So, NOT a Free Library?
- Chicago’s City Hall on Friday for the first time put a price tag on the cost to overhaul the roads in and around Jackson Park for the Obama Presidential Center and a related golf course merger: roughly $175 million, with potential funding sources to include the state of Illinois.
If funding from the financially frail Illinois government is to be a major source for paying for the Obama Center roadway work, it could emerge as a campaign issue in the race for governor and other down-ticket contests.
Last October, the Chicago Sun-Times reported how the Democratic leaders who control the Illinois General Assembly – House Leader Mike Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton – were mapping plans to ask the state for more than $100 million to pay for road work related to the Obama Center.
Illinois is around $15 billion in debt with another $130 billion in unfunded liabilities. Coming up with $100 million shouldn't be a problem for Madigan, Cullerton and their magical money tree.

Since the Obama regime classified more documents than any other Presidential administration - just what will the library maintain other than photos or videos? This is nothing more than a boondoggle with a "champion level" golf course thrown in for Barack's buddies to enjoy. Where are the private/donated funds going to?

Wait 'til they start the nonsense that the complex will pay for itself with all the generated tourist income. I recently spent a day at the Lincoln library in Springfield. Went early and toured the site and exhibits leisurely with quiet and plenty of room. Could have fired a civil war cannon from one hall to the next without hitting anyone. Very enjoyable. When the busloads of kids started showing up, it was time to leave. If it was like that with the library of arguably our greatest president, imagine what it will be like with the library (?) of arguably one of our worst. Boondoggle, indeed.
No money. No problem. They will still do it.
Many of our pension dollars went to refurbish Soldiers Field. Many pension holidays involved there.
It is NOT a Presidential library in any way shape or form.
Go look at the website for it an judge for yourself what it is.
It is just another community center smacked in the middle of a public park.
It will not draw the crowds BHO and Rahm anticipate because of its location.

The Obama Library planning committee has rented almost an entire floor in the BCBS building across from Millennium Park, for huge bucks! Money well spent. They rent a floor in a building "miles" away from the actual site? And the boondoggle begins!

Contractors, consultants, committee, subcommitees, etc. To build a glass looking Kenyan hut with one book. Destroy a beautiful park planned ages ago with Japanese garden beach and golf courses.
Unfunded pensions, school closings, high crime; why not blow $175 million on roads to a building no one needs. I hope someone burns the damn thing down.
What $175 million for an Odd House, is outrageous.
I just worry they won’t put in enough highways to handle all the folks flooding into the area to visit the library everyday. I’m sure everyone is anxiously waiting to get in and listen to a recording of him saying what a great president he was. I know I am. What may kill attendance through is if there is an admission.
