force Ladder, always pausing to allow enough time for the suspect to surrender before taking the next step. If that doesn't work, throw your baton at as a last resort, try to shoot the gun out of his hand. If the suspect doesn’t stop shooting and apologize you may try a well-placed non-fatal shot to the leg. Should your shot accidentally kill the person there is a problem.
6. If you are still alive at this point call your attorney. Call your bank and refinance your home to pay the fees.
7. Keep in mind that you will never be promoted. You will be investigated by the attorney general, the FBI, local district attorney’s office and The Civil Rights
Division of the Federal Government and other tax supported people. The ACLU, NAACP, BLM, the press, Sharpton and the very Reverend Jackson will comment and say you are a very bad person and all police need retraining.
8. Do not expect an invitation to the White House for a beer.
9. If allowed to remain on the job during the minimum two year investigation you will be assigned to a desk or cleaning the restrooms at the station.
10. So, 4 apparent homicides, some of which are experiencing DELAYS in PROCESSING, for the benefit of being able to run a FAKE NEWS REPORT. Oh boy, They are really giving it to President Trump now. Rahm, Eddie, and his news boys must have been giving each other reach arounds after this brain child.

The killings aren't really a problem in Chicago. The problem is the wrong people are being killed. How long would it take to reduce the murder rate in Chicago if the people being killed were attorneys, judges, aldermen, mayors and other assorted politicians?
You can bet your ass it wouldn't take long to "fix" that problem. But since it's just minorities with an occasional taxpayer, well, they can live with that.
