This Isn't Good

  • A man who was fatally shot on New Year’s Day on the South Side has become the third homicide of 2018, police say.

The shooting happened about 5 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Princeton Avenue in the Fuller Park neighborhood, police said.

The victim, a 34-year-old man, was shot multiple times in the neck while behind the wheel of a car, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Circumstances of the attack were not immediately clear.

Earlier, a 29-year-old woman was found suffering from blunt trauma to the head about noon in the 2900 block of North Hampden Court in the Park West neighborhood. She was pronounced dead on the scene of the basement apartment.
So in the course of a single day Chicago went from a predicted 365 homicides to a potential 1095!

And this is even worse:
  • No arrests have been made in any of the homicides.
The Department has gone from a 20% clearance rate to zero in the course of a single day. We expect some heads to roll over this.

It's funny as hell watching the crime rates go up as the liberal politicians continue to tie the hands of their Police Officers. But it must be something they figure the citizens can live with. They don't, they have armed security. Their lives are valuable, the citizens lives, not so much.

In a normal business and in a normal police department, a murder clearance rate such as Chicago's would result in the demotion or reassignment of the chief of detectives and some area commanders. But, in this town, the king of political patronage appointments, these people either keep their jobs or get promoted. Something is wrong in the detective division and it should be analyzed , with the detectives, states attorney office and leadership all involved in identifying the problem and fixing it.

You are expecting too much if you are expecting heads to roll over this. Doesn’t happen, usually it’s a promotion. Mass transit, nothing’s done, no head rolled, districts with high murder rates, no heads roll. In most cases promotions were in order. Can’t even blame it on the weather, that excuse is gone

Back to the main issue, I've said it before and I'll say it again, Homicide Units are a joke. They sit at their computers hoping the offender is going to jump out and surrender. The Supervisors seem to be programed to accept the usual BS from the assigned Detectives, "Sgt. they lawyered up, victim refuses to cooperate, no witnesses and the case is Suspended pending new information." The Dick's come on the scene and start ordering the PO's and questioning them, did you question witnesses, did you canvass the area, did not protect the crime scene, and who knows the offender. It's further proof, the Detectives are not doing their follow-up investigations. It's a new culture of suspending cases, not doing they're canvassing, or searching for potential witnesses. When the PO's arrive on a shooting scene with a dead victim(s), the area of the shooting is hot, no one is going to talk to the police. That's why the Dicks need to canvass on another day, and try to find someone who is willing to cooperate, without a dead body on the scene and the possibility of friends of the offender being in the crowd. That's right Detectives, the old double back, instead of sitting at you computers and doing nothing, get off your asses and do some old fashion police work.

There's going to be a bunch of Detectives trying to defend a 10% Clear-Up Rate, saying, it's a different time, and all of the excuses of their ineptness of not knowing the job they are assigned to do. There hasn't been a Detective dump in a very long time, maybe it's time.

Big laugh when eddie and rahm were gonna try another bs positive media blitz in 020 the night of New Year's eve. Lincoln square was voted one of the safest neighborhoods in the country so they thought they'd kiss some fake news ass for a chance to get a little positive PR time. Then they found out just a couple miles north there was shooting in 024 so they cancelled. Guess they were afraid someone would notice- there's nothing to brag about when you have a 2 block radius of decent neighborhood surrounded by crap.

Speaking of the Mayor, has a new policy for 2018 for the 019 house watchers. They are not permitted to wear the fan d BWC’s. This is very confusing for me. These canera’s were touted as officer safety by the beloved commander Buslic many years ago. There has been several incidents when arrests were made on hermitage st. , so what is up with this verbal order? Why would these officers be the only officers in any district be excluded from big brother??? Does the mayor feel transparency should go so far? These officers are not inside his residence, so I’m perplexed.

You can lead a horse to water, but....

I only lecture the young kids once. If they don't get it then they never will get it. Two thirds of the kids get it (the city will fuck you over in a heart beat and hang you out to dry) but one third still want to play the police.

Let me offer my best advice: if you want to fight crime, be proactive, kick ass and take names then you will fuck up and either be fired or indicted. But on this job you can still help people. If you want to help people then you will be ok. Take your pick.

The daily rags cant add up expressway murders because RAHM says they don't count.

And what the hell is a shooting incident? I want body counts just like in that Vegas shooting which would be 1 incident.

And what happened to the CHIEF of Detectives? No more nifty new conferences?

Why not put out how many death investigations are open too for 2017?
Area North will likely add about 20 murders/suicide from 2017 in Feb of 2018.

Here is what is wrong with the detective division; It’s been mismanaged for atleast 12-15 years. You have supervisors in the detective division that have never been a detective, the chief, deputy chiefs, captains, lieutenants and sergeants. These supvisors have no idea what the job of detective is but they think they know because they were merit and have clout, therefore they have detectives running around doing stupid shit that won’t help with the investigation, the detectives have given up just like patrol has, they have thrown their hands up and said ok I’ll run around and do the stupid shit to get the supervisors off my back and then bam you have another homicide, the cycle repeats! Which brings me to the next reason, the department allowed the detective division to dwindle down to dangerous numbers with retirements and promotions. This had a 2 prong effect, 1, a lot of experience left when those detectives retired or were promoted, with the cities failure to promote new detectives for so long none of the experience was passed down to the green horns. 2,The experience detectives that were left became so burned out they just want to be left alone and there are not enough experienced detectives to go around to teach the flood of new detectives that department has promoted since 2013. The new detectives have not been given the knowledge or the the tools to due their job effectively or efficiently; sarge: your up,go handle this shooting over at...... or go handle this homicide at......sure sarge, ah sarge I can’t find a car to take to the scene; sarge:where’s your car? Dic it’s been in the shop for the last month. Hay sarge I need to run someone through accurrint can you do it for me(only supervisors have accurint accounts inthe D unit) sarge: I don’t have account, sorry. Dic: ok who is working that does, sarge: I don’t know let me look, ok it looks like no one. NEXT,Back log of evidence to be tested; sarge the offender left dna evidence at the scene- that evidence won’t come back for 2 1/2 years, sarge the offender left fingerprints- that won’t come back for at least 9 months to a year. Next: cook county felony review; refusal to charge cases, making dics jump through all kinds of unnecessary hoops and still not charge the case , these cases in any other county would be charged and convicted. While trying juggle all of this your case load continues to grow. So as you can see like patrol most detectives have given up, unless it’s a give me case. No excuses, just the truth of what is going on!! The above are just a few examples of what is wrong, I can go on and on, I can’t wait to retire

For all those complaining about supposed “fetal” dets sitting on their hands...let’s ask D March, who wrote the closing supp on JVS case, which mirrored what vid shows...he’s been forced into retirement merely because he was assigned a shooting that all the bosses, attorneys and politicians agreed was justified. Having been there, I’d say enjoy another cup of coffee and grab a snack from the area store. Any day can be your last regardless of how well you do your job.

And let's not forget the one in 004 tonight. Guy found shot in the head in the ally, no gun to be found so naturally it's still a death investigation but imagine 1200 homicides this year!! Hey eddie keep up the crime is down press conferences, it always seems to turn around and bite you in the keester!

..

And you wonder why you didn’t score well on the Dicks exam???
Here’s a clue, 75% or more of the murders in the city are a dead body in the ground with no gun. It’s still a 0110 sparky.

Hey dipshit it was classified as a death investigation on the report not a 0110 so I'll assume when the dicks test came out you showed up on the wrong day! Furthermore you should take a class in sensing sarcasm!
..

A guy shot in the head (and he’s dead is a 0110) and that’s what the report was RD’d for dipshit. As for the score on the Dics test... lol, I’m sitting at my desk in 620 and myself as well as the HGS floor is laughing at your post, KID.

There's going to be a bunch of Detectives trying to defend a 10% Clear-Up Rate, saying, it's a different time, and all of the excuses of their ineptness of not knowing the job they are assigned to do. There hasn't been a Detective dump in a very long time, maybe its time.

Will ever happen. The inept and ones not knowing the job will not get dumped. Everyone knew they shouldn’t be there in the first place
