Anyone else getting the feeling that Rahm gave a free stadium to the wrong Catholic University?

I haven’t watched basketball in years but I’ve watched these guys. Keep it rolling, Loyola!

Obviously, the new stadium should go to a Jesuit university--MARQUETTE.

Roll, Ramblers, Roll!

Kansas State Saturday night for the Final Four. God bless Sister Jean!

The wolf in the Rambler icon is based on the official Loyola logo: a kettle flanked by two wolves.

Loyola has their own gym that they built with their own money on their own campus. Rahm gave $70 million for DePaul to build a gym 6.5 miles from its campus even though a nice site was available less than 5 blocks away. Hmmm...Sterling Bay, Rahm’s Private developer of choice gets Finkl and the yard behind Home Depot for a song...

And you will vote for Rahm why?

Uh ya. DePaul doesn’t even do education properly anymore. Their job placement and avg starting salaries for post grads are lower than Arizona State.

It wasn't Free. Somewhere, and or somehow, taxpayers will pay big time. And by the way, what happened with the Liberal Progressive, separation of Church and State concept that they keep pushing, especially, when it comes to the issue of abortion? Politics and Greed make for amazingly strange bedfellows. Baby "G"

Most likely the “right” palms wouldn’t have been “greased” if he gave a “free” stadium to Loyola as opposed to DePaul.
Rotten to the core Chicago politics at work.

It is my understanding that The United Center offered to let DePaul pay for essentially free. They woulda made out on parking and concessions, with DePaul keeping ticket revenue. Something stinks here.

Hey Baby Gump,

Although we agree and the City should have never paid a catholic school anything, it isn't some Liberal Progressive concept. It's constitutional. Look up Everson v. Board of Education for starters.

And sadly, they aren't kept separate quite enough.

Spot on. DePaul b-ball has very little interest by the current student body. No school spirt there basically. I was told this recently by 2 seniors there.

Loyola got their arena the old fashioned way. A wealthy alum put some money on the table. OK, a wealthy alum put a lot of money on the table. Not only that but the arena is on Loyola's campus, easily accessible to students. Ah, private enterprise. Go Ramblers!

Rahm still has the ability to build one and a overhead tram to get to it.
How to use eminent domain to land grab or how to condemn a shack that sits in a viable area.
Fortunately Loyola has their own property.
Their newer arena hold about 4500, Rahm will offer up tax dollars to double the size with his team of contractors.
Much depends on how many votes and how much the subcontractor contributes by the end of 2018.

Where does Loyola play their home games?

UIC?

It does seem now that Macher Mayor Emanuel's main power is to give huge free property gifts to special interest groups.

Rahm just gave around ~ $100 million to the Obama foundation giving away my backyard of Jackson Park.

Actually, DePaul dropped over $80M on the "free" arena. Someone got rich off the deal, but it's not the taxpayers or DPU students.

Congratulations to the Loyola Ramblers! Keep on believing that you can beat any one.
Oh please don't remind me of the unnecessary expense of a stadium for DePaul.
What return does Chicago get on its money after giving DePaul a brand new stadium?
Was DePaul going to leave Chicago? Hardly!

The constitution has nothing to do with the funding of a public stadium in which a church related school can play. I went to DePaul, every faith is welcome there and there are no mandatory religion classes. Nice try

Fr. Flaky fleiger is an alum too but their "notable alums do not list him under the religious banner they list him as an activist. Don't tell the goofy Cardinal who walked into Holy Name with his hands up in protest of the police someone jay falsely call him a man of the cloth too.

That Catholic School Bone appears to be "Sensitive" for some of YOU obviously devout as they say in Mt. Greenwood, "Katlicks". But the Reality is that De Paul is a Catholic School, not a Public School. Though religion is not a required class, it is still a Catholic school, and should not receive public funding any more that the Latin School or Francis Parker, The French School or the British School. Somebody cut a hell of a deal and made a profit at our expense. Baby "G"

What Chicago needs is a Curling team. Maybe even some type of league - but we need a stadium for it first. The Chicago Curling Stadium. That is what the city is lacking.

We need a Curling championship team, otherwise we are a second-rate city and not attracting all that tourism money from Curling championships.

That will be the next "we need this" scenario.

Pass Rahm a broom - or whatever they call that thing they sweep the ice with. He is good at sweeping real priorities under the rug.

Rahm built that stadium so his ahole thief brother can have a place for acts . That’s the Reason. Rahm has allowed his brother and his donors C3 to destroy this city for weeks with the Lolla dope head jerk bag clowns. Screwed up driving, cops abused. For what... only to make Rahm and his donors money.
