Fifteen Cars
This would seem to be a big deal:
- Hey SCC,
Haven't seen much in the press about Hertz getting ripped off for 15 vehicles in a single incident. The cars have been surfacing on the west side all weekend with 8 or 10 being recovered already. No info if they're being used in shootings, but most have out of state plates.
Haven't heard much about this either, but we found a quick mention in the Tribune:
- Oak Park police are investigating the overnight theft of 15 cars from a local rental business.
According to police, an employee at Hertz, 629 Madison St., arrived to work Thursday morning at about 7:30 a.m., and found the front glass window of the front door broken. Inside the business, the employee discovered the key storage box had been forced open and the keys taken, police said.
The lock to the rear security gate of the parking lot had also been cut, and 15 cars were reportedly missing, the employee told police.
It's so generous of the fine Oak Park businesses to supply Chicago yutes with wheels for school, job interviews, felonious assaults and smash-and-grabs.

Well, there’s no shortage of dumbasses I’m working along-side of that they couldn’t jam up. No camera turned on, no stop given over the air, no receipt given..... but hey it’s all good, we’re doing legit police work right!? I’ve actually seen some idiots falling over themselves to impress the powers that be to keep their spot. Kind of reminds me of the military. There will always be some dumbass out there willing to step on their own dick first, so I won’t have to. Let this City rot, unfortunately.
It was on tv the other night. Channel 5.
Maybe Hertz should hire back OJ. The juice did a commercial for them decades ago saying let hertz put you in the drivers seat. It could be redone for the people that thought OJ did not whack his old lady. All the ghetto schools were allowed to hear the verdict on TV.
The system has broken since the 1960' when LBJ started dollars for votes. Lost the war in Nam and so many G.I' died under his war machine. The man was pure evil.
15 vehicles.
15 drivers.
A crime of passion???
Or.....something.....more.....hmmmmmm.......intricate?
Horse thieves were hung.
Car thieves should be hung.
End of story.
Next case.
Nice car rental business there Rham👍👍👍👍👍👍
GPS tracker? Remote kill switch?
Fiteen cars??????....You'd think SOME ONE would have seen, heard or noticed a lot of activity going on.....YEEEEESH
Good old Oak Park. You live next to the jungle folks. Remember the woman held at gunpoint at Augusta and Austin years ago? She arrived home one night in Oak Park. After she was assaulted in her garage she was marched across the magic boundary line into Austin where fortunately for her a very good shot from a CPD officer put dog down, saved her life and made society a little safer for everyone? Auto theft is no big deal even if is ten or more or so.
How cynical.....
They were needed to drive grandma to Easter week services. This is a service provided by the libtards in OP.
Gee, I guess Hertz shouldn't have become so anti-NRA and dropped the discount program for their members. It would be ironic if it's discovered that 1 or 2 or 3..... of these vehicles had been used in a drive by.
Oh the irony!
Those damn Amish utes acting out again
Heard the offenders were white junkies that needed rides to trade for drugs in the city.
Glad Oak Park is getting a taste of the culture that they have welcomed for so many years. The way they see it those cars were just liberated by da youts.
Inside job

Verdict: amazing the number of workplaces
that played that verdict.
Check the board of ed they took them for drivers ed class
You can't even steal bank pens anymore.
That Hertz was a custom order.
Hope they return the vehicles with the gas tanks full.
What a festering pustule this city has become.
Lars Pilsen
Now try to get someone from the car rental company to sign a complaint
Can you imagine the stank they left behind?
Now, kees me you fool!!!!
This tells you that these companies just don't care. No alarm system. Keys left in a locked box with the key accessible. Oak park is and will always be a liberal suburb, the police department is not very hands on even though they border one of the high crime districts. They are led by Chief Tony Ambrose who has been there his entire career. They don't stop many cars and will follow a hot car to their village limits and let it go. No very pro police knowing that the thugs drive thru their town going to the western burbs. Chief Ambrose is a yes man who is not Chief material.
They'll leave. Too expensive supplying thieves transportation. Everywhere that gets ripped off, and everywhere thieves are protected, business will leave.
Thank you very damn much democrats. Hope you choke on your ill gotten gains.
J.J.
Maybe ghetto scum can get a Hertz Discount, but not the NRA. The NRA is bad.
Detroit in a few years time to move sell the house blow this pop stand retire police office!
It is amazing that certain segments of our society can organize a large group of citizens to commit a felony. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the homes of these people and watch the parents of these thugs raise them from infancy to young adult hood. Re-education camps are the only answer.
Hartz Cars Matter!
NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.
Like they don't go to the burbs and bring their mayhem.
Were they the ones who got caught stealing from Sak's with a stolen rental car?
Interesting that if they took them all at once, it had to be a good size convoy going into the city. Did they rent a party bus to get there?
No one saw a crowd of people in the lot waiting for keys? They had to be loud! Did they link up on Facebook live? How many of them ran out of gas? That was a lot of WORK!
With cameras everywhere, the shitheads have slowly figured out that it's not smart to use your own wheels in the commission of a crime.
There cars were in the auto pond they need the stolen cars to take there grandmother to church and the store
I'm still amazed they leave the keys or at least get a big/good heavy safe
OT. How is pilot swiping program working in 19?
What % of district is swiping ? Any breakdowns ?
Any habitually late Police Officers docked pay or disciplined ?
I’m not an advocate of aggressive, proactive police work anymore, but I won’t criticize anyone that still wants to be the police. If you make a legitimate stop, document it! Taking the extra few minutes and articulate exactly why you made the stop. If you are unable to do so, either you should not have made the stop in the first place, or you were never the police to begin with.
The loudest cry babies about ISRs are the officers that never did any proactive police work in the first place.

If they already found half the cars, the thieves aren't that good.
A good crew would already have the cars parted out, and the plates and VIN in Lake Michigan.
Simple, secure the vehicle keys much better.
Maybe COPA should be hunting their constituents
instead of hunting The Police?
>Pause<
Naaahhh...
The Police are the problem in Chicago
so they need "fixing" and what not.
Smile and wave at the COPA clients when
they whiz by in one of these sleds...
Maybe a COPA "administrator" and one/some
of their clients will be lucky enough to
have a fated encounter at an intersection?

Laughing.
And after a 3 line narrative

Leaving.

Inside job. An employee or former employee knew where to get those keys. If I broke into that office, I would probably have to waste a lot of time looking for where the keys are stored. Don't want to waste too much time in there, police might be responding...
I'm sure that Hertz office was forced to hire someone they otherwise wouldn't have for political expediency. Or maybe they wanted to "give someone a chance that he/she never had".
For your troubles, you get a broken front door and 15 stolen cars. Thanks for playing.
They just be funin.

Broad lawns, narrow minds - Historic Oaks Parks
I think they turned Shithole circa 1968, well before Evanston as far as liberal, tolerant, inclusive and diverse border towns are concerned.
They blamed a sluggish economy for the downfall.
Any hoot.
Here’s what’s in store for proactive 1st Watch traffic stop, courtesy of the CCSA:
That’s 7 or 8 “I got it from my cousin” (unknown).
Or dindu muffins got it from a “dude in the WestSide who knows my cousin” (unknown).
Or 7 or 8 juvenile releases (not including ride alongs, after 0300 hrs and no doe bell)
Can we bill Oak Park for any police service should we find that their feral crossed the border?
Stay Fetal.
worked on a case many years ago.....thugs using a rental out of O'Hare....rental company, after three days could not account for the rental, said that they had so many cars "out there" (rented, over stayed, stolen, etc.) they had no idea what vehicles were out there and who may have had them....
15 is a big number. How the heck did they get there Pace? Then of course felony review will say no charges keys in vehicle. I love it. Hopefully they total all 15. At $50k apiece that’s $750,000.00. Misdemeanor my ass!!!
Off topic. Look at news conference with Eddie Johnson , Fred and District Commander from 003 .
What an embarrassment she is , looks like a female bus driver , grabbed a sweater with gold star , no tie , sweater not zippered , wearin a gun?? No hat 🎩, she looks like she is lost , don’t call on me . A Police woman would be written up if they attended a press conference without a tie ,hat , unprofessional . Did Eddie or Fred write her up . This is what Merit does toa Police Department , ald. Sawyer doesn’t look to bright either , riding on Eugene’s coattails. Darn shame she will collect a six figure pension , can she spell her first merit rank ?
Someone post all her arrest, award history ? Could she pass a power test ? Merit , only the best get selected .
How about the 15th district? So they come up with openings on days. Those that didnt make it by bid magically make it by management. You all got some real winners in the group. TM and BS run it - EC III is just the figurehead. Work on the real important stuff - like new locks in the radio room and moving the reserved parking all around the lot. Maybe now that TM's spot is on the fence, no one will notice the lack of a city sticker on her car. A shout out to 2nd watch -- thanks for taking some of our problem children! - signed - 3rd watch.
Zero respect for life. How much do they respect property?🤔pppppffftttt. Joke

One possibility.
There are several other possibilities.
They are, after all, rental vehicles from a common vehicle rental company. A nation wide common vehicle rental company. Renting common vehicles.
The chop shop parts purpose is one possible reason for the theft of 15 of these common vehicles in a single incident.
Still, the recovery of some, not all, presents other possibilities.....
Why would ANY business want to operate in this shithole?

You may be onto something there. My nephew worked for Hertz, and "some" of the employees were on a mission to scam, steal and hustle in ways I wouldn't be able to think of. If a potential customer entered the store with his "friends", they'd most likely look to see where the key box was located and how it was secured. Other employees knew how to steal and scam from the cash register bu would only be fired after being caught. The company doesn't want any "discrimminashuuuun" suits.

Or, it might have been a big grey box mounted on the wall, secured with a luggage sized padlock, with the word "KEYS" written on it with black marker.

And if you get the answers to these questions in what way will your life be better? Get a life!
it had to be those OPRF kids damn it prove me wrong....
Just like the movie, " Gone in Sixty Seconds" !
Hey 1:38 pm Tony Bennett does not like the police. He also donated funds to and backed the release of police killer Mumia Abo Jamal the killer of Philly PO Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Numerous other Hollywood phonies also participated in donating funds and calling for his release.Bennett was on the Howard Stern show above a year ago downing the police. So save your money and buy something for your kids.
Chicago and the liberal Cook County suburbs have become like that episode of the old Batman TV show, where the Joker (or was it Penguin) becomes Commissioner of Gotham P.D., and wouldn't you know, the Gotham police are given orders to stand down and let crime get out of control, ignoring bank robberies and armed robberies while ticketing citizens for jaywalking or traffic.
It's literally that bad right now. Corrupt criminal politicians have regulated and scrutinized the Chicago police into near paralysis.
Then turned over to auntie or grandma at the jisc.
How many points for car theft now ?
Political correctness people, let these urban yutes do what they do. After all they are the victims. Never had no job, get the stupid check and link. Why change? Prickwrinkle and fox are decriminalizing black crime so no repercussions. No reason to change. This city and state is lost, time the burn it all down and start over. Politicians are the problem.
That Augusta and Austin job from years ago - the CPD guy pulled up shot an OPPD guy not the bad guy. Bad was taken out with a long gun from a 1/2 block away.
@4:49pm
Spot on....EC is a turd!!! Spotlight missions??? Great idea LOL. Let’s see how great his numerous fixed posts around the district work out in the summer...CLOWN!
The 15 cars were stolen over the course of about 2 hours, they grabbed some, drove out west and then went back to get the rest

Found your lovely self in between the morning shits and the after lunch jerk work?
Got bored with surfing for, say, furry porn, and thought...."Gee, let us ask an assinine series of queries on the copper blog!!!!!!"?
Or did ya just feel the urgent need to appear to be busy doing something, when the one person you find the most disgusting wandered by your cubicle and slyly implied you could join her/him/it in the men's/lady's/whatever's room, for a quickie?
Ask me No Questions and I'll tell you No Lies.......
All these rental cars have tracking devices, I rented from enterprise and forgot the mileage when checking g car back in, Clark said, dont worry, I cc'd an get it from computer.
You can’t chase them, and If you catch them it’ll be CTTV. They have electronic activation devices and hertz has keys in the car. They did it all last summer with full impunity. The standard for PSMV charges have become absurd
none of these companies likely carry theft insurance. they are probably self insured. much more cost effective. the reality is that now and then rental cars get stolen. it is unusual for 15 to get stolen at once but cars get stolen all the time.
one might think that the rental car companies would secure the keys a little better given that modern cars are a lot harder to steal without a key. But it probably has not been an issue in the past so they did not want to go to the bother or spend the money on better security for the keys.
incidentally, a lot of places have turned off their alarm systems because cities have been charging them for false alarms so they figure it is more cost effective not to pay for the false alarms.
it's not fair to blame the victims for this kind of thing.
it does seem likely there was some inside information here.

Now try to get someone from the car rental company to sign a complaint
4/02/2018 07:38:00 AM
Talk about a nice job, they used to have a guy that would come out anytime, anywhere to sign complaints. He would show up in court and write a letter of compliment to the superintendent too! They used to give out pens and calendars in court and at the station. Some companies would give a reward for finding and calling them with car info. A lot of off duty POs used to work security at their storage lots too. The last dealing that I had with them, they had to wait for thirty days after a rental agreement expired to report the vehicle stolen? Too many lawyers........

Best “hero” assertion I’ve read in a while. Can you show me how to be the real police with all your years of experience doing the job the right way? You’re talking to a lot of coppers that clearly haven’t risked their lives in the past for a load of bullshit like your badass has/does. Some people on this job just make me laugh hysterically and shake my head in disbelief. You are definitely one of them.

I thought “risking your life” was assumed when you took the job? It’s kind of the nature of police work. You are more suited for meter maid.

Read between the lines, genius. While you’re at it, look up sarcasm. Again, please impress me with your FP and proud announcement over the air demanding an RD For a 143a. I’m too scared to do that dangerous stuff...it has nothing to do with the fact that this job, the courts and our rights have devolved into a pointless joke. PS - I left some more sarcasm hidden in there. Maybe you can find it inbetween cracking your nonsense dope homicide caper...handjob
A the truth is stranger than fiction story. Some of your officers followed/ chased some hoodlums across the Austin Street end of Chicago boundary to Oak Park. Someone yelled hoodlums had just entered Oak Park and several people standing on Austin and Madison shooed them back across Austin and back into Chicago. I bet you can count the rise in crime from Chicago hoodlums on Oak Park citizens and businesses.
It's a new way that Hertz puts urban youth in the driver's seat.
So was it recorded as 1 auto theft or 12.
sometime in the late 70s a car hauling truck showed up at one of the airport rental locations in the middle of the night. the guard examined his paperwork which appeared authentic and the guy loaded up a truck full of cars and left. took the rental place almost a month to realize they had been ripped off.
Who cares about Hertz they think the NRA is the cause of the gun problem. Their car rental prices are no bargain anyway. ♠️
