St Louis Riots
- Following the acquittal of former police officer Jason Stockley for the shooting for Anthony Smith, St. Louis officials spoke out about the verdict, and appear to be promoting civil unrest or worse.
“I want you to prepare and brace yourself for what’s about to come,” an activist said at a press conference after the verdict. “We’ve said it before. When we don’t get justice, we will get peace. Prepare yourselves.”
St. Louis Alderman John Collins-Muhammad then got up to speak.
“Until Black people in this city get justice. Until we get a seat at the table. There will be no peace in this city,” he said. “Everywhere you look, black people are being shot down by police, cops get off, get a pay raise, and nothing happens.”
“We want justice today. We want justice for every black man, every black woman that has died at the hands of police, that has died at the hands of a racist white privilege system and institution set up for the black man and black woman to fail. No more of that! That will change, right here today!”
“JUSTICE OR ELSE,” Alderman Collins-Muhammad screamed as he finished.
Really? Because everywhere we look, black people are being killed by.....other black people. And not by a little ratio either - something on the order of 50-to-1 in most places. And of that minuscule percentage, something like 99% of the deceased were shooting, stabbing or otherwise attacking police.
It isn't just judges finding Officers have acted within the scope of their authority, granted by law. It's juries, too. Also, outside agencies including the actual Department of Justice.
Here's a strange thought - even though we and officers across the nation complain about the quality and quantity of training received by those in our profession (the result of ruthless budget cuts by know-nothing politicians), maybe, just maybe, Officers as a whole, know far more about what the law says and what the law allows than some two-bit pandering, asshole politicians and uneducated activist might think they know? Maybe Officers are ::OMG:: getting it correct 999 times out of 1,000?
And while Officers strive (and continue to strive) to get to that impossible perfect score of 1,000 out of 1,000, the "community" throws its support and faux "outrage" behind:

- a suicidal woman in Texas with a Court ordered warrant whose own family couldn't be bothered to come up with a measly $500

And in a few months, we will get to see this Kabuki Theater of the Absurd in Chicago streets following the Mc Donald trial, whatever the verdict. These people are just looking for an excuse to cause chaos. And hopefully when the wealthy corporations with their showrooms on Mag Mile get their windows smashed and employees intimidated from showing up for work; the ripple effect will be that they will no longer support and donate to the political career of the Tough Guy from Willmette. The protesting mutts have no clue as to how the judicial system works.
They attack the mayor's residence. A mayor who has only been in office since April. And had nothing to do with the case or trial.
They disrupt the malls in protest. The merchants have no part in the judicial process.

Two things to take away from the Shockley trial. First, you need to watch what you say. If Shockley never said "I am going to kill that mother******, I don't think he would have been arrested. Second, the cameras did help the judge determine that Shockley did not plant the gun as alleged by the prosecution. Lesson learned, In Car Cameras and Body Cameras are here to stay. The officers who refuse to except this fact are going to get themselves in trouble. They can be a valuable asset if you use them to your advantage. One of the biggest problems is that a lot of officers have been taking short cuts or don't clearly understand our laws or Department Orders. These officers think that they are doing the right thing because they have been doing the same thing for years. We need to educate ourselves and make sure we are doing it correctly now.

Good thought, but in Cook County you also have judges that are worse than the juries. Previously judges ruled by the law. Now more and more you see them interjecting their personal views into their ruling.

It hasn't taken yet because they have kept their shtick for their own neighborhoods. I'm not about to shoulder a rifle and go after them for torching the ghetto. During the civil rights era, the demand was for equality. Merit was the standard by which individuals were to advance themselves. Liberals decided to put a thumb on the scale in favor of minorities. Under Obama, the Justice Department demanded that minorities not be disciplined for bad behavior in schools (a thumb on the scales) and that too many minorities were in prison for violation of the law (a thumb on the scales). What the riots are about is demand that in the application of justice a thumb be placed on the scales such that minorities are not charged for violating the law or resisting police.
As the balkanization of the country counties, the conflicts between groups will increase as all groups fight to place their thumbs on the scales.

Appears St Louis PD is getting it right this time. 120 arrests last night. They are getting pro active and taking care of business. Not like Fergusion where the PD sat back and watched in get out of control

Statistics from the Federal Government show that black income has risen more then white income over the past 10 years. Combine that with the fact that St. Louis is one of the five American cities listed on the top 50 most dangerous cities in the world and the alderman's comments show just how ignorant he really is, and a racist at that.
