Conviction

  • Cook County prosecutors say that Officer David Blake had trusted his girlfriend's brother, showing him his extensive gun collection locked up in a safe inside his South Side condo.

But for weeks, Bernard Williams, then 18, plotted to kill the officer in order to steal and sell the guns, prosecutors alleged.

On Nov. 22, 2010, Williams lured the off-duty officer to drive him to a secluded spot on the Southwest Side known as "Dead Man's Alley," where Williams shot Blake six times in the head at close range inside the officer's Dodge Durango, prosecutors said.

Six and a half years later, a jury deliberated less than 3 1/2 hours on Tuesday before convicting Williams, now 25, of first-degree murder and armed robbery.
Six years is a long time to wait for resolution. We certainly wish there was still a death penalty around for scumbags like this. Good work by all involved bring the killer to justice.

And what was just as dreadful was the
Officer's g/f tried to walk-back her
testimony regarding incriminating statements
the offender made to her.

She also called herself pleading the fifth...

Did she reveal all she knows?

You Coppers watch your asses...
Sometimes the worst trap is

How is it that in Cook we wait YEARS for cases to be concluded yet in DuPage it seems to be over in months ? What a shit system of corrupt lawyers AND judges that allow this.

So the girlfriend rolled for her brother? This is a 2010 homicide and seven fucking years later it closes? What a load of bull shit. The Tillmon clown who was arrested by ISP for shooting the trucker on i-88 last week is locked up in Du Page County jail by ISP.

Now Kimm, you watch how this is handled by the Du Page County S/A office. First either a very high bond or no bond. I will bet you this case is in front of a Du Page County jury within 6 months and things do not look good for Mr. Tillmon. He will likely be in the IDOC long term residency program in less than ten months.

Seven years for the family of Dave Blake to receive closure. What indeed a screwed up Cook County system. It is true, the one thing that most often is not present in a Cook County court is....the truth.

RIH Dave!

OT but a good story for police. (ABC7 story April 17)
SHOOTING OF OFF-DUTY CHICAGO FIREFIGHTER BY POLICE HEADS TO COURT. A Federal Jury cleared
all officers of excessive force in this "suicide by cop" attempted by this sick person. The jury saw right through the
lies told the individual, his wife and his attorneys who were seeking $2.4 million in damages . No Money was awarded! The liberal media won't like this story.

R.I.P. Officer.

Its a shame this p.o.s. will probably be paroled and out on the street in less than 10 years.
That is not justice. Specially after killing an officer dedicated to justice.

The criminals know that if they rob a tourist and even if they are caught, they will get away with it because the victim is not going to show up in court. If the victim does not show up in court then the charges get downgraded or tossed entirely.

Weak sentencing makes guns and murder nonchalant crimes these days.
What's the sentencing since 6 years already served ?
This trial will not send any message or become a deterrent to the rest of the lawless feral young men.
Democrats say you have to get used to it and accept it.
No jobs, just more failed programs in the Chicago.
So what's a kid to do but smoke dope and hangout unchallenged all night, then plan how to rob or kill someone to sell something.
Things all acceptable and tolerable under the Democrats.

I was standing outside the medical examiners office when the officer's body and vehicle arrived there. I never saw so much sadness and respect for the job which took place during the prayer service. Wish the officer never died but was proud of my fellow officers for the respect shown to the fallen officer.

Citizen reader: I watched ISP Capt. Meeder on the news talking about the I-88 shooter Tillmon charged with shooting trucker Munoz three times along the Oak Brook stretch. Road rage for three miles, a number of witnesses coming forward (snitching is social policy in Du Page) I Pass documents put him there, video support and on and on.

Tillmon gets a $3 million dollar bond and when Bob Berlin's office gets that to court which will be in a few months, the jury is going to be very happy to convict the defendant in short order. I go four hours deliberation at the most.

Tillmon would be smart to plead it out. You will see a big difference between how Officer Blake's case was handled compared to how Du Page deals with Tillmon. Blake's family suffered for years. The Munoz family will be spared that kind of budget justice that is routine in Cook. Be safe coppers and thanks to ISP.

My late aunt lived a 1/2 block from "Dead-Man's Alley". Was a quiet blue-collar pocket of cops and firemen. Then it changed so she moved to Oak Lawn.

Bring back Tamms and the Illinois execution chamber. Enough about the three drug IV method. Euthanasia is reserved for dying beloved pets in pain. As one California federal judge recommends, bring back the firing squad with a condemned option for the guillotine.

My preference: "Ol' Sparky" with murdered victim's family member granted right of first refusal as executioner.

You know why it takes so long in Crook County Illinois. Most judges don't put in a full day work. Go into the COURT houses in the Summer, and more than 3/4 of the COURT rooms are closed.

Cook county has no shameits SOP for Politicians to steal, and violate the law. Our Aldermen thinks it is thier right to demand payoffs and our judges just don't get it. Go out to Dupage, will, kane, etc and see how fast you go to jail.
