Moves on a Friday night so the media misses 'em (multiple e-mails):
- Total of 20 something moved in the ASA's office , mostly supervisor demotions and promotions. 2 moves were two newer ASA's to Kim foxx's public integrity unit. It's believed the unit is getting beefed up to review police officers arrests.
- Foxx has started to clean house. Deputy chiefs, supervisors and some ASA's have gotten the Ax yesterday. She is putting in "her people". Big changes. Contact your people it's known through all the court houses
Of course, the media will ignore anything that interferes with the Machine of they were told to.
Also, the Department suddenly returned to the District Station Supervisor (Desk Sergeant) reviewing arrest reports for completeness and the Watch Operations Lieutenant (Watch Commander) approving Probable Cause without any sort of general announcement, review or training.

Everything McCarthy and Weis did to the Department was wrong. They closed Districts, Detective Areas, allowed the Detective rank to dwindle with the patrolman's, they got rid of Watch Commanders and desk Sergeants, they gave us a work schedule that couldn't be accommodated with current equipment, training is not available and the promotional process exploded in scandal after scandal. The moves this week putting back Watch Commanders and desk sergeants is an admission by the Administration that they made huge mistakes over the last ten years. Maybe they can fix some of them.
We all know Mayor Emmanuel pulled the strings on outsiders that didn't know any better. Rahm did this to the Department. Rahm owns what was done to a once mighty police department but Jody, Garry and now Ed wear the shame that goes with being complicit in this travesty. They took the money, the thirty pieces of silver, to be the public face of this gutting. They are as despicable as Rahm.
This has been talked about for a long time, since McCarthy left (going back to WC doing arrest reports). They really want Captains back as WC, but don't want to have to give back pay to Lts who have been doing WC job since that time, because the arbitrator in the last Lts contract said that Lts could file for backpay as out of grade Capts if they ever brought back Capts as WC. City is trying to figure out a way around that.

Your desk crew will show you what you need to do! They just said buy the desk crew lunch the first few days. I couldn't believe this was the DSS training. What a joke!
Looking back at my tenure with CPD, my dad was right when he said take the ISP job, this city sucks! He wasn't even an officer. He jokes and says you'd be an ISP Captain by now instead of a CPD sgt. A former coworker is an ISP Sgt. making 180k per year with a car and living in Will County. I screwed the pooch on this one!

The case will be coming to a head real soon. The recommendations made by the IG's office are back with CPD. It's up to the superintendent to do the right thing. It's really up to those of us who really care about what the chosen ones did, to keep the flame lit on this one. Do not let the sup put this off until he leaves.

I am a retire Lieutenant/Watch Commander who retired three and a half years ago from a west side district on the first watch.
That is WATCH OMMANDER, not District Station Supervisor.
I always answered the phone, "(Blank) District Watch Commander’s Office Lieutenant (Blank)".
Fuck McCarthy, I signed everything as "Watch Commander", not District Station Supervisor.
Even my business card said, “Watch Commander”
What could they do to me, I was on midnights in the ghetto.
I must have kicked back about one of every four or five arrest reports and told the P.O.s to fix them for grammar or probable cause and occasionally they had to help them rewrite a report. It was a teaching moment but I hated it when some goof came in with his hat turned round and said, "It's OK, they'll just throw it out in court."
"Well then I'll save you the trouble and throw it out now."
I never got a "Meritorious" promotion. In all the years I wrote arrest reports and all the years I approved arrest reports I never got sued or indicted. More importantly, none of the P.O.s I worked with were ever sued or indicted over any arrest report I approved.

I got a feeling not for too much longer... I have no doubt the public integrity unit will take a few cases and ship a few to the Feds who will swoop in and take the whole thing over. It may be a few years but it will happen and I think there will be some indictments including murder when they get someone to flip.

We don't need desk sgts with 3 LT s on the watch. We have one Sgt on the street sometimes because one Sgt sits inside with 2 LTs . Lts are already inside they can approve the reports

It's not applicable to everywhere. Some desk crews don't do shit and some times a desk crew will consist of two ppo's and a desk sgt.
So having a class about actual desk operations would have been nice, but that's not the CPD.

Wheezie is incapable of knowing what's proper in an arrest report to approve.
She's never generated an arrest report so how the hell would she know what a proper arrest report should look like? When she got the answers to the Lie-Tenant test we were operating under the DSS so her answers didn't tell her how to be a "watch commander"
Besides Wheezie shows up late, leaves early and is gone for numerous hours in between so when would she even be around to attempt to approve an arrest report?

I am thankful to be retired, and I maintain contact with many people from my "work family". Most of my real family died or moved away.
"sociopath"? Look up that word. I am and continue to be a family member of many people I worked with over the years. I was their mentor, coach, and "Godfather" and glad to be that. I go to their weddings, christenings, funerals and I get calls for advice at all hours of the day and night. So who is the "sociopath"?

With Kim Foxx taking office, Cook County has no State's Attorney anymore and two Public Defenders. Foxx has now gotten rid of nearly all of the real prosecutors. Of the few she kept, they have been beaten into submission out of fear that they will be chopped as well if they don't tow the Foxx anti-police/pro-criminal agenda. The new people in her administration are, indeed, lawyers such as her policy advisor who was previously at Loevy & Loevy (the firm that has made millions by suing the police and, in many cases, falsely accusing good police officers of misconduct in the hopes of scoring big bucks from the City. Foxx's mission, at Preckwinkle's strict direction, is to dismantle the criminal justice system in such a way as to make it much harder to hold criminals accountable and, at the same time, employ extreme scrutiny of the police. In the end, criminals will benefit, police officers will be caused to become even more fetal, crime will pay even more than in already does and, sadly, more poor black people will lose their lives to violence that didn't have to be. Hard working Chicaoans of every stripe, will have no choice but to take their families and their tax dollars somewhere else that is safer and better managed and the tax based erosion will continue full tilt. Truly sad and a major part of the tragic decline of this great American city.

Great post, don't be discouraged by the comment calling you a sociopath, obviously from a disturbed goof who knows nothing.
Many of the young officer of today don't know the meaning of the term "Boss" as applied to our profession. Possibly the meaning has changed over the passing years and I am now out of touch. The term Boss used to be a compliment given to a supervisor who actually cared and mentored his subordinates and attempted to give them the benefit of his or her experience.
I can tell from the post that is what you tried to accomplish during your time on the job. Possibly the poor goof never had a supervisor who cared and had the backs of his troops like you did. His loss but if he actually is a PO he should know better and recognize some one who actually cares.
If he really believes what he wrote I would not care to be anywhere near him let alone work in the same car for a full tour with a goof like that.
Enjoy your retirement, there are still plenty of young officers out on the street who understand and appreciate what you accomplished in your career. Possibly some who learned a thing or two from your mentoring and will pass some of it along and help the next generation.

Going back to the states attorney office, not only have they lost a bunch of prosecutors, they lost a few good support staff members too. yes they actually did exist. oh well not my office.
