Guy is too busy baking cakes at his bakery while on duty and scheduling shifts for his security company. If someone is undeserving of promotion, it's this guy. Always giving smug looks in the hallways and making racist remarks. Surprised a beef hasn't been put on him yet.

You did, however, touch on the bigger problem - when the City originally won the right to make merit promotions, one of the reasons, they argued in court, was to increase diversity. Yet they didn’t use these two merit spots for diversity among the nine. Ed, you have lost credibility within the Department, and it’s starting to erode outside. Remember, the latter is all that’s keeping you in your job (and your wife out of jail).

Ask any Merit Nominator about how well they know their choice.
All they know is who Nominated them to be in a position to nominate.
Ask any 20 or 30%Merit and they’ll tell you they earned that spot.
Prove it.
If there’s going to be Merit spots allocated, shouldn’t there be some background made available to those who were bypassed?
Just put it out there, substantiate that Merit position so there’s no conflict of personalities with the subordinates.
Seems a little respect here could go a long way.
Unless of course your shipped of back to your Merit Unit and not Patrol.
Piece meal promotions and hiring, at the right time over the next 10 months will make it look like Rahm is on the ball.

Lamon Reccord was TVB'd in 005 yesterday 23MAR18. He was I-bonded and came back to grab his car which was awaiting impound and had a orange sticker on it. A couple PO's saw this and approached. Tried to arrest him and he began to struggle with officers. They lock him up and big Ed called the WOL and said to let him go now! He was RWOC. CB#019619680. I didn't read the arrest report because I wasn't sure if they look at who reads it.
I forgot to mention on Lamon Reccord. At roll call today 24MAR18, the arresting officers asked what happened with it and the WOL and SGT said to drop it and forget about it.
Who ever brought up msf should be slapped right now. Nothing great came out of that unit.

I beg to differ. I'm looking at retirement in 15 months and I've spent my entire career in a district and I wouldn't change a thing.
I've had several offers to move as a P.O. and again as a Sgt, but decided to stay put.
I've met some phenomenal police officers and even better people. Many will be lifelong friends.
This job is what you make of it.

Taking the list down prematurely will allow the Department (NOBLE) to compromise the next exam and have a new group of cheaters. The Sgts demanding this list to be taken down most likely ranked greater than 200. Too bad, so sad, study harder next time. The next exam will be administered some time after the mayoral election. The murder mayor does not want any more controversy (lawsuits, scandals) than he already has. This list has plenty of life left. If they announce an exam in the fall of 2019, they won't have a viable list for 9 months to a year after, barring lawsuits. Remember, a list is not dead until there is a new list and they start promoting from it. The Dept is trying to maintain full staffing of Lts which is about 270 going into the summer killing season. Which is why this class was so small. The next class will be in the fall. Good luck and be careful.

You did, however, touch on the bigger problem - when the City originally won the right to make merit promotions, one of the reasons, they argued in court, was to increase diversity. Yet they didn’t use these two merit spots for diversity among the nine. Ed, you have lost credibility within the Department, and it’s starting to erode outside. Remember, the latter is all that’s keeping you in your job (and your wife out of jail).

You think the bigger problem is that the list isn't "diverse" enough? You're a moron. Forced diversity, affirmative action, etc. is not, has never been, and never will be the right way to do things. The color of your skin has nothing to do with your ability or qualifications to do a particular job. Being of a certain NOBLE color did seem to play a big part in who got promoted "off the list" this time around though. The whole "investigation" turned up nothing because of "diversity" reasons. They just couldn't have an actual investigation that would've revealed that every NOBLE person on the list was a cheater. So, in the corrupt Chicago way, they pretended to find no evidence of the cheating that everyone knew happened. Completely ridiculous. We just had to have a certain number of black lieutenants, and allowing them to cheat was the only way they'd get made. They thought they would skate right in because it looked legit with them not being merit picks. They were dead wrong once the cheating became common knowledge. Now it all looks much worse. But they just don't care. Their people made it in, and that's all that matters to them. All in the name of "diversity."

He's settled into 014, and no new beefs from the people he works with, so they'll put him right back in 014 on days, and send McDermott to be captain somewhere.

Dave Showers and Landon Wade are two guys who have only worked hard in their respective careers (Showers as a member of the old A/2 Gun & Gang Team, Wade during his years as a narc in OCD), and to my knowledge have never hurt anyone during their time as sgts. If anything, you should all wish them well and hope that as they climb the ranks they remain what people who have worked with them over the years have always known them to be, above average officers who always give 100% out there every day, and who would never ask anyone to perform any duty they would not do themselves.

Many guys who are vets on this job who can let the military part not consume every second of their job and life are great guys. The "couple" had a overt relationship for over two years. GB was familiar with her children as he was a frequent visitor to her home. Believe me, she was complicit in this affair. Dave Showers and Landon Wade are two guys who have only worked hard in their respective careers (Showers as a member of the old A/2 Gun & Gang Team, Wade during his years as a narc in OCD), and to my knowledge have never hurt anyone during their time as sgts. If anything, you should all wish them well and hope that as they climb the ranks they remain what people who have worked with them over the years have always known them to be, above average officers who always give 100% out there every day, and who would never ask anyone to perform any duty they would not do themselves

Whatever they may have done in narcotics got them made merit sgt, neither did anything to merit another promotion whatsoever, other than being the right demographic. DS has many open beefs, how does one get another merit bump with open beefs? I thought IAD vetted the list before the class is announced? Supe care to respond or look into it?
GB was arrested & charged with a felony when he sexually assaulted a private citizen while he was on duty.
They paid the victim tall cash to go away and she did.
Legit case. He's a creep.

The family (his mother a now retired Deputy Chief) paid off the victim through an attorney approximately $100,000 to make the case go away.
The city (us taxpayers) paid the victim around $10,000.

Little bald weasel of a Sgt in 008 thought he was supposed to make this list because he was ranked 10. So glad to see they cut it off at 9 and deny him the opportunity for a promotion. Guy is too busy baking cakes at his bakery while on duty and scheduling shifts for his security company. If someone is undeserving of promotion, it's this guy. Always giving smug looks in the hallways and making racist remarks. Surprised a beef hasn't been put on him yet.

Ha, AK is one of the biggest weirdos in the D unit. Thinks he is God’s gift. Loves touting his medals and talking about when he went to SOS. Don’t forge sport, you are not part of SOS. You went to SOS pos scandal breaking when there was a mass exudes. They threw GPS on all the cars then they had a ton of openings begging absolutely anyone to come over. When you came to SOS nobody did a thing becUse of the scandal and everyone good had left. Those that stayed did zero. Stop trying to wow people like you were a super cop and old school because you were in sos... when you went it was a glorified saturation team that produced less activity.. then we got disbanded. Then you went to MSF with all the little kids on the job and got dopw, one baggers on the West Side and nonsense arrests.
