- BART police are beefing up patrols at Oakland stations after dozens of juveniles terrorized riders Saturday night when they invaded the Coliseum Station and commandeered a train car, forcing passengers to hand over bags and cell phones and leaving at least two with head injuries.
The incident — the first of its kind in recent memory — occurred around 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses told police that 40 to 60 juveniles flooded the station, jumped the fare gates and rushed to the second-story train platform. Some of the robbers apparently held open the doors of a Dublin-bound train car while others streamed inside, confronting and robbing and in some cases beating riders.
“At least two victims suffered head/facial injuries requiring medical attention,” said a police summary prepared after the incident.
Alicia Trost, a BART spokeswoman, said Monday that seven people were robbed — with the victims losing a purse, a duffel bag and five phones. Six people were robbed inside the train car, with a seventh confronted on the platform, she said. Police received no reports of guns or other weapons being brandished.
BART has an extensive network of cameras, so there ought to be hundreds of pictures of offenders circulating in the media and in the "community" to apprehend these law breakers, right?

Oh....and the cameras? Many of them are fake. Decoys. They don't record anything because they're empty boxes that give the impression of making citizens safer. You know what might stop a brazen mass robbery like this? Armed citizens, but you can't carry a gun on CTA property lest you interfere with these boisterous youths turning their lives around.

They are under NO Obligation to withhold the images from public viewing because the offenders are unknown! Chicago envisions 911 system that could receive texts, photos, videos

A new 911 dispatch system that could receive texts, photos and video of crimes and other emergencies is in Chicago's future, a city official announced Monday.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration expects to go out to bid within the next few weeks for a computer-automated dispatch system to replace one that is now two decades old, said Alicia Tate-Nadeau, the executive director of the Office of Emergency Management and Communications.
“Whenever we do that, that will make us in compliance with next-generation 911, which has to go into effect by the year 2020,” Tate-Nadeau said during a presentation at the City Club of Chicago luncheon.
“You know, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and it is really true whenever we talk about trying to work in a complex environment whenever one is going through an incident,” she added. “And that picture can show us exactly what it is that the first responder is getting ready to going into.”
The new system, part of a nationwide initiative, also will have more “redundancies,” or ways built in for it to keep operating if the main system fails for some reason, Tate-Nadeau said, describing Chicago's 911 system as “one of the largest and most high-volume call centers in the entire United States.”
Tate-Nadeau could not provide a cost estimate for the new system, but added that's something the bidding process would help determine.
The city's 911 system already has the advantage of connections to 29,000 cameras across the city, which she called “the largest federated camera system anywhere in the United States.” New York City has more, but they can't all be accessed from one location, Tate-Nadeau explained after her speech.
The announcement of the new 911 system comes months after Emanuel first began touting plans for a new 311 nonemergency services system that could handle texts, photos and even communicate via Twitter — an idea Tate-Nadeau reiterated during her presentation, saying 311 handles 3 million calls a year.
“We will be receiving our new customer relations management system, or CRM,” Nadeau said. That system will allow residents to track the status of a service request, use phone apps to make a request and send in photos of potholes that need repairs, trees that need to be trimmed and the like.
Emanuel said last year that the new 311 system, which initially was estimated to cost about $30 million, would be in place by 2019. He initially proposed privatizing 311 to help cover the cost, but set aside that plan after aldermen balked and instead came up with a way to pay for it by moving a city maintenance yard and selling the valuable Goose Island property on which it currently sits.
Emanuel appointed Tate-Nadeau, who was assistant adjutant general of the Illinois National Guard and won the Bronze Star for her service in Iraq, about a year ago. Her 2,500-employee office has a budget of about $242 million. In addition to overseeing 911 and 311, she also runs traffic control and school crossing guard operations.

The news reports indicated 40-60 youths stormed the train at the station in what seemed like a coordinated attack. I am sure social media will have a trail. But, what could an armed citizen do against so many? What could one or two cops do against so many? You know that if there was a police officer, and if he was not overrun and knocked down, if he shot any of these youths there would be a BLM shitstorm with no support from the department. Will it happen in Chicago? I suspect that it will.
So where is Granny Clampett? Loading her shotgun with rock salt? No, she's on the phone with Kimesha Foxx asking how she can use "restorative Justice" once the little offenders are caught. And a big FU to Madigan for banning CCW on public transit. The real reason Oakland will not show the tapes is simply the same reason Chicago will not state the offenders race and that is that the offenders are black and very often the victims are white. The liberal agenda forbids it. The country is in a "Black crime wave". 1,000 shootings in Chicago so far in 2017. How many offenders are black? How many are white. How many Hispanic. How many Pacific Islanders?, how many black Hispanic?

Hi C.C. Mom, I think your question is what should I do in that situation ? There is no one answer and please don't let anybody tell you there is. I will toss a little food for thought at you, first do you have some type of CCL insurance ? If you have to shoot or even display in this city/county you have a high risk of needing an Atty. (I'm not an Atty nor do I sell insurance) The friendly Cops on this site won't have anything to say when it comes to charging you or a civil suit, The states atty will be looking to give you a hard time, if you are armed on public trans you are in violation of the law. Besides Having a firearm even more important is something called "situational awareness", always have your head on a swivel to hopefully see trouble coming and get out of there, stay off public trans, don't walk down dark alleys and keep the head phones off and your eyes open.If you can't avoid then decide if a reasonable person would be leave You were in danger of receiving "death or great body harm" when you used deadly force (shot the a**hole)? Would displaying your firearm be enough? Would shooting one or more offenders cause the rest to retreat or would you empty your firearm and then be at the mercy of this mob ? Tough questions with no good answers I know.We could go on for hours. I'm sorry but you were poorly trained at the class you took and you need to seek further proper training. You need to realize that your response must fit the individual situation and these things must be thought about before an incident. I ride the CTA trains regularly. I rarely see a police officer on the trains or in the stations.Go to NY, you see plenty of cops riding the trains or in the stations. Everything is on the cheap in Chicago

FOID carry on the CTA
You can't CARRY a concealed weapon on CTA legally, but you can TRANSPORT an unloaded gun. So if you have a case, such as a fannypack or briefcase, you can unload your firearm, keep the magazine quickly accessible, and transport it on the CTA. It would slow you down getting it into action, but at least you'd have it with you.
Once in the city, go into a bathroom, QUIETLY load the gun in a stall, and put it in your holster. You're good to go.

Speaking from experience,, you wait tell their close and you shoot one of them in the head and splatter the fuckers brains on a few. Guaranteed a bunch will run and panic the others. My carry choice is my custom 1911. That's what I'm comfortable with and it's not a recommendation. The magazine holds 8 round and again this is just me and not a recommendation, the first 4 round are hollow points and the last 4 are ball. My thoughts are if I shoot four shots in almost any incident the changes are person(s) will be behind some cover and the is a better penetrator. Also carry extra mag with all ball. Again this is just me and if the reader(s) have other idea's that's fine with me.
Mom, The Glock 42 is awesome ! You have to rack the slide with vigor to chamber a hollow point. If it stands on the feed ramp,lock the slide back, push the round back into the magazine remove magazine and start over. The Bladetech klipt iwb holster is invisible under a summer t shirt. Mine has Trijicon brite and tough night sights,highly recommended. Tip : Lock the slide to the rear, insert mag then push slide release to chamber hollow point round. It does not hang up w ball range ammo. Ultimate concealed carry gun, more concealable than 5 shot .38, great choice once you master the quirk mentioned above. Very accurate for what it is.

I like the idea of shooting one of the offenders in the head and splattering his/her brains on the others. I'm sure these jagoffs would in fact panic and run.
To N/side Mon, the Glock 42 is a good choice, however, I hope you have strong hands to rack that slide. Carry an extra mag and when comforted by numerous offenders shoot one or two and the others well flee. It's better to shoot it out then to be captured by the enemy.
