Special Kind of Stupid
- Devon Wade, age 28, fell to his death after making a bad decision to flee from NYPD officers who were trying to serve a warrant.
According to The New York Daily News, the incident occurred on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at about 6:30 AM. There was an outstanding warrant for Wade on a fraud case from October, 2013, and officers also wanted to talk with him about an obstruction of governmental administration case.
New York Police Officers from the Manhattan North Warrant Squad knocked loudly on his apartment door on Tuesday morning. Seconds later, NYPD Officers in the courtyard saw him climbing up the apartment building’s fire escape toward the roof. Before the Officers could even reach the roof, Wade tried to jump 15 feet between his building to another building, missed, and fell six stories. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he died.
You know who's getting all the blame?
- Wade’s girlfriend Janell Reid, age 24, was visibly upset and blamed the NYPD. She said that Wade was scared, and that he told her he didn’t do anything. Wade’s mother also blamed the NYPD and said that they should have done something, that he shouldn’t have died that way.
Wade’s father said that the NYPD came to his house at 5:45 PM looking for his son before going to the apartment where he lived with his girlfriend.
A neighbor accused NYPD Officers of “hassling” Wade for doing low-level drugs. He said that no one wants to go to Rikers and that Wade just wanted to get away.
Not even a glimmer of personal responsibility. Just blame the police and "Why aren't you ignoring 'low level' drug crimes?"

Lets look at this like cops: They went to his listed address with his parents, then went to his girlfriend's house where he was living. I would be a paycheck that the parents told the cops where he would be so he could get this "misunderstanding" cleared up. The cops were probably smart enough to send someone to the GF's address right away, before the parents could call to warn him. Once the cops got eyes on the building, they left the parent's house, who proceeded to call the son. The son received the phone call shortly before the knock on the door, and proceeded to run up the fire escape in an attempt to flee (he knew he done wrong). The perimeter cops called out the chase and probably saw his failed attempt at flying. Now the parents are upset because they gave their son up and he died as a result. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Yet another member of the "Didndu" urban tribe. He was running from a bench warrant according to one article about the story. Multiple arrests as an adult. Failure to appear for a fraud charge, how dare the police enforce the law! Played a stupid game , won a stupid prize. At least there were no cap and gown pictures.
How long is this crap going to continue is my question.. This zero-accountability, no personal responsibility garbage that has been prevalent for years. The "dindu nuffin" and "not my pants" jokes back in the day were just that; jokes. Now it is entirely literal, no one is ever responsible for the dope they possess, the gun they have, used or shot at someone with, the store they robbed, the vehicle they fled with, chased and crashed with, the lives they take, etc. It's *always* someone else's fault now and the finger is always pointed at the evil police officer who forced said moron into his position. He could've and *should've* gave up, but he made his own willful decision to run and perform some ludicrous stunt that got him killed. Now the attorney's will come running, the lawsuit is probably already filed, some ridiculous payout is going to get made and the department is going to look evil and racist again. Then, the guy lands on the ground and takes off running out to State St. and then up towards Division.
Evidently, CPD was knocking on his door.
If I remember right, I think it was the 2nd floor window the guy jumped from, might even have been the third.
I think CPD caught the guy up by Division.

A similar thing happened in the late 70's at 3939 s lake Park, dude locked himself out the apt with food on the stove and tried to climb from the gallery window to his but didn't bring his batman cape. Oops he couldn't bounce when flying down from the 5th floor either.

That is some funny stuff right there. Many have no clue why, but those who do are giggling at the mental picture that one brings about in the mind.
