Time to Step Up FOP
- A day after the election of a harder-line Chicago Fraternal Order of Police president, an array of black elected officials Thursday called for Mayor Rahm Emanuel to demand police contract changes they say would make it easier to report misconduct by cops without fear of reprisal.
City Council Black Caucus Chairman Ald. Roderick Sawyer, 6th, said the 18-member group he leads will vote against a new police contract if those changes aren't included. He also said he has enough support from aldermen outside the caucus to kill a proposed deal.
"The FOP contract has been preserving and protecting a culture of racism and violence in our Police Department for far too long," Sawyer said while standing with African-American federal, state, county and city officials. "Now is our chance to change that once and for all, and I would challenge the FOP to contact us and meet with us to discuss what's beneficial for the entirety of the city of Chicago, not just the rank-and-file members of the Police Department."
Point of order - the FOP represents the rank-and-file members of the Department, not the city. Representing the city is the aldercreatures job, and a piss-poor job they've been doing for five or six decades now, with about half their number jailed for various offenses, more enriching themselves at the expense of taxpayers, selling their votes to the highest bidder and the mayor.
Could Rod point out to us single instance of how it's supposedly "difficult" to file a complaint? IPRA takes everything that knocks on the door - even things that are specifically banned from being registered as complaints. IPRA takes it all, throws it at the wall, and sees what might stick.
Could Rod also point out a single instance of "reprisal"? We can't recall a single one...except those gotten by police on supervisors for hostile work environments. Those are notoriously common, but never seem to be sustained anywhere because the connected don't live by the same rules as the common folk.
Time for the FOP to demand the City follow the Federal rules regarding investigations for starters.

FOP blinks and then sells out membership, followed by the sgts, lts, and capts.
If all four unions had ANY balls they would ban together and not give in to what would ultimately be the domino effect of collective bargaining, contractual Rights, and Civil Rights for cops of all ranks.
And when the Feds finally move to flick
this gum-bumpin' gump off the Chicago
political gameboard, the first thing
he's going to holler about is "My
RIGHT to due process."
If the "Black Caucus" succeed in
their push to shit in the very
notion of due process and the
right to confront your accuser?
You think Policemen are in a defensive
crouch now?
kevin was on WGN and sounded like a rock head. Listen, we have to wear body cameras. They aren't going anywhere ever. Saying you are against them makes you and us look like we have something to hide out there. If you think logically from a citizens point of view there is NO good reason to not want body cameras.. none. So saying we are against them makes us look stupid with something to hide. Its not 20 years ago or even 2 years ago.. Things are much different. Body cams are here and its the law now. We must have them in the state, every department. PICK YOUR BATTLES Kevin. It cant just always be No No No we wont change anything ever.
Maybe the 1st order of business should be to file a complaint with the Chicago Commision on Human Relations for the mere racial overtones that the "BLACK CAUCUS" represents how many white or Hispanic aldermen are allowed to join.
2nd file a unfair labor practice agaisnt the aldermen this contract isn't ended yet and they are attempting to influence or intimidate this Union.
Let's get to work now Kevin people went to bat for you so don't just stand there taking balls and strikes.
Hey Black Cockcus Chairman Roderick Sawyer, i'm all for not stopping any of your "peoples" and allowing them to kill as many of each other as possible.
Ur damn right Alderscum sawyer mayb we shud demand the same protections that the Feds and most of the other police departments in the US enjoy and that is 48 hours, we went to arbitration and settled for 24, we shud have went a lot farther.
You aldermen are IDIOTS
New guy off to a great start. Calls a press conference and stands there and doesn't say anything.
City council black caucus rod sawyer said: the fop contract has been preserving and protecting a culture of racism and violence in our police department for far too long.
So rod sense you are in charge of the black caucus when did you discover racism in the police department and what have you done about it?
Top priorities for the contract should be :
PENSION: we all want to retire someday and we all want that pension waiting for us when we make it!
Healthcare: police are usually in bad health and a disease can hit you at any age, like cancer! You also want to live long enough to enjoy your pension so we need good healthcare to take preventative measures.
Protection: we need to to have a good team of attorney's who's sole purpose is to protect us and fight for us. We cannot loose any of the protections we have now in fact if this city wants to be legit then let's go the way the Feds do when it comes to shooting incidents!
Salary: let's get that salary up and able to keep up with inflation!
Finally RESIDENCY, lets sue the city and take it up to the Supreme Court if we have too! The city can't use the argument that residency keeps crime down. Bull shit! NYC and LA are much larger cities yet we had more murders than both of them combined! Neither of those departments require residency! Milwaukee made it happen and so have other departments. If we stick together we can make it happen!
What are aldermen on the white caucus of the city council saying?
Find out if Sawyer voted yes on the van Dyke money award
Don't forget the crooked alder-creatures threw a hissy fit when talk of a oversight committee to look over them was in play. Hypocrites.
Fuck u alder scum mother fucker, KG Do Not meet with those shady corrupt pandering fuckers, I hope they don't approve the next contract at 1st, because the longer it goes the bigger my retro, we all know A contract will be ratified. It's a matter of when. City hall wants to gut the next contract, so go high KG, 25% raise over 4 yrs, more P days, more bfd days, more duty$, more uniform $, 72 hrs to make statement after OIS, no anonymous cr#, they expect us to give something up, but to give u gotta get, soooooooooo
Screw the Black Caucus.
The FOP should demand the same contractual protections of most other large municipal police departments and even mirror the Fed's contractual protections.
Isn't it ironic that the same assholes( alderthieves) that don't want the IG to have investigatory authority over them want most or all of our contractual protections taken away?
Do these clowns realize how contract negotiations go? It's traditionally a give and take proposition ... although under jagoff Rahm he ignores the give part and solely focuses on the take, take, take part.
What will the city be prepared to "give" if they plan on doing all this "taking"?
The FOP needs a tried and true professional negotiating team to offset the city's ridiculousness and a professional PR team to keep hammering home our perspective.
I don't know SCC.
If we didn't have the Police, our fine city would have a manageable 711 wounded & 163 killed this year instead of the out of control 714 wounded & 167 killed that is making us a laughingstock.
Sounds like Arbitration already!
Fuck these Asshole Crooked Alderman!
Anyone care about the disgraceful conduct of Chicago's elected? Chicago has the most corrupt city government in the free world.
Fuck u alder scum mother fucker, KG Do Not meet with those shady corrupt pandering fuckers, I hope they don't approve the next contract at 1st, because the longer it goes the bigger my retro,
*********************
Coppers are so funny with the "huge retro" comments. We don't get a dime in interest. Im the meantime that retro money could have been used to pay down your bills. Having a large retro check is never a good rhing.
Oh, alderman of the black caucus, how you put our people back another 100 years.
Black caucus wants anonymous non affidavit complaints so they can blatantly lie like Bobby Rush when they get butt hurt for being stopped. I want, no I demand as a citizen to see where the harm comes from the affidavit? Show us one case, ONE CASE where someone got punished because of the affidavit. Show us the numbers of people charged for making a complaint against the police?
I want these aldermen tested for drugs
Fuck these jagoffs. The alderman are acting like uneducated thugs. They want their criminal constituents to have rights but not police? Go to hell.
Dear array of black elected officials,
How about starting with the mirror first?? How many shootings and killings per day/month in the so called neighborhoods that Po Leece treat so racist??? How about start with the real problem first??
Meet the new President same as the old.
Why should police have less rights than criminals?
Does this "Black Caucus" ever think about anything other than making life easier for criminals? Does this "Black Caucus" ever think about trying to slow the flood of working, taxpayers (the ones that pay their too large salaries) that are leaving the city? Does this "Black Caucus" think Oprah and Obama are going to take care of them when the money's gone, because Trump sure as hell won't! Taxpayers are leaving and the city's credit rating is taking a dump.
It appears that this "Black Caucus" is something that no city (or nation for that matter) should have to put up with!
J.J.
Instead of the alderman saying they screwed up making Ed Johnson superintendent for not being able to stop or even reduce the amount of violence this is the fight they want to pick....One more thing,Johnson has been superintendent for a year, has anyone noticed anything??
Donahue,Dourgethy and Aguilar time to try it again. Maybe you can get it right this time. Oh thats right graham is your guy, maybe now youll think of the members. Morons.
I don't if any watched the Mayor the other day on Facebook live talking about infrastructure? He said the Feds need to raise the national gas tax and tie it to CPI. I will paraphrase his statement. It takes the politics out of the equation. let's use his exact words and strategy and forego any retro pay in this next contract but pin our raise to CPI. It takes politics out of the equation? Right? So what would the % be on an annual basis that would make sense? Might not be a great idea for us but we should have someone at the FOP look into if it is a possibility. At the very least it will drive the Mayor nuts to use his own words against him.
If you think logically from a citizens point of view there is NO good reason to not want body cameras.. none. So saying we are against them makes us look stupid with something to hide.
If this was Mayberry that would make sense. But the only way it would be fair is to show the whole video every time to the public. But that would never happen. Can t show the public what animals most are when u go on a call. What we have to put up with. IT WOULD VIOLATE THEIR RIGHTS TO BE SHOWN WHAT THEY REALLY ARE. And with RAhm pandering to these dogs the only time it will be shown would be if police look bad. Glad to be getting out of this train wreck soon.
"How can we get the Cops out of their
defensive crouch and start interacting
more with the community?"
...Is what every media and political
swing-dick/hang-tit is wondering.
Right?
Well...
"How can we get the Community to get
it's collective act together and take
a seat at the table of common purpose
and mutual interest with the rest of
law abiding society that they have so
much disdain for?"
>Crickets<
>More Crickets<
You first, Roderick...
Let's hear your well thought out answers
to both of those equally "loaded" questions.
>Stares stupidly like the human equivalent
of a m/fing sock-eyed salmon...<
Chicago Alder-critters are a mean, obtuse,
piggish, oafish, deliberately blind, willfully
tone-deaf and ignorant sort.
The only hope for this city is for
the Feds to fall on these fools
like an old big-assed pecan tree
smashing a shit-shack.
>Creeaak! KER-RACK!<
"AAIIEE!"
(Tries to wipe, pull up pants and run
but failing miserably at all three)
>BOOOOMM!<
Mistuh Sessions would very likely
have a good knee-slapping laugh
at the notion.
I'm assuming I'll Be able to retire under the 2% in 2019 because this contract is going to be a long hard fought battle
You guys think that Dean didn't do a good job, well just wait until you see what you get with Kevin Graham, you made a bug mistake this guy is useless and will cause nothing but issues.
Typical liberals. They want to impose their will on all!

Well...
What's wrong with FOP having a few Private Investigators
to run agit-prop and cointel against certain media members
and members of elected officialdom to advance our cause?
Why can't The Police fight just as dirty as City Hall
and the editorial boards?
It would be good for some of these dirty cocksuckers
to be on the business end of a manila envelope
full of THEIR "on Duty" and personal fucking-arounds.
Get mean.
Fight dirty.
Ok so....do they want the police out of their neighborhoods? Are they happy with the 800 murders? Do they prefer 1000? What do they want.
They want change eh? So lets give it to them. I am not for losing any protection that we already have. That being said, i would have to agree that being able to change a statement after reviewing video evidence does sound a little shady. Why would we need to amend a statement if we are telling the truth to begin with? (** this is the thought process of the public who doesn't know or care how a stressful incident plays havoc with your perception and your ability to accurately recount the incident exactly as it happened**).
So lets give up the ability to change a statement after viewing video or other evidence.
But here is the catch. If you do not want me to change a statement after viewing evidence, than do not require me to make one until after 72 hours and after I have had a chance to view evidence that could potentially be used against me in a criminal trial in the presence of my lawyer. After that, I will give you a statement that you can lock in.
Criminals do have the right to not say anything and still get to see all the evidence against them before trial. And since they are looking at any way to charge us including making each round fired at a knife wielding lunatic a separate count of agg batt we need more protection than what we already have. They like to throw around that the police are not above the law. Well how about we be held to it just like everyone else is. Along with the same rights against self incrimination if some desk asshole who never worked a day in their life as a po suddenly decides that a couple of your rounds were ok, but the last one was murder. When are the sa's going to change the charge for the thug that beat the female cop (who was afraid of the backlash if she shot him). When are they going to charge him for each punch, each kick??

Relax, Graham will address the caucus concerns at the meet and greet this Sunday when he speaks at St Sabina
Rodney is too stupid to know the facts.
Screw you alderscum! It's your constituents doing all the killing and violating peoples rights. Don't vote on a new contract, who cares. I'll work under this current contract until the day I retire. This contract is far better then any new contract that 9.5 is going to try and stick us with, that is for sure. So do the rank and file a solid and refuse to ratify a new contract. You will, for once, actually be helping the rank and file CPD. Dumb asses!
Ya mean THIS IPRA?
http://chicago.suntimes.com/politics/ipra-accused-of-leaking-document-in-glenn-evans-case/
A former investigator for the soon-to-be-abolished Independent Police Review Authority was accused Wednesday of leaking a confidential IPRA memo about the agency’s investigation of a high-ranking Chicago Police official, who sources identified as Glenn Evans.
Love how the liberal media laps it up. Get ready to watch the McDonald and Abbate videos over and over again on the nightly news. No clue that their treatment of us drives crime up. Idiots.
Special attention near aldermanic offices for all vehicle license , equipment and parking violations .
Show them we care .
Rahm will screw the cops and listen to the black caucus in exchange for the criminals vote on the west and south sides.
Let's ask the black caucus what they have done to protect the black people of the city of Chicago. They were the majority of the victims of homicides and shootings for many decades now, so what steps has the caucus taken, protests, marches, press conferences, spending their slush funds on programs to break the cycle of violence and dependency? That's the question to ask them, what have you done.

Amen brother. Be smart FOP. We must embrace the change. How many beefs have coppers already been saved from due to body cams? We don't make the rules, never have. A smart player of any game will use the rules to their advantage!
The new guy meets with the media at FOP Hall and spends 59 seconds at the lectern in front of the cameras and then bolts from the room! WTF? Mike Shields would have never squandered such an opportunity.
Better to be thought of as a fool...then to open your mouth and confirm it. Mayor, aldermen, county pres, states attorney are responsible for the mess here..
These clowns should be in a circus the entertainment value would be endless they are obviously not qualified to be an elected official have no idea what to do as their communities are full of blood shed and yet as usual they are blaming the police so easy to do so easy to hate alderman you Really need a reality check the reality check should be when the Attorney General Jeff sessions senses people in here to look at everything including all your finances and all your business dealings then the remedy would be for removal of the criminals at City Hall that is the real criminals stock criminalizing the police!
GET DEAN off the FOP site with his senior brigade of cash grabbers!
GRAY-HAM spend a few dollars on some suit dude.
Can someone ask why the Tribune make such great efforts to tarnish over and over the police. Cops deserve due process and a fair trial as well but seems to me during negotiations time a few phone calls have been made!!!
Evan as a not PO, I know that Rod is full of crap. I'll talk to my alderman, but not sure what else I can do to help out.
Pensions are non-negotiable!
Not from Chicago. Very interesting stat:
About 1/2 aldermen arrested on various
Charges. The whole city is like a massive
Reality show. But you'll have to take a backseat
To D.C. Latest: two SS agents fired for not detecting
Fence jumpers for 15 minutes, but Media states that was
Because both were under the 2-yr probation period.
IPRA takes anything that knocks on the door.
Literally. Including: Ringo: "I've got blisters on
my fingers."
Nothing will change its the same old shit yr after yr with the fop. You will get fucked on ur next contract and NO they will not lift the residency requirements no matter how much you whine about it. Retired-thank god

Body cameras are not here to stay. The former XO of 014 who became the Commander of 014 volunteered 014 to test them. FYI, he became the justice dept laison for CPD.
Inside baseball, many dope addicts may be alive if police didn't have to do a crazy ISR and wear a body camera in the process of a simple street stop.
It's a societal question. How many people do we want dead through gang violence, drug overdose, and other criminal behavior in a body camera/ISR city?
VS.
How many gray area police involved deaths would we tolerate in a no ISR/no body camera city?
I vote for a no body camera/no ISR city where thugs don't roam and rule the streets.
Still waiting on the Demands of the White Caucus
You guys still dont get it ....after everything that has been done to you guys you still follow the rules or "state law" regarding residency. The city allows and protects illegal citizens and breaks FEDERAL LAW everyday, but you guys cant live anywhere else ... if it wasnt so sad it would be funny . The ones on this blog that say you cant fight it its state law, are the selfish ones who are afraid about their property values. Has the city kept its end of the deal with paying into the pention? ...I thought that was state law ...oh thats right they pick and choose which STATE LAW to follow. So you either keep going along with the residency like good little sheep or fight it and win like every other city . Either way the city with still screw you on your pensions

Damn, you sound like all the pro-Hillary sore losers. Must be a Dean-team whiner.
Maybe we need to take a closer look at the problems in Chicago, Cook County, and the State. It's not just the black caucus, its the DEMOCRATS who give it all to the blacks, whatever they want while the middle class votes these asswipes in time after time and they think the pittance they receive in return justifies it. WAKE UP PEOPLE IT'S TIME TO RAKE THE BOARD AND START OVER!!!! You are the prisoners of this democratic socialist movement, black caucus, sanctuary city, shootings and killings everywhere you look, taxes raised faster than you can blink an eye, legalized gambling, crap schools crap city, county and state!
Mayor Rahm and all elected officials should show us the way of transparency, All Emails, business meetings, and conversations concerning city business should be recorded both audio and body cameras. These should be mandatory even in after hours
Graham Cracker did a nice job on the Media with his 1-minute presser.
Touché.
But unfortunately this action only works for The President of the United States.
Besides that, we all known whatever Graham Cracker would have said, for better or worse, any pro-Police statement or bashing Rahm and the 48 AlderTheives is subject to editing and likely not suited for inclusion in any of their outlets.
Now that Crackers stiffed the Media, will they ever show up at his behest again?
Not likely.
Should we have another FOP spokesperson plan available (Not Googlemyheinie) to promote our message, say at high profile incidents?
The Police or FOP did not create rising violent crime and murders ...Democrats did and the media ignores it.
CTU Lewis hasn't been as vocal as she was before, lately CPS seems content with whatever Rahm is offering under the table and behind closed doors...they will not Strike on May 1st. Wonder why, it's not for the Kids.
Step up FOP Graham Crackers and speak up now, screw Rotten Rahm because nothing favorable or to the liking of the Department is coming. He does not play nice. He does not play fair and you know this already. Speak out at every opportunity.
Never forget he's the crocodile teared, give to the freeloader, master of the take-a-way demon who boasted on stiffing city retirees, "thank you very much, a $175 million saving".
For the of us - Stay Fetal.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel has changed the entire frame/public opinion of HIS MISCONDUCT and reshaped public opinion so that; we are the problem.
No Mr. Mayor that is not the case at all. You are the problem. You were the one who tried to pay "hush money" to the parents of Laquan Mc Donald. Plus the city council approved the pay out. Then when a journalist. A real journalist asked to the see the video, you fought tooth and nail to not release it until a judge ordered you to do so.
You are the snake and liar Mr. Mayor. You alone caused these problems.
I think as police officers we need to push back against this arrogant asshole of a Mayor. He and along with the media is flipping the switch and saying we are the problem. We should protest at his house and protest in every public venue he goes to so we can tell the public that Mayor Emanuel is the one who tried to hide the video tape of the Laquan Mc Donald shooting. If we as police officers do that then I am confident that he will lose the election.
Also, if we keep reminding the black community that Mayor Emanuel is a snake and he hid the Laquan McDonald shooting then he is toast. I am dead serious about this brothers and sisters.

What are aldermen on the white caucus of the city council saying?
4/14/2017 01:21:00 AM
The white alderman are too fucking afraid to speak their minds.
First of all, anyone who wants to change the residency requirement is out of their mind--if you get to move to the suburbs, who do you think will want to buy your house and live in the city? Property values will SINK if the residency requirement is lifted.
Second, body cameras are good for the police. If you have one, you understand it. If you don't have them yet, keep an open mind. It will take getting used to them, but they are awesome. If you have something to hide or take shortcuts, I can see why you don't want them. Otherwise, the cameras are great for court purposes, great for getting rid of complaints, great for letting outsiders see what we see. After you get them, it will take a while to remember to just turn the dang thing on, then sometimes you will forget to turn them off. You have to watch the snide remarks, but you will learn to remember to keep your comments to yourself, which is sometimes better anyways. 99 percent of citizens like it when you tell them you are wearing a camera. When the racist, insulting, loudmouth citizens are reminded politely to speak a little louder because your camera may not have picked up what they said, 98 percent walk away. You and your partner should remind each other about the cameras being on and off. After you work out the kinks, the cameras are really a great tool.
Once you start thinking that the camera is there for your benefit and not the criminals', and how to use the cameras to YOUR benefit, you will really appreciate them.
From a worker who doesn't work like he used to, but still gets satisfaction in locking up the really bad people and folks.
In many my years on the job I remember several aldermen and alderwomen being arrested, convicted and jailed. I don't recall any of these high ranking government officials being required to make official statements about their conduct prior to several consultations with their lawyers and advisors, some of these consultations taking months if not years. Oh....excuse me. Those folks had civil rights didn't they?
The totalitarian government of the Democratic People's Republic of Chicago (the DPRC) is incorrigibly and shamelessly corrupt. Most of the so-called electorate are either beneficiaries of said patronage corruption or brain dead.
Please STFU about residency. It was a term of employment when you were hired. There are important things to worry about and residency isn't in top ten. Where are you going to move? Property taxes are much higher in the decent surrounding burbs. There is no greener grass, everywhere you live has compromises. I'm not for residency, just tired of hearing about it.
Contract negotiations are approaching between Emanuel and the Federation of Police.
This is from Prieb's latest posting. Does he not know he is and officer in the Fraternal Order of Police?
To the residency comments (I'm all for it),but if you look at all the comments on the newspaper stories about it the general public is way against it. And why wouldn't they be? As much as the typical hipster millennial hates the oppressive police, they want them in their neighborhoods to keep the savages at bay. I think it will be an uphill battle against the public and the city. But the law is the law and I think only the fop has the resources to sue and win opposed to some random copper.
Body cams were the instrument to capture all police misconduct. Amazing how the 3rd largest police dept. in the country didn't have any tasers until a crisis occurred with the citizens. ( never waste a good crisis ). Then sgt's were allowed to carry a taser and when u needed one , u had to call a sgt. , then more crisis occurred resulting in death to citizens and low and behold after the multi million dollar shakedown and taxpayer theft, the third largest police dept finally bought tasers for all officers from a hooked up connected firm, taser int'l. The CPD was always cheap with training and equipment, they still are substandard with respect to these aspects , even the justice dept. agrees with their recent mandate. Nothing will change until the swamp is drained.
the FOP represents the rank-and-file members of the Department, not the city.
BWaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
Ok, umm, haa ha ha hee ehehehee hahah ha OK gee my belly hurts.
I hear ya, I really do, but cmon, how can ya say that out loud and not just start giggling? Yes it is SUPPOSED to represent the rank and file officer, but the truth is that the democrats took over the unions a very long time ago and they have had them represent the areas they control ever since.
Time for honesty if anything that is so broken is to be actually fixed. Yes the FOP and others has to step up, but I caution folks who aim to hold their breaths waiting.
Well maybe its time to put on a play for the black caucus showing them the entire process of filing a complaint with CPD. It is streamlined and efficient. Some of them must have to go through a touch and see lesson before getting it. Next city council meeting perhaps Rham?
Love how the liberal media laps it up. Get ready to watch the McDonald and Abbate videos over and over again on the nightly news. No clue that their treatment of us drives crime up. Idiots.
4/14/2017 08:32:00 AM
Abbate's victim was a white woman. That doesn't fit the new false narrative of racist police. It's all about laquan and Michael brown and the other criminals who the police had to remove from society. A white man beating a white woman is irrelevant.
Hey FOP
I have been retired 5 months
I received the first ballot for elections.
And I just looked in my mail box and found the runoff ballot delivered today.
It is April 14, 2017
Who in FOP arranged for this kind of election to take place.

You are smoking the crack.
Black caucus=def comedy jam?🤔 Listening to these nitwits is like a night at zanies.
OT. How is the Aetna health insurance plan working out for the retirees. Just got my wife's monthly statement and so far this year there has been no out of pocket charges for labs, tests or dr visits. Just wandering if anybody else has been as fortunate. Not even deductibles from either tier 1 or tier 2 claims
I'm fine with body cameras but we need to demand that aldercreatures and the mayor and his staff wear them as well. If body cams are for ALL police officers why doesn't the mayors detail have them? I mean the aldermen and mayor are paid by the taxpayers too right???
Random drug testing for aldermen and the mayor.
Stop talking about changing residency and just get it done like every other major city. But this is Chicago and Chicago coppers are lazy.
Guys against residency via law suit stfu already . You can stay. Enjoy it. " it was part of your employment " no shit asshat so was many things that changed and or improved or got worse. Get out of the way of progress
Sawyer says he wants to sit down and discuss the coming FOP contract but then says he and his fellow Black alderman won't budge from their position. Is that negotiating? Why bother with these arseholes. Their constituents are being gunned down on the streets of their wards every day and they keep keep kicking and spitting on the police. Citizens of this city are afraid to walk the streets for fear of being robbed, raped, kidnapped, and murdered. Chicago is getting the police department it deserves.

4/14/2017 01:45:00 PM
Then you STFU and don't worry about it! You and anyone else that wants to stay here can stay. Goof.
Sawyer have nerve to worry about the police while the gangbangers are running rampant in his ward. Why can't you Aldermen do a better job at monitoring your ward, paving alleys, putting brighter light in the alleys and on residential blocks. Sawyer is never available to his constituents. He's always sitting in some "prayer breakfast" or planning $500 a plate fundraisers for himself. He's hated the police ever since Wooten ran against him. He's turned a deaf ear to the Chatham community and has focused his attention on Englewood because his cousin is the head of the Greater Englewood R.A.G.E Organization. He makes sure his cousin gets all of the grants. That's why the Englewood portion of his ward has the Whole Foods, etc. He hasn't done sh-t in Chatham, still punishing them for the opponent who ran against him. Sawyer didn't do so well in Chatham and the only reason he did well in the Englewood portion of his ward is because of his cousin, who is also an influential leader of the Black Lives Matters organization. The Aldermen want a voice in the police contact, yet they fight tooth and nail to keep the citizen from having a voice at the City Council Meetings. Sawyer state your real issue. I've been knowing Sawyer since he was a kid and nothing has changed.
Hey Rod take care of your own corruption, let the IG investigate the shenanigans that constantly go on with your 50 aldercrappers. 50-"FIFTY" to divi up the city when there are only 102 Senators in the entire United States, and a mid 400 number of Congressman.
City Of Chicago is desperate for republican leadership. What does Chicago have lose?

I'm not sure if residency can be changed. Yes, it was a term of employment, but so was being the police. Now, we can't be the police.
I'll tell you one thing , though; if you move to Indiana, you'll not only save money on taxes, you'll be in a state that is fiscally responsible, you'll get a larger, better property that won't lose value, your kids will go to better schools and the savages that get locked up stay locked up. You can certainly not say that about Illinois, and particularly ShitCago.
Nitwits like you need not tell others that better things are not possible. The grass IS greener on the other side, so why don't YOU shut the fuck up. IDIOT.
That contract is signed by the Mayor of Chicago after negotiation and approved by the knuckleheads in the City Council. The contract is a labor agreement; derived through negotiation or arbitration.
Let the City Council hire a lawyer and have it explained to them.
Relax, Graham will address the caucus concerns at the meet and greet this Sunday when he speaks at St Sabina
4/14/2017 08:03:00 AM
Good one! I laughed out loud.
Do you think he will seek Garry's advice before going there?
Residency was put into law to create the Patronage Army to get a City job you went thru the Alderman or Precinct Captain If they got you a job you paid them back with your Vote.If you live in Niles you can't Vote for that Alder thieves.
Can the FOP sue Rod for defamation?

I'm in Florida full time and the Aetna plan actually works as good if not better than the plan we had with the City. First week in January I was admitted in the hospital for my heart. Stayed a week and not a bill or out of pocket cost. I ordered my prescriptions paid my $100 deductible for drugs only and my mail order was cheaper than what I paid under city plan by a few dollars. Not a lot of money but none the less lower. My biggest concern was seeing my Dr that is not in network but accepts Medicare. Had a follow up out of the hospital and 3 times since and not a single copay or out of pocket. Not even my a and b deductible that I used to pay under Medicare and city plan. Glad to hear it is going well back home. There are a lot of police and fire retirees around me here and the majority I talk to are happy. The ones that aren't too happy went on the city bcbs plan they offered. They say the bcbs plan they have now is not the plan we had before and it's more expensive than aetna and has a way different prescription plan.

Fucking A-men
Even tho the press and the Black caucus harp about clauses in they contract that impede discipline but can't cite any specific elements.
The reason tho low sustained discipline is not the contract.
1:By taking every complaints the IPRA wastes tremendous resources on dead ends.
2:Misconduct is not as rampant as the would like public to believe.
3: Officers have due process rights. And they use them
The issue is that Rahm is sinking. And he knows it. He is known as the Murder mayor. Streets are out of control. He hates the police and the feeling is mutual. He made them the whipping boys and the media plays along. He is trying to whip the public into a frenzy thinking that if certain unspecified contract clauses are removed all his social problems will disappear.
He needs to get the police and courts working again but doesn't know how to admit he was wrong.
The media has its orders from Rahm: attack the contract relentlessly.
Trump will soon put all these asswipe democrats in JAIL.
Maybe we should make it easier to file complaints against Aldermen and judges..and anonimously.. With repercussions...
This is precisely the reason you'll get a shit contract. Motherfucking some Alderman isn't going to get you anywhere.
Leave the rhetoric to those that speak for the Rank & File, your elected Collective Bargaining Members.
All it does is hurt your cause, and make you look like bigger Neanderthal Fools.
I'm not a part of the newly elected crew, so you can save the asinine comments.
Is it true the Abbate bartender married a firefighter?
4/14/2017 01:12:00 PM
If you think COPA, CCASA office, IAD, police board, or any other police oversight entity will use footage captured by your body camera to your benefit, then you, my friend, are Soft.As.Baby. Shit.
Oh my God! I hate to Play devil's advocate, but Graham cracker should hide in the back office of the lodge. What a horrible impression his appearance gives. Then he mumbles for a minute and takes off, what the hell was that ? Wow,looks like Graham cracker was the Manchurian candidate. I don't understand you graham. You wanted the presidency so bad that you orchestrated the illegal removal of Mike, so why don't you get up on the dance floor and do your thing Mr president ? Same here ... very little, if any out of pocket expense through Aetna. So far, so good. But, with that being said, my wife & I are both on Medicare. I would wonder how our retirees who have not yet hit 65 years of age are doing?

I feel the same way. Residency has been challenged in many cities and states and the courts almost always side with the municipality. In addition, like many of you, I have non-police friends living in some of the northern suburbs with really great educational systems ... but, they're paying $15-18,000 per year in property taxes on homes under 3000 sq. feet. The grass isn't always greener out there.
Yes he is definitely smoking the crack. Crack is whack!
Instead of bitching and moaning about the CPD the Chicago alderskanks should do a better job of trying to prevent all the homicides South of Roosevelt Road and West of Western Avenue.
kevin was on WGN and sounded like a rock head.
/////////////\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
NICE TRY, Media. Fuck body cams. If we wear them so should every boss and politician.

AMEN! Indiana has a balanced budget, low taxes, solvent pensions and -most importantly- nationalist sentiment
If all four unions had ANY balls they would ban together and not give in to what would ultimately be the domino effect of collective bargaining, contractual Rights, and Civil Rights for cops of all ranks.
You can't even get 2 blue shirts to agree where to have lunch and you think Sgt's, Lt's and Capt.'s will join US against the city?
Please STFU about residency. It was a term of employment when you were hired.
If you read the current contract, there is another TERM of employment that acts as a loophole allowing you to live outside the city.
It's called RETIREMENT!
I'm taking full advantage of that out today.
After 27 years, no more alarm clock!
The mayor always wins.
Know why? The public hates cops.
That aint changin no time soon, boys n girls.

When I came on, free health care and a HS diploma or a ged was a "term of employment".

So please, STFU!
To all you "Sue to lift residence "trolls, just what to you propose as your knockout legal argument point?
Got to be more than "No one else has it". Or"I don't like it"
I am sure you can find a lawyer that will take your money and tell you that he will win because he is such a wonderful lawyer. But without some constitutional precedent, you are wasting money.
They do not have to worry about too many complaints from the Chicago Police Department. There are too many watchdog groups, most of the department is minority/ethnic, and CPD has been under the microscope for a good decade now. This is a waste of time and resources to barely tweek anything. They have trouble generating any real complaints besides a few bad apples making the news. Meanwhile, making it a personal "F U" by mentioning ghetto nonsense as part of our contract will increase the homincide rate from 800 to 950.
P.S.
Good luck propaganda lovers.
Aetna works great for me. You are nit stuck in a network. Once I got thru the prescription maze it's a lot better than BCBS

Residency should be used as a bargaining chip. We've seen other law-enforcement municipalities have filed lawsuits and won. Put residency on the table so we don't lose anything

Then don't move if you don't want to pay more in property taxes no one is saying YOU have to leave if residency is lifted but it should be an option. I would rather have a decent neighborhood and schools then forced to stay in Chicago.
Every time the inspector general tries to investigate the aldercreatures, he gets shutdown but the police are the ones that need changes.
Ain't that a bitch?!
Everyone has cameras pointed at you...and you bitch about having to wear them...do you even realize how stupid that sounds?

Not quite what you think or as easy as you stated. Not taking sides and have a chance to win, but comparing Milwaukee PD is like comparing apples and oranges
First the Supreme Court that decided this case was by a 5-2 decision and this might surprise you but the Wisconsin Supreme Court has 5 republicans and 2 democrats
Second it was the Wisconsin Supreme Court that decided this case so it sets no standard or precedent for the Illinois Supreme Court which would hear our case. I don't think I have to tell you the make up of the Illinois Supreme Court, but I can assure the majority is not republican
Third there are other cities in the US that have residency
Finally I love you statement that every city that challenged residency has one, moron.tou call guys morons and you right that they have ONE

You're both right in a way. Not going anywhere short term, but when the oppressed minorities and more importantly, those that live off their chaos, (lawyers, politicians and media) find that the cameras don't work as they expect but rather expose the kafka-esque world cops are forced to inhabit, they'll become to expensive to maintain. Especially when the rats lies and evil are exposed and start limiting the corrupt, foul lawyer's awards.
They want leniency/reduced policing and you want to go home safely to your families. Sounds like a win win. Stay fetal, do the bare minimum, and let them slug it out with bullets until they extinct themselves.
No reason to put yourselves at risk for people who hate you.
