- The Democratic pollster to whom Rahm Emanuel once famously sent a dead fish on Thursday delivered the political version of a dead fish to the mayor’s doorstep: a poll that, Alan Secrest claims, shows Emanuel is unelectable.
The poll of 800 registered and likely Chicago voters—with a 3.5 percent margin of error — was conducted Jan. 23-through-Feb. 1 for former Police Supt. Garry McCarthy. The limited results Secrest shared suggest why McCarthy jumped into the race against the mayor who fired him.
In a “one-on-one trial heat pairing,” Emanuel and McCarthy are in a “statistical tie,” Secrest said, refusing to reveal the specific numbers.
Emanuel and McCarthy were the only candidates to reach double-digits in a seven-way race that includes: former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas; County Commissioner Bridget Gainer; fired Chicago principal Troy LaRaviere, tech entrepreneur Neal Sales-Griffin and businessman Willie Wilson, the poll showed, according to Secrest.
Anyone know who Chewy Garcia is pushing into the race? Rumors of a female Hispanic being pushed by the "progressive" wing of the party. Rahm needs a few more major "identity politics" fractures in the party to finish in the top two.

You guys may not like him, your reasons may even be very well justified, but you need to accept the reality that Garry McCarthy is probably the only one with the combination of hubris, gravitas, and media skills to unseat an entrenched incumbent. He's your Donald Trump: a confirmed asshole and political walk-on who's not really on anyone's side but his own, whose mere presence will destabilize the local political machine. I don't live in Illinois anymore so it's not really my problem which of these two goofs gets the job, I'm merely pointing out that Chicago is not going to get magically saved in the nick of time by some super-perfect political messiah figure that comes riding in from the sunset at the end of the movie.

Long gone retired here, just an observation regarding the vastly understaffed CPD. Its the worst kept secret in the city. Those of you with time on the job ask yourself about how many citizen alerts went out to the public when you first came on the job. What's that say? To me it says you're on your own. It says this is what's going on and we don't have the man power to stop it. The bad guys know it better than most. The publicized 17% clearance rate on homicides, the number of retirements not offset by new hires, the diminishing tax base; and of course the misdirection of funds to put capital projects in minority neighborhoods as a way to stroke communities into thinking things are going to get better.
Anyone with half a brain cell can see the functionality of the newly constructed police stations in the city, with ceilings that leak, bathrooms that flood, etc to know its all bullshit. Throw the mass exodus of citizens leaving Chicago, causing a diminishing tax base and higher taxes for those that remain and you've got a perfect soup for continued mediocrity. And lets not forget the pandering and caving in on the part of the city to allow Citizens, BLM and the ACLU a say so into how the department is run.
Bottom line is this mayor has given the human assets of the city away. His city council has rubber stamped every frivolous lawsuit that comes into the Corporation counsel's office and in the process he's thrown the entire department under the bus. The tendency of this mayor to bring in outsiders that have no skin in the game to run things compounds all the other issues that plague the Department.
Anytime I run into some kid with an interest in becoming the police (surprisingly there are still some), I advise them to take the Fire Department test, its a better job, the benefits are the same if not better, and nobody really screws with you. That includes the mayor, the media and the citizens. That's how fucked up things are and continue to be.

If you watched the anti-gun demonstrations last weekend you may have noticed similarities with the Black Lives Matter and the Antifa demonstrations. That is because they are related. What we are seeing is a framework which has been in place for some time. This framework is staffed by organizers and professional agitators designed to organize people to protests. Professional agitators are in the background but they are the muscle. They take advantage of naive people, using emotion, misrepresentation of facts and groupthink; that doesn’t matter because naive people vote too. This is all funded by millionaires and billionaires with a political agenda that is designed to fractionalize and divide this nation by tearing away at our traditions, core beliefs and attack the Constitution of the United States. We are facing the radical left; they are vicious and are capable of anything. Their target is you, the individual gun owner, and the Second Amendment.
These tactics are not new. They have been used by left wing groups, whose numbers are small, but have been successful in overtaking the majority and seizing power in many countries around the world. One of their goals is to take firearms away from all of the citizens, but not themselves. These are troubling times.
All firearm owners need to stick together. Recently, we have seen some firearm owners willing to sell out their fellow firearm owners so they can keep their firearms; this is known as appeasing the alligator. Translated, this means you feed to the alligator all your friends and neighbors in order to keep the alligator happy. In the end, that only means you will be the last one eaten but, you will be eaten, never the less.
There are some gun owners who think “they will never take my gun.” The signs these people carry betray their true intentions. Signs like “Yes, we are here to take your guns” and “Ok, we will pry it from your cold dead hands.” There is no special dispensation for target shooters, hunters, collectors, those interested in self-defense, or anyone else - no exceptions.
On Tuesday, March 27, 2018, the New York Times carried an op-ed written by Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens, calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. This is another sure sign of where the American Leftists want to go. Stevens has pulled the mask off of the American Left and we can now see clearly what and who they are and where they want to go. Of course, the left is denying everything. Remember, what is unthinkable today can become law tomorrow.
Think for a moment: much of the rights delineated in the United States Constitution are worthless without the Second Amendment. I believe some of the millionaires and billionaires envision a cabal between themselves, a bureaucrat laden United States government and the left wing media. Individual freedom will be toast. An armed free people stand in their way. I know, I am not supposed to think such thoughts.
The number of FOID card holders and Concealed Carry Licensees increases every day. As of a week ago, there are about 2,276,586 FOID card holders and 285,900 Concealed Carry Licensees in Illinois. That means Illinois gun owners will go through 922,494,960 or more background checks this year. The crime rate among legal gun owners is so low it can’t be statistically measured.
The NRA has announced the first ever National F-Class Smallbore (.22LR) Championships, to be held in conjunction with the other Smallbore Championships, in Bristol Indiana. F-Class Smallbore is an up and coming competition for those who love precision shooting. F-Class Smallbore has been a part of the ISRA Thursday Night Smallbore League for the past two years. If you are interested, come out and join the ISRA Smallbore League. The league starts on May 17th!

The best chance to unseat tiny dancer is with a Van Dyke trial in January. 9.5 wants the trial sooner rather than later. Gaughan is feeling pressure from the politburo to get this trial going. All judges in crook county answer to their political overlords, just like the incompetent exempts on the CPD. The murder mayor knows that the voters have short memories and even the riots that will follow a Van Dyke acquittal this summer will be but a fleeting memory to most of them by March 2019. I hope and pray the Van Dyke legal team is able to postpone the trial unti mid winter. It is a win win for us all. But just in case, I have a summer furlough.

He only wanted the police around his school if he needed a report. LaRaviere acts like a ghetto rat but is beloved by all the snowflake parents in the Lakeview community where he will take votes away from Rahm.

McCarthy, despite being an asshole, has always polled higher in popularity ratings than Rahm. This has been true since 2011. If Rahm thinks he can beat McCarthy why doesn't he commission another poll at his own expense?
