Many More Billions There

Somehow, promised health care for retirees and widows is cut off. But for a shitload of connected contracts?
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s $8.5 billion O’Hare Airport expansion plan — and the $4 billion borrowing needed to get it started — are now cleared for take-off at Wednesday’s City Council meeting.

There’s nothing a Chicago mayor loves more heading into a difficult re-election campaign than to have a massive public works project under way that provides thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in contracts to dole out to allies and campaign contributors.

Emanuel will have that marquee project, thanks to Monday’s vote by the City Council’s Finance Committee.

Aldermen authorized $4 billion in so-called “general airport revenue bonds and passenger facility charge bonds” retired by the increased landing fees and terminal rents baked into new airline lease agreements. South Side Ald. Leslie Hairston (5th) cast the only “no” vote because she’s holding out for a list of minority law firms tied to the deal.
At least Hairston isn't shy about why she's selling her vote - gotta keep those connected campaign contributions flowing. We can't believe there isn't at least one federal law violation taking place with all this "free money" floating around.

Rahm just opened up his re-election campaign with a 8.5 billion dollar campaign fund. What's interesting is, he is realigning with new forces like Toni Preckwinkle, with whom he was once bickering. The Alderman gave it their vote, because they saw with Berrios and Burke's brother that the machine is falling. So, united they now stand, instead of being divided and falling.

Rahm doesn't deserve anyone's vote next year, and most of the alderman don't, either.

This city is in so much debt and Rahm is borrowing another $ 4,000,000,000.00. I wonder what the interest on that will he. Pretty soon the politicians will have to confiscate our pensions and savings to pay for all this. Is this something we need. Rahm has a spending problem with other people's money.

No insurance. This is because the powers on the 5th floor and all 50 little offices there don't give two shits about the retirees or their families. They have made sure that they will be taken care of. Keeping us away from insurance (Note this is all city employees) also means that many of us will work longer cause we can't pay the premium. Also remember how much is saved in pension payments cause an employee of the city will work an extra year or more. Anyone that thinks they care about you better wake the f-ck up.

i read some report where 5% of all major construction projects costs are referred to in the industry as the "corruption tax". 5% of costs go back to politicians in the form of political contributions from the construction companies that get the contracts.

This city and county have soaked the entire state in the toxic juice of debt. Huge debt.

Thus, those capable of doing 3D politics have no interest in us.

Those capable of doing 2D politics are juggling this toxic debt, squeezing gain for themselves as much as they can.

Since 1D politics is still all that is needed, here in the source of most toxicities, we enjoy the typical 1D political doings, effectively fucking ourselves with our own fists.

No 3D capables are going to venture here, not until the toxicity fades sufficiently to produce bargain basement opportunities.

The 2D players, having sucked every possible nickle, from juggling toxic debt, will no longer have either the interest, or the capability, to out manuever the 3D players. They'll be gone and on their way to Bali....

What of the taxpayers? They be the fuel. When the fuel is exhausted, so what?

We’ve heard it for decades, O’Hare is an “economic engine” for Chicago.
If it’s doing that well, why the fcck are they borrowing???
Rahm made it sound like this new terminal expansion was all on the airlines.
Where the frig is our return on this investment?
Where’s the money going?

One thing is sure is that O’Hare is required and does contribute to Police/Fire pensions...for those that are assigned there.
Could be for all city employees there as well.

If ever there the DOJ-FBI had some spare time and needed something to do, it would have to be an audit of the O’Hare books (besides Cook Co Board and City Hall).
Shortshanks started this Ohare financial fiasco and Rahm found how lucrative it is.
Never ending construction and rehab.
When they finish one project, the start another and rebuild something they built 10 years prior.

Northwest siders from Wards 39, 41, 45 - those along Lawrence north to Touhy are going to be in for a very loud awakening in about two years when this unnecessary Ohare Modernization is nearly completed (never ends).
Besides increased taxes, there will be an huge influx of aircraft traffic day and night when these 3 NW side runways are in full operation.

The Democrats, like idiotic Mike Quigley have done nothing to prepare residents or to quiet the air traffic by requiring airlines to utilize quieter engine mufflers on the aircraft.
They did after years of waiting, install toxic Chinese windows into a few homes by sloppy low-bid contractors.
Too little too late.

The racial composition of Chicago (based on the results of the 2010 census) is 45% White (31.7% non-Hispanic White), 32.9% Black, 5.5% Asian, 2.7% from two or more races, 0.5% American Indian. In addition, 13.4% are from another race. For comparison, the population of Illinois as a whole is 71.5% White and 14.5% black.

Strangely when they first hatched this "scheme" rahm announced "no tax money will have to be used" as the rest the 50 chimed in "yes master" now we are looking at billions gone! Rahm you have to pay the bills due first before you force others to pay new bills that is how budgeting is done right rahm, super rich Wilmette kid? So rahm you still have not funded the police pension and you "shorted" us this year as you said you did not have enough money right? Here is an example of a short squeeze which is what rahm is obviously doing:
For a real-world example of a short-squeeze, look no further than Super Bowl XLIX. Last year, middlemen sold Super Bowl tickets that they did not yet own at rich mark-ups (say, $10,000 a seat) in a bet that they could buy the tickets for less later (maybe $5,000) send them to customers, and pocket the difference. That bet failed. Contrary to usual price action, Super Bowl tickers climbed before the Big Game instead of falling, and the shorts got squeezed.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
In simple terams rahm is borrowing millions believing he will have the revenue to pay back the loans, but since we all know what will happen they will give rahm the money in funds and buy them back for less than half!

THIS is a priority to you?

Focus on and direct your attention and efforts to things that actually matter like healthcare, pension obligations, respectable increases in wages and most importantly... protections in disciplinary issues. Since you haven't been paying attention to the big picture, allow me to tell you that The Police are on the Endangered Species list and those gunning for us have no tag limit.

I can only imagine your outrage had you been there when that rear lot was gravel and resembled the surface of the moon. Oh, the horrors!!! We also needed a parking placard to access the garage for parking our personal vehicles, and they were only available on a first come, first served basis. Otherwise you parked on the street and waited for openings due to transfers, retirements, etc. I can only imagine how much you Snowflakes would melt over that type of travesty.

>>>Aldermen authorized $4 billion in so-called “general airport revenue bonds and passenger facility charge bonds” <<

Last week I landed at O'Hare on a Boeing 737. The flight was fairly smooth but taxiing down the runway was the bumpiest ride I've had since I rode in an ATV. I thought this has got to damage this aircraft. I also thought, Welcome back to Chicago, Land of Potholes.

The runways need repair, right after we get our retiree medical back.

Did you vote in the primary?

Blue states are far more likely to lose money and power over Census citizenship question

https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/27/politics/blue-states-lose-citizenship-question-census/index.html

Hmm:
According to 2016 American Community Survey, there are 13 million non-citizens living in states (and Washington DC) won by Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016. There are only about 9.5 million non-citizens living in states won by Republican Donald Trump. In other words, about 58% of non-citizens live in Clinton states and 42% live in Trump states.

** the big question is rahm are you ready? The best thing that can happen is for the feds to finally come here as promised by Trump to drain our dirty swamp at city hall, county building, state house, the forgotten men and women still are forgotten in this God forsaken corrupt state-city-county!
