Mayoral Field Filling Up
- Willie Wilson made his announcement Tuesday at Chicago State University. This is his second run for City Hall.
"Chicago is bleeding jobs, citizens and hope. The present administration doesn't know how to stop this but I do and will as the next mayor of our great city of Chicago," Wilson said in a press release.
- After talking for months about taking on Mayor Rahm Emanuel in next year’s election, former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas soon will make it clear he’s running, his election attorney said Wednesday.
Attorney Burt Odelson said he plans to file state paperwork Monday to set up a “Paul Vallas for Chicago” campaign committee. Vallas is “150 percent” committed to running, Odelson said.
“It’s full speed ahead,” he said.
So three white guys and a black guy. Rahm needs another black guy to siphon away options and a Hispanic to give him a better feel for how his "outreach" is fairing in the neighborhoods.

Vallas made it official, that he is in the race to win. And the Van Dyke trial is to be held this summer according to the presiding judge. Now, Rahm is in Big Political Trouble. Both Rahm and McCarthy are part of the suppression of the McDonald video. In fact, the suppression of the tape should be part of the trial. How could the City, if they really believed Van Dyke was anything other than a scapegoat, have allowed him to remain free and on the payroll for more than a year after the shooting? When the tape was released by court order, Van Dyke was suddenly shackled and "Perp Walked". YET MCCARTHY AND HIS ENTIRE COMMAND STAFF SAW THE TAPE WITHIN HOURS OF THE INCIDENT, AS HAD STATE'S ATTORNEY ALVAREZ. IN ADDITION, WHO ORDERED THE VIDEO TO BE SUPPRESSED? DOES ANYONE REALLY BELIEVE IT WAS SUPPRESSED WITHOUT RAHM KNOWING WHAT WAS ON IT? Of course Vallas, is not without sin, since he was part of the "Richard Da Lesser's" rein. And as Supt. of Chicago Public Schools he failed to stop the current pension disaster. Yet, is there still anyone out there who thinks Mumbles Daley was worse than Rahm? Now can Vallas raise the money that Rahm raises? Or does Vallas really need to spend that much to win? No Mayor in the last 50 years has caused the degree of divisiveness produced by Rahm. Harold Washington may have pissed off some Whites, but the hatred of Rahm crosses racial, religious and economic lines like nothing ever seen before. People really detest the lil guy's arrogance and disrespect for True Chicago Values. And at this point, what could Rahm do to turn public opinion in his favor? Ohare and his Big Ticket projects have been followed by the biggest tax hikes in the history of the City. And the profits go to Suburban Contractors and workers. What national Democrat Party figure is going to stump for da Lil guy? Nobody at the national level will even take a photograph with Rahm! Hopefully, we are about to witness the end of Rahm's Political dreams! TD 9.5, GMAC, Vallas and Willie Wilson are all announced, but there are two other announced candidates and both are African-American.
One of the two is Troy La Raviere, head of the Chicago principal's association. He says he's running for Chicago mayor.
The other announced African-American candidate is Neal Sales-Griffin, adjunct professor at Northwestern University's Farley Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and CEO of CodeNow (sic), a non-profit where people can learn how to code, design, and ship web apps.
And, it is rumored that Ra Joy, who ran with Chris Kennedy in the Illinois governor's race, is going to announce soon.
Willie Wilson, Troy La Ravere and Neal Sales-Griffin are all announced and adding Ra Joy to the list, we will have a minimum of four male African-Americans in the race.
Chuey is busy elsewhere with taking the place of Lil Luis. Who might emerge from the Hispanic/Latino/Puerto Rican/Mexican communities and take a shot at it? Also, a woman or women might feel it is time because it has been 35 years since a woman was our mayor.
The race seems to be heating up! It is getting interesting!
I'm waiting for the Asian transgender candidate....

A doctor of what? Oh yes,"he refers to himself in printed and campaign literature as "Dr. Willie Wilson." That's based on a handful of "honorary doctorate" degrees bestowed by religious organizations." He certainly doesn't sound educated. "If I closed down 50 schools in any neighborhood, you should probably just put me in a mental ill house." Did you read his answers to the questions asked by the Tribune from 2015? Remember his famous "To the whiteys, I'm letting you know, I ain't prejudiced." First he denied saying it, then said he was misunderstood because of his accent/drawl. He later acknowledged saying it and apologized while denying he had any racist attitudes or beliefs. I wonder how it would go over if a white candidate had said something similar. He was also quoted as saying he gave 40k a month to homeless people and in tips. Do you recall he wanted to take officers out of patrol cars and making them travel by CTA trains and buses, to improve community relations. And he said he didn't think the city needed more cops overall but needed more minority officers. Oh yes, he would be wonderful as mayor. Wasn't he given a McDonald's franchise by Ray Kroc. Quite a nice gift.

For those of you that don't remember, Chicagos' Mayoral Election is non-partison and the winner is required to have over 50% of the vote otherwise a runoff occurs between the two top vote getters. Multiple candidates are not neccessarily a bad thing if we want to get rid of that crook Rahm. He won't get 50% in the 1st election with numerous others in the race but its a pretty safe bet he'd make it to a runoff, but this gives more opportunity for whoever faces him to hopefully consolidate all the other candidates supporters to beat up on Rahm and hopefully come out ahead in the runoff.

They're not attacking each other, and instead, focussing on the clown midget who drives around in three SUVs with a gaggle of bodyguards. They need to get Laraviere on board with this, as he can certainly attack Rahm on education and all of the BS initiatives (translation $ signs in the form of contracts to donors) that Rahm has tried to implement in CPS. Laraviere was also fired by Rahm for having the balls to speak out against things like the Aramark contract and the SUPES scandal. Doesn't stand a chance, but he served in the military and is a good guy.

CHICAGO (CBS) — CBS 2 has learned about a power play in the race for Chicago mayor.
Three candidates focusing their fire on one target: current Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
CBS 2 political reporter Derrick Blakley explains.
With a simple tweet, Paul Vallas announced he was running for Chicago mayor.
But Vallas, businessman Willie Wilson and former Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy have already had discussions in concentrating their fire on Mayor Emanuel.
“The bottom line is we agreed that we are going to run a professional policy-based discussion campaign,” says McCarthy. “Not the attack ads that we see from Emanuel.
“We’re not going to be cutting up one another,” says Wilson. “The target is Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Wilson invited Vallas to his high-rise penthouse home.
“We have to have an open dialog and conversation,” says Wilson.
And he met McCarthy here twice. The second time so that 25 ministers can hear McCarthy’s side of the Laquan McDonald story.

“I think we’re in unusual circumstances and in unusual times here in Chicago,” says McCarthy. “I told them that a cover-up happened in City Hall.”
Unusual cooperation among competitors aimed at isolating Mayor Emanuel.
“Anything that it takes to get him out,” says Wilson. “I want him out.”
“We want what’s best for Chicago. And I don’t think you can say that about the mayor,” says McCarthy. “He’s a man who makes decisions based on what’s best for himself.”
Vallas is expected to officially announce his entry in the race next week.

Everyone keeps forgetting that in Chicago, the police superintendent is an at will employee of the mayor. Everybody attacks McCarty for toeing Rahm's line. But the guys that scream the loudest are the same guys that will cut each other's throat for the desired beat, car, start time, partner,day, or overtime initiative.
If these guys were offered 260k to do the mayor's bidding, they would take it in a heartbeat.

News flash. The first person to declare was a Black American back on January 16, 2018. Troy LaRaviere, a former Chicago Public Schools principal and longtime mayoral critic, has launched a campaign fundraising website to challenge Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
LaRaviere is head of the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association, which advocates for CPS school leaders. He hasn’t previously held public office but campaigned in 2015 for Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia as Garcia tried to oust Emanuel. CPS fired him in 2016 from the top-rated Blaine Elementary School in Lake View, chiding him for using his office to do political work.
He is the first candidate to officially declare he’s in the race.
