Strategic Gentrification
- Democratic governor candidate Chris Kennedy on Wednesday accused Mayor Rahm Emanuel of leading a “strategic gentrification plan” aimed at forcing African-Americans and other minorities out of Chicago to make the city “whiter” and wealthier.
“I believe that black people are being pushed out of Chicago intentionally by a strategy that involves disinvestment in communities being implemented by the city administration, and I believe Rahm Emanuel is the head of the city administration and therefore needs to be held responsible for those outcomes,” Kennedy said during a news conference about gun violence in North Lawndale.
Black people are leaving to escape the out-of-control violence in their neighborhoods abetted by the failure of the criminal justice system to hold law breakers accountable. As for the "disinvestment," Kennedy is pandering to the voters Rahm is desperately attempting to court for his own election.
It's certainly interesting that a democratic candidate for governor is attacking a democratic mayor to get the votes both will need to win.

When u have Judges handing out low sentencing for violent crimes including probation if the case has not been thrown out its a HUGH problem for everyone, and we mean 1000's of cases are like this. Call it what u want Mr. Kennedy but blame yourselves for failure to serve and protect the hard working citizens everywhere and bow to violent criminals for votes. Its a systematic failure everywhere and don't close your eyes on the corruption that stems from the courts and its Judicial system! Judging with emotions and not sticking to the constitution and laws in place is a disaster for all of us!

The "bad" thing is ... white privilege. After destroying the neighborhood and leaving the mess for someone else to clean up, it's white people who are laying down the money, hiring labor and making the effort to turn those blighted areas around. And they're reaping the rewards when they lease or sell the properties.
