As Europe in general and England in particular reel from another series of attacks by terrorists, we can't help but notice one thing, that was pointed out by a couple of e-mailers also:
- Cars, knives, bats - three things that liberals here in Chicago have decided aren't deadly weapons - and they are going to crucify coppers who react as if cars, knives or bats actually were deadly weapons.
We don't know about you, but we can't wait for the new "Non-Use of Force" order that's coming out later this month.

Anyone who does not realize we are next is an out-and-out fool. Not all people who come to our shores are honest, hard-working and looking to assimilate. They are here to eventually take control and change our culture and the change is not for our betterment.
Police are going to be like the 'monitor' in the tv commercial for a certain identity theft product. The police are only here to monitor if a crime is being committed not to do anything about it. Who will the monitor tell, maybe there have to report to the 9.5 ballerina or appointed deputy!

Having visited London twice in the past 5 years, I still can't understand police officers on patrol not being armed. According to my friends who live there, police officers must call for armed backup. To be fighting off some terrorist with a billy club or pepper spray is stupid.

They could come down Michigan Ave going south bound in vans, and starting at Oak street open the side door on the vans and have the front passenger and back passenger(s) open up on the people walking down the street with high powered rifles. When they get to Chicago ave they could simply do a U turn and come back north bound on Michigan ave continuing to shoot people and then at Oak street they would get on Lake Shore Drive going north bound. They could then pull off Lake Shore Drive at Diversey and ditch the vans and get in cars that they'll have waiting for them and take off. Diversey and LSD are in the 19th district. The shootings will have occurred in the 18th district. Only the 18th district cops will hear the 911 calls coming out. The 19th district is on a different radio zone. By the time the cops find the vans, the shooters will be long gone. This would likely happen on a Sunday when traffic isn't bad. This is just one possible scenario. Schools, airports and churches would be targets.
CPD doesn't have the personnel or preparedness to deal with this. They'd rather spend money training cops on force mitigation and de-escalation and other useless ideas. The city will only address or should I say 'act' like they're addressing a problem like this AFTER the act of terror occurs. The powers that be are more concerned about being accused of racial profiling. If you recall, this was in part what led to the 9/11 hijackers being ignored when their flight instructor notified authorities of their suspicious behavior. They didn't take action because they were afraid of being accused of profiling.
The cops in the UK are being ripped because they shot the terrorists that killed people there a couple days ago 50 times. The media is saying that that was excessive, police brutality. The media is taking the focus off of the spreading terrorism problem and placing the focus on how many bullets the police put into these ruthless murderers. This is how they control things and it leads to complacency and ignorance of the people who are being misled by the media. I have gone to 2 Cubs games since the Manchester incident. Both games I rode the redline. Before and after the games, I did not once observe a police officer or a canine team at the cta station. Unbelievable!

When they get to Chicago ave they could simply do a U turn and come back north bound on Michigan ave continuing to shoot people and then at Oak street they would get on Lake Shore Drive going north bound. They could then pull off Lake Shore Drive at Diversey and ditch the vans and get in cars that they'll have waiting for them and take off. Diversey and LSD are in the 19th district. The shootings will have occurred in the 18th district. Only the 18th district cops will hear the 911 calls coming out. The 19th district is on a different radio zone. By the time the cops find the vans, the shooters will be long gone. This would likely happen on a Sunday when traffic isn't bad. This is just one possible scenario. Schools, airports and churches would be targets.
CPD doesn't have the personnel or preparedness to deal with this. They'd rather spend money training cops on force mitigation and de-escalation and other useless ideas. The city will only address or should I say 'act' like they're addressing a problem like this AFTER the act of terror occurs. The powers that be are more concerned about being accused of racial profiling. If you recall, this was in part what led to the 9/11 hijackers being ignored when their flight instructor notified authorities of their suspicious behavior. They didn't take action because they were afraid of being accused of profiling.
The cops in the UK are being ripped because they shot the terrorists that killed people there a couple days ago 50 times. The media is saying that that was excessive, police brutality. The media is taking the focus off of the spreading terrorism problem and placing the focus on how many bullets the police put into these ruthless murderers. This is how they control things and it leads to complacency and ignorance of the people who are being misled by the media. The media and human naivety and ignorance is how a problem like this spills out and becomes an everyday threat. Sorry about the long reply.

Need to do some research, the Terrorists in the recent attacks were born in the U.K.. The Muslim community in London dates back to the 15th Century.
As a fairly long retired ex London cop I wonder if I may comment?
Do not underestimate the hostility of the UK media to police officers and armed policing in particular. According to the press and politicians we are the ONLY police in the world who cannot be trusted to carry arms routinely. The UK is a country where a picture of an armed cop buying lunch can be guaranteed to make front page news on local media and even national media.
Our current Prime Minister HATES the police with a vengeance, that as the UK Home Secretary she presided over 20% cuts in policing since 2010 with corresponding cuts in immigration services has gone unchallenged by our media. The number of armed officers in the UK has also declined since 2010. Numbers have fallen from just under 7k in 2010 to just under 6k now.
We are in deep trouble over here. Theresa May cut police believing volunteers would fill the gap (they haven't). Meanwhile the population of the UK heads north at an alarming rate. The population of London is about 8.5 million and will rise. The strength of the Met police is about 31K and could fall by another 10k. This is OK because it 'doesn't matter about how many police you have, it's what you do with them'. In addition we now have direct entry at higher ranks, such as Insp or Supt (Lt or Capt equivalent). Soon we will have a serious policing failure brought about by inexperience and lack of leadership.
Finally, you may wonder why more cops in the UK do't want to be armed. Here is a story from 2015. The background was that someone was shot whilst attempting to spring a prisoner from Crown Court. The officer is still suspended today after being arrested. I could give you similar tales. Have a look at the case of Tony Long, for example.

That would be enough to scare off any terrorist.
