Evidently, not Dart:
- Several rumored reports that the inmates of the Cook County Sheriff’s DOC have refused to work in their paid positions of kitchen staff for Super Bowl Sunday.
It has been said that Sheriff Tom Dart gave into the inmates and ordered 50 plus pizzas in order to accommodate the inmates.
Tom Dart does not run the Cook County Jail. The inmates do.
Consider your vote very carefully come November.
There will be no compromise, no consideration nor condoning of any inmate attempt at gaining control in any form.
Granted, this is from a campaign site, but it shouldn't be too difficult for the media to verify. Oh wait, the media has too many friends, spouses and relatives working in six-figure director spots for them to really bring the heat on Tommy. We were surprised to see the recent article about preparations for when the entire Third Watch of the jail calls off sick for Superbowl.

Not to the the FOP will be all over Darts weiner come the election— no qualms or dirt to say from them, other than “keep up the job Dart!”
If the inmates that hold these jobs don’t work, then no one gets their meals...oh well! That problem will take care of itself.

The guy on Crook County site is a moron. It’s literally one guy having a conversation with himself, in his head, then spewing it onto the blog, like a crazy person. Dreaming up a coup in his head and making up voices in shouts and screams to vindicate his own beliefs. I’m sure his mother and father got a chuckle out of him as a youngster, when they would call him in for dinner from tossing winning passes to himself, while pretending to be Dan Dierdorff in one instant, the quarterback barking signals the next.
In his 20s and 30s, it really became a problem and it cost him his wife and children. Now, drunk, alone, partially delusional and having just discovered the internet, well, no one knows what to make of it.

I think Dart is purposefully picking a fight with the guards to gain sympathy from the media. It's just bizarre how he publically rips the guards and thinks that will creat a productive working environment.It's almost like he wants a big call off on the Super Bowl so he can run to the media and tell them how bad he has it. Problem is he created 90% of the problems in the jail.Same people calling in now used to show up before he was Sheriff.
Speaking of jail, rumor is our area central gang team thieves will be officially charged Tuesday. Very high bonds will be the order of the day with the exception of the one that folded and gave it all up at the grand jury. Whats certain is that they won't be eating pizza while watching the Super Bowl at the MCC tomorrow.

It’s not a rumor. I work at the Jail, at the exact location of the delivery (Post 5, the main gate or entrance). The pizzas were absolutely delivered, at about 19:00.
Fire all the jail guards and hire new ones that come to work. If you don’t want you’re job someone else will gladly take it.

The Jail has T.V s everywhere, So why call off? If you come to work you will be able to watch the Superbowl. Cermak, RTU, Div 11, Dorm 4 all havr T.Vs Guards can watch right on the living units.

Citizen reader: agree or not the jail as a component of law enforcement runs best when it is run with the structure, discipline, accountability and character that you find in military and para military institutions. The problem in Cook County in my view is there is no discipline or leadership that comes with the discipline the leadership it should have. Dart is a hack, he is undisciplined himself. He does not even have enough pride to wear a uniform. Stand up straight and instill a minor modicum of confidence Tom.. Pathetic. You know it and I know it and he has hired an organization full of merit hires as provided by the Sheriff's Merit Board. What do you expect? If you are referring to newspaper writers, there is always censorship, they call it editing, pretend that it's about grammer, style of sentence construction, cohesive use of paragraph breaks, elegant overall form of the finished, polished article, etc., but it's always been a given that editorial is gonna have the final cut on content.
That is censorship.
It may appear more blatant, egregious, and Orwellian these days, but it's always been the reality of maintaining the illusion of the purity of honesty of journalism.

When I worked the lock-up always had a bologna and hot sauce “samitch”.
6 years at the county, nothing surprises me. I wish someone get ahold of a list and see how many directors either paid for their their shiney gold badge or is related to him. I promise it would be over 75%. His niece (director white) use to be the coloring director then the sheriff got rid of the drug treatment program staff to get more directors and now the coloring director. Who yes went tier to tier who two interns and would break out colored pencils and coloring sheets for the inmates is now head of the drug treatment program.. I guess coloring will cure their addiction to drugs. Mean while let’s add more directors to run those drug treatment groups. Then his nephew is a sgt who is nicely hidden away from inmates. I’m sure a family reunion picture would have a lot of familiar faces. Shit even the girl who babysat Tom darts kids came into the Jail and went right over to sheriffs police. She even bragged about it. Not surprising.
Surprising would be him actually giving us any kind of credit for all our hard work. Instead we got a half ass email saying call ins were at an all time low. And thanks for coming to work.

Apparently some of CPD that have no idea about how bad it is in the jail can balk about not going to work. Problem is the was a record low number of “medical call-offs” for this years Super Bowl. They don’t tell you in the numbers FMLA, medical, IOD, disabilities, comp time and vacations along with RDOs are recorded in those numbers. So before you start slamming on “Jail Guards” know your facts. The jail is extremely short staffed and daily the mutts throw shit and piss at you. You can’t strip search without a directors permission that they are to afraid to give. Our supervisors can’t not won’t cant make decisions. The inmates will not get charged if they touch us but rest assured we will be charged. Dart cares more about the inmates than he does staff evident by laying off our working supervisors not the 200 cronies with director titles. Pizza for the inmates that masterbate in front of staff males and females, nothing gets done. Pizza for inmates that refuse to work staff told if they touch the pizza they will be severely disciplined. You only see what Dart wants you to see. Dart must go. He has made us look like the laughingstock of law enforcement. So please find out what’s really going on before you our fellow law enforcement brothers and sisters rip on us. We try every day to make it a better environment for us.Vote Dart out.

Hey there you sound like the sheriff himself or his nut guzzler. Those TVs are for the inmates not the correctional officers (COs). Heard from a bonafide source. They rolled in large hi def flat screens for imates in div 2 dorm 4. (which houses about 700-800 inmates in bunk bed dorm setting no cells) Along with di gorno pizzas all for Super Bowl. That’s a lot pizza. Oh and COs were fiercely instructed that pizza was for inmates not them.
Meanwhile you get to enjoy the game in the cozy comfort of a clean, ass stench free living room with pizza wings chips and beer. So next time know what the hell youre talking about before you comment.

Your right but I said we are seen as not that we are the laughingstock of law enforcement. I have 20 years in, this is not the way it was I agree with change but this guy is ridiculous, to charge staff for doing their jobs is insane. The worst part is letting the inmate do what they want with no consequences. Instead do something wrong and get rewarded. While staff are in fear of getting fired or worst going to the penitentiary.
If I could start over I would in a minute, but family and obligations must come first. So much for living a dream of serving in law enforcement. As they say inside it ran before me itwill run when I’m gone. Again Dart must go, vote him out.
