Anyone else notice the uptick in shootings the past two days? Almost like the weather had something to do with it? And guess who isn't caring who gets in the way of the bullets?
- A blind man was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting Tuesday night on the West Side.
Chicago police said the 50-year-old victim was standing on the corner in the 3800-block of West Roosevelt Road at about 9:30 p.m. A vehicle approached and police said someone inside fired shots, hitting the victim in the back.
A blind guy. That's not even fair. He can't see where the bullets are coming from.

- A 16-year-old boy shot in the Austin neighborhood Wednesday afternoon has died, officials said.
The shooting happened in the 4800 block of West Monroe Street around 2:30 p.m., police said.
The boy was pronounced dead on the scene and taken to Loretto Hospital, according to police and Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Merritt.
Blind guys. Juveniles. Next thing you know we're going to have 30 and 40 people shot in a weekend.

A blind guy can hear the vehicle pull up and identify it by the sounds of it's engine, tires and radio/ocupants. Sense the irregularity of it's speed to other traffic and susspect trouble. Most of all, he is not distracted by a smartphone.
My money is on the blind guy, which is why I don't bet.

What do citizens look for to be on guard:
A witness told officers that a male passenger got out of the car and ran away after the stabbing.
And pertinent details:The dark sedan was parked on the street in front of an apartment building, surrounded by crime scene tape. The headlights were lit.

Been going on forever. I remember in 011 after working midnight nights having to shovel my car out of the snow on the second level of the garage only to see the secretary pull in late to her covered parking spot

4800 W Monroe, a half block west of the 2 flat my mom grew up in, and where I visited my grandparents all the time until they had to move in the late 60s.
It was a nice neighborhood back then, never forget the Sky Hi Drive-In located on Cicero, facing west down Monroe. It was an old DC-4 fuselage converted to a restaurant, with faux wings. As a kid it always looked like that sucker was about to start its takeoff roll down the street toward me.
The guy who opened the restaurant had a great idea, unfortunately he didn't realize the changing demographics of the neighborhood would be the end of his business in a few short years.
