Another Defensive Gun Use?
From a few days ago, but by golly, it sure seems like Chicago is out of control:
- An armed suburban man with a concealed-carry license intervened in a 3-on-1 beating and robbery in River North yesterday evening, according to a witness and police.
The victim was in the 700 block of North Clark around 8:30 p.m. when three offenders wearing white surgical masks attacked him and began taking his property, police said.
A passing motorist who saw the robbery unfold pulled over, unholstered his concealed firearm and intervened in the attack. The three offenders fled westbound on Chicago Avenue as the concealed-carry holder protected the victim, according to a witness.
The driver, who lives in Mt. Prospect, returned to his vehicle and drove away after stabilizing the situation, a witness reported.
The victim lost his phone to the robbers who were described as two black men and one black woman wearing surgical masks. One of the offenders wore a red jacket and the others wore dark clothing.

It wasn’t a robbery. Those three were doctors and they were conducting a phone-ectomy. Highly trained medical professionals.

The CCW holder is a hero who may have saved the victims life. Too bad the law didn't allow for the CCW carrier to shoot the assholes once they started running away. While they were no longer a threat to the victim, they'll be a threat at some time in the future to someone else.

These were medical professionals performing a life saving medical procedure. It seems the phone and wallet were giving the victim cancer. They had to remove them to save a life.
I am highly offended the description of the 3 victims (given it was probable a white male privilege being overly exercised plus the person is from mount prospect) was given. COPA contacted immediately lol--

Hey genius, you can only shoot someone if you reasonably believe if you or someone else is going to cause death or great bodily harm. The decision to shoot or not shoot is a very important decision. By you saying "too bad the law does not allow the ccw holder to shoot even though they were running away..." indicates to me that you want to be the judge, jury and executioner. As a police officer, I can not take the law in to my own hands and do as I please. Why should you be able to do so?
Go get your CCW permit. But carrying a gun is a huge responsibility. Don't take it lightly. Or you might have to wear an orange jump suit.

If, and that's a HUGE IF, you actually have a CCL & carry, whatever, YOU have got to ignore any and ALL situations of less than absolute clarity.
This means either:
You are certain you want to use your firearm to kill someone
Or
You are certain you need to use your firearm to prevent someone from killing you, and ONLY you.
Because, as you so clearly and emphatically stated, YOU know that ".....bad, bad things can happen...", AND you know that you are quite capable of causing those bad, bad things.
Just remember to not forget to remember that YOU have to be ABSOLUTELY certain you NEED to use your concealed firearm to KILL someone.
Otherwise, you might very well be the cause of a bad, bad thing happening.

Who the fuck said anything about a CC permit being involved? The guy could've simply been doing the right thing as was common in generations gone by.
Fat head Ed had the Gaul to say Death Wish movie a bad idea. Premise was right on someone taking law into their own hands because police "needed a bigger board". Good thing this citizen was not fetal.
I would call vigilantism street justice. Police are officially fetal and won't or can't do it, courts won't do it and jail is thing of the past for criminals so citizenry must take responsibility for third own and others safety. Technically, you can use deadly force just to prevent the robbery. I wouldn't do it, but the law says you can.

I'm not CCWing because I'm looking to go have a picnic. I agree, it's a serious responsibility. I guess my overall approach is, I don't want to be the guy who gets killed being robbed, and I ALSO don't want to helplessly stand by watching while someone ELSE is killed.
I call 911 anytime I see a potential crime or threat that doesn't meet the "great bodily harm" qualification. If I witness the potential for imminent, great bodily harm or death? The time for 911 is over, and if I think I can improve the outcome, I'm stepping in. Vigilante? Wannabe cop? Nah, just a guy who hopes for the best, expects the worst, and refuses to submit to murderous thugs.
I'm a civilian, but don't worry, I support the cops, and you can bet that I'm watching out for you as well, in whatever small but meaningful ways I can. I'll stay out of your way, and let's both hope that you never need my help. Meanwhile, I'm just the generic civilian walking by.

Ok.
Predict open carry in most of country in next 2-3 years. Of ours Illinois will nor follow suit and crime will be out of control. CCL will become the first line of defense, police good for filing reports of crime after the fact and maybe catching preps if you have enough information to help them out. But they will not be there when the crime is happening so your option is defending yourself or letting the criminal have his way with you or a loved one. Me, I will fight and protect property and loved ones.

I Don't teach large public CCL classes,I get paid well for very small discreet groups and individual training with a non disclosure agreement.. if you need that.
Take the wildest guess of who you would never think would be armed due to their profession/appearance/zip code and you would probably be correct. Two fun facts: (01) The ones who hold office/appointment and appear to be anti 2A are talking the talk with a firearm on their person. (02) A good amount of mental health care professionals seem to be more comfortable armed while analyzing this or that, they understand the evil that men do.
The blue collar guy with the pick-up truck is the only one who carries is a myth created by the media and the antis. I obviously have had the opportunity during 16 hours of training to get to know these students and they have the same opinion of the animal as you do, it doesn't play well with their peers or their job security so they keep a heavy amount of shade on their opinions.. and a Glock 43 in deep concealment !

You are confusing, albeit with great vigor, the enforcement of law and the application of one of Nature's intended reactions to peril.
The only teaching involved is an introduction to the subject of Death, a study in the Inevitable End of Life.
It's a brief course, taken by everyone, and all are assured of a passing grade.
So, you do the enforcing of law and Nature will either Flee or Fight, according to the requirements of circumstance.
Note that your chosen profession often impedes Nature's solution to the problem of peril.
Nature doesn't care about this impeding, because......it just doesn't care about anything.
Don't apologize for leaving descriptions...the BS media won't to protect the guilty so SOMEONE has to!
