Another Summer Mobile Shooting

  • A Chicago Police officer was shot in the hand and a suspect was also wounded late Saturday in an East Chatham neighborhood apartment building on the South Side.

Officers on routine patrol got out of their vehicle just after 11 p.m. when they saw people drinking on the street in the 8100 block of South Maryland Avenue, Deputy Supt. Kevin Navarro said in a press conference early Sunday. When the officers walked up to the group, one of the people ran into an apartment building stairwell.

The officers chased him into the stairwell and saw he had a gun, Navarro said. During a struggle for the weapon, the suspect shot an officer in the hand. The officer’s partner returned fire, striking the suspect. A gun was recovered at the scene.
A bit closer to the lake this time - only a mile-and-a-quarter or so.

And as usual the relatives are all up in arms:
  • Relatives of the man gathered outside Stroger Hospital declined to comment. They complained that police were chasing the man, and they could be heard shouting.
You know what would be nice? If these assholes would just drink in the yard. You know, the way we do. Nobody bothers us in the yard.

But if that doesn't work for the "community," we would once again, just ask for a list of laws and ordinances that the "community" isn't required to follow - ordinances and laws passed by the duly elected representatives and presented to the Police Department for enforcement.

In the meantime, good job to the coppers involved, a quick recovery is wished to you.

Gee, it seems like Summer Mobile is going to be a little shorthanded for the rest of June.

Get well. The coulda-shoulda of proactive policing. No heros in the ghetto please.
Yes boys, there was once a time when going out and getting a gun was the thing.
But those days haven't been around seen since the waning of the Sony Walkman.
Stirring up Rahm'sKids is a no-no. He has more sympathy for them than he has for us.

As Rahm Emanuel's liberal Sister-City London mayor would say:
"I want to reassure (The Community) and all our visitors, not to be alarmed. Our city remains one of the safest in the world,”
Where is that titmouse?
Is he a Special Ed in hiding again, nibbling on a wheel of cheese as the mayhem spreads?

Business as usual for Tolerant and Feral Chicago.
Stay Fetal, mind your business and plan on going home w/o any additional holes.

The Lt. on afternoons over at Summer Mobile is apparently going by an activity quota regarding whether or not you can take a day off. Instead going by seniority, like it is clearly states in our order, he's deciding to make his choice by how many arrests, ANOVS, and parkers you've brought in. If true, let's get it in writing! At this rate all the POs will be guaranteed 30 extra days!

Remember when Mark Brown wrote his article bout the racist white people who don't want section 8 up north? Well 81 st Maryland, hell the entire east end of 006 is now section 8, and how has that worked out Mark? Used to be a beautiful middle class neighborhood there. Then section 8 came and it now crime riddled. This is why they don't want section 8. Not race-chatham residents been complaining bout it for years-old it brings crime and terrible people. Sure Mr. Brown will rush to the area to validate my point. And to the officers at the scene:excellent job. Most of our training is a joke but the beat car who first arrived used LEMART training to apply a tourniquet to the injured PO. Talked to PO and helped keep him calm. Great job. It's going to be a long summer. With all the "reform" Rahm and Eddie keep handing us on department directives it's clear our safety is secondary to the section 8 residents. Another officer shot, sadly odds are more to come. We're restricted on what we can do. But last night showed how well we perform when we stick together. We are all we have out there now more then ever. Stay safe.

That said, what part of 'stay fetal' haven't you guys figured out?

The first problem was engaging a group of assholes drinking on the street. The second problem was doing it on foot - that's a huge tactical disadvantage. If you absolutely felt it necessary to address a routine, insignificant issue (this shit is happening on every other corner in the ghetto) a spotlight and a "time to go" over the PA works 99.9% of the time.

ALL THIS BECAUSE THE SUMMER MOBILE BOSSES WANTED FUCKING ANOVS.

Yeah, I'll Monday Morning QB this all day long speaking from 2+ decades in the shittiest ghetto districts. It's called 'picking and choosing your battles'.

Just like Kidnergarteners, their world revolves around attention. Who would be able to see them if they were in their yard? Ever on a call where a family member passes away, and the relative is perfectly calm until they get outside on the front porch? Then they can't stand up all of a sudden, start screaming hysterically, etc. When on the front porch, everyone can show off their new Air Jordans. No one can see them in their back yard. Remember, it's backwards world.

Take your time healing and don't let the

That's between YOU and YOUR surgeon.

As an aside:
We noticed that the Fibune has run both
subsequent Officer Involved Shootings
but have turned the comment sections off.

Why?

Isn't it their duty to foster public
discussion about how the public safety
situation in Chicago has reclined in
riotous rot under Rahm Emanuel?

What is there to be gained by stifling
this badly needed conversation?

Other than the conversation being seen
as very unhelpful to "The Narrative."

Rahm must've called and said he didn't
want more of his insulation burned off
this summer.

Yes a bad idea, Even though the unit does have some senior officers. What about the foot patrol they had a few years back? Officers weren't even off probation! Placed a bunch of PPOs in the ghetto, in a box, on foot, great idea!! I've had the unfortunate luck of doing both foot patrol as a PPO and SMP. Both complete garbage!!

This unit should not exist. Through no fault of their own they are the most ill-equipped, misdirected, and tactically unsound unit in the city. I venture to guess over 75% of this unit was assigned based on reverse seniority making it almost entirely comprised of P.O.'s with an average of three years on the job not including detectives, gangs, supervisors of which there are few and which again were probably almost all chosen based on reverse seniority. This is already proving to be a failed enterprise and I bet a memo has been or will be sent to those in charge of this failed unit to stay off the radar for the time being. Look for it to come when they come off their RDOs.

Have to admire the consistency of the clouted bosses. They have the slave labor, reverse seniority people, trapped at a detail, that most didn't want go to, and they force them to meet a self proclaimed quota, to be able to use their contractual rights to use THEIR time to be off. (Was that a long sentence or what!)

God bless the officer and may you make a full recovery.

That said, I've given up getting out of the car and engaging ghetto monsters over ANOVs years ago. Quite a few of us believe the ghetto is not worth our best efforts or one drop of an earnest officer's blood.

Just go through the motions, guys. It's their neighborhood, not yours. If the citizens (and their elected representatives) really wanted laws enforced, then we wouldn't be seeing new garbage laws and orders coming down like this Non-Use of Farce policy.

And if this incident stems from insulated "bosses" pressuring new guys for activity while the "boss" sits in his office with his hands clasped behind his head, feet resting on a desk, then that good officer's blood is on the hands of that disingenuous deceiving "boss".
