Impartial Findings

  • All 15 officers who went before the Police Board last year were found guilty of misconduct and were either fired, suspended or quit the force rather than face a hearing, according to a report released Thursday.
Gee whiz - that's a 100% success rate. And that's 100% bullshit.
  • The numbers — seven officers discharged, one suspended and seven resignations in 2016 — are part of a tougher stance taken by the panel responsible for disciplining CPD officers following a shake-up of the nine-member board in the wake of protests after the release of the Laquan McDonald shooting video in November 2015.

“The FOP believes the increase in the number of officers charged is more a reflection of the political climate in the city than the conduct of police officers,” Kevin Graham said in a statement Thursday. “The Police Board needs a take a look at the quality and integrity of investigations into police misconduct.”
And the political whack of the accused.
  • The total number of officers who were fired or quit amid disciplinary action by the board in 2016 was only one more than in 2015, but the fact that no officers were cleared by the board in 2016 was a rarity. In 2015, seven officers were found not guilty, and six were found not guilty in 2014, according to Police Board reports.
So the Police Board has become a "kangaroo court" that exists solely to find cops guilty at a 100% rate rather than conduct any sort of impartial investigation that might find an unpopular, but just, verdict. No wonder the PBPA is rightfully proud of their win in the courts upholding the arbitration hearings route and the FOP is seriously weighing the exercise of that overlooked clause in the Contract.

As was told to me by an old timer, "Kid, this is the only job where you can be fucked for doing something and rewarded for doing nothing". Lesson learned in spades. And the Police Board just reinforced it.

Be safe and back each other up. You, we, are all we got.

Case in point, a PO who I think worked in 10, get fired for indebtedness to the city. (I know he's stupid, but hear me out). He files a civil appeal and a judge agrees he shouldn't have been fired and send it back to the police board. Guess what the police board does, they give him his job back with a 5 year suspension basically telling the judge that they are the ones in charge not the judge.
Officers will not get a fair hearing with the police board unless they add sworn members to it.

Sure, Fire the Officer. It makes sense.
Think about it for a second, from the City's / Department's standpoint.

The Officer gets fired.
(S)He knows its bullshit, we know it's bullshit, hell, even the Department knows it's bullshit.

The Officer has to sue to get the job back. Even the City / Department knows that they'll get the job back.

HOWEVER

Lawsuits cost $.
(Anywhere between $30,000 and $50,000, depending on the situation and the lawyer)
Where's that money coming from? Certainly not your CPD paycheck, because you're FIRED. Oh, yeah, they threw a benefit for you, they even raised $20,000. How far is that going to last?

Meanwhile, what are you going to do for income? You're a Cop that got shitcaned, no one want's to touch you. You think you're getting a job that pays what you're making today? Plus benefits?

Then there's the heartache, ass-pain, stress and bullshit that comes along with it... How am I going to feed my family? How am I going to pay my mortgage? The Tuition? What happens if one of my kids / spouse gets hurt because I have no health insurance...
How many marriages can withstand THAT bullshit?

Ok, so MAYBE in the end you get the job back, MAYBE you get back pay. Minus any Overtime or Special... Was it worth it?

I used to look at those dog-asses back in the day with distain when they said "No one got fired for doin' nothin'." Now I think that they were geniuses.

You don't believe me?
You think I'm making this shit up?
You think I'm a Dog-ass?
There's a whole mess of Cops I can get you in touch with that have gone thru or are going thru thru the above scenario. Hell, ask the Coppers in 008.

If you think that the police board actually does an " impartial investigation" then you have your facts wrong. The board relies on a report sent to them by a hearing officer and nothing more. The members of the board do a conference call and get calls by the president of the board but rarely meet as a board to discuss a case.

OFF TOPIC.......
On The Fox News Channel (FNC) on 05 MAY the program called THE FIVE ran a 20 minute segment on the ambush attack of our officers a few nights ago.......and totally lambasted 9 1/2's ineptness in running this city......citing not just the attacks on officers, but the crime running rampant in just 5 districts.
National news story which only appears on page 9 in this city's MSM.........

Courts controlled by liberal democrats have only one objective in mind and that is to ignore the constitution and rule of laws and rule on the political sentiment. It could not have been more clear in the recent hearings of Gorsuch, the 9th circuit restraining of lawful presidential executive orders or the probation of straw purchasers putting guns in the hands of criminals here in crook county. These people seek a mob rules mentality because the mob is responsible for reelecting them. Lawlessness is the order of the day and anyone who tries to uphold the law will be steamrolled.

The 8th district cops waiting to be fired is the biggest scam I've ever seen. They did nothing wrong and the media received bad information that they tried to cover up. It's one of the worst things I've ever seen and everyone in 8 should be fetal because of it.

You have only to look at the number of Exempt members with sustained cases in their files that should have been fired for their transgressions that were not.

There is no credibility in this process at all.

And to the guy advocating that not doing police work is the way to go, essentially stealing a paycheck, most were fired for reasons that had nothing to do with police work. No tears for them. I worry about the ones jammed up while doing police work only.

The same guy who wouldn't go to court?
Was the traffic car who pulled rds but failed to do the reports?
Double dipped working OT initiatives?
Ran his security business on duty?
I can't believe he was fired again and again given a chance to return to our uniform. Nice example of the board not doing the right thing. Other than that guy trying to talk himself up here, no one has a nice thing to say about him. He's the next big news story.

National media is starting to cover the real reason for the uptick in violence across the country, well at least Fox news is. The attorney General, Sessions called it the Ferguson effect and eluded to the fact that it should be a number one priority for cities to provide safety and security for its residents. This is the complete and total opposite of what democrats provide for their cities, lawlessness and violence. I am coming to the realization that if this perverse interpretation of the law continues democratic controlled cities will become a sanctuary for the criminal element where you have a 1 in 10 chance of ever being caught for a crime.

The double standard for the clouted makes me sick. How can a P.O. crash into a train, destroy a squad car, shut down the brown line for hours, cost the city millions of dollars with lawsuit and get promoted to top it off while other P.O.'s are being fired for so much less. CPD way! Earned not given. The clown show continues folks.

Or view any part of the hearing. You appear before the hearing officer and he sends his recommendations to the board. Then the phone calls start to see if you are guilty or innocent

She cost the city 3 million in a lawsuit plus untold hundreds of thousands in cta lost revenue, repairs and man hours. Her daddy was tight with GAPA. Her reward was promotion. Any suburban dept would of launched her ass of at Cape Canaveral. Mysteriously her hubby made meritious detective. Now she's in 025 instead of 3,4.5.6.7.8.9.21 or 22

Per the contract if you get discharged from the job you lose your banked comp time. I know it doesn't make sense since it's compensation which you earned. It was definitely a major factor in guys choosing to retire rather then fight the police board. It's another thing the union needs to remove from the contract.

You think Rahm and the walking GED Supt cares about working coppers let alone fetal coppers ? 60 percent over the norm in CPD with guys taking their own lives. Every day you poor souls get hammered by merit hacks.

Stress kills and heart problems is rampant now in CPD. Go for stress test guys and girls. The stress leads to clogged arteries and it takes little to take you out at anytime. Anyone can get heart problems regardless of age in this shit every day coppers endure. The daily stress CPD street copper' are under today is worse then being in the Middle East in a war zone.

Keep the stress down folks, avoid tuning into the merit hacks directions. Hopefully the "G" will come to the rescue and change a few people doings in upper level city and county government. Hope many of Rahm' and Toni' people get to stand in front of a federal judge violating, what they do to violate copper' rights everyday.

Keep the faith CPD, you are at the bottom and soon it could get better.

Grow the fuck up. Same stress as a war zone
When was the last time an IED blew up a squad car killing and maiming the occupants. Or a RPG was shot rhrough a squad car window or you had to watch your buddies get killed, maimed or lose limbs and be disfigured on a weekly and sometimes a daily basis. That's stress and to compare that to having to deal with a merit hack is ridiculous
