- Some politicians in the past have recommended deploying the National Guard to help Chicago quell gun violence, but Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin went even further on Thursday, suggesting the United Nations perhaps send in peacekeepers in the face of what he called a “quiet genocide.”
Boykin was traveling to New York to meet with Oscar Fernandez-Taranco of Argentina, the U.N. Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Support, to seek international help with “horrific levels of shootings” and other violent crime in West Side and South Side communities.
“I’m hoping to appeal to the U.N. to actually come to Chicago and meet with victims of violence, and maybe even possibly help out in terms of peacekeeping efforts, because I think it’s so critical for us to make sure that these neighborhoods are safe,” Boykin said at O’Hare International Airport on Thursday.
Boykin obviously has no idea of the federal laws and Constitutional hurdles that would have to be overcome to have any sort of foreign forces operating within US borders, armed or unarmed. Not to mention Rules of Engagement and other such concerns. Add in the constant headlines of corruption, rape and sex trafficking that follow the UN everywhere and you have a recipe for disaster upon the disaster that already is the south and west sides.

If Boykin really wants to do some good for this town, he should just go to Springfield and convince the Democratic Black Caucus into passing some tough laws for shooters and gang bangers carrying guns. Illinois is a concealed carry state and there is no reason to be on the streets with a concealed carry handgun unless you have that permit. But, Preckwinkle and other black leaders do not want tough laws for they know it will put more blacks into prison, which is where these black shooters belong.

Unsaid it that this can only be accomplished by the black community themselves. As stated, this situation originated thanks to the interference of political progressives. Further interference will only make it worse. The black community must find the strength within themselves to toss out showboating freeloaders who pass themselves off as politicians and instead elect those who can deliver results towards this end.

The only way to defeat the enemy in this case is via some deep, deep introspection on the part of that community, and a 180 reversal of its ideals and values. Not likely to happen.
