Well, if Shennanigan Shelly were to have suggested firing off a volley of well aimed shots, that would be some interesting advice to be given.......especially since a pack of a dozen brazen knuckleheads would be extremely reasonable to induce a fear of death in even someone walking a few dogs...........

Wow. That shit used to send me running but not anymore. Not to mention it is a crime. One of the funniest arrests was a female PO locked up a female who admitted to calling a man with a gun during a bullshit domestic, which we verified as false and offender admitted to it. Don’t worry, she was also the aggressor. Found the dude hiding under a porch. Not to mention certain objects can be mistaken for a gun. Glad things worked out the way they did. There’s no point to even participate in this stupidity anymore.
The 911 system is broken, there's no question about that.
Maybe the city should just be honest with the taxpayers and tell them not to tie up the 911 system reporting property crime. Lock your doors and don't have anything worth stealing in your car or on your person. If you have nothing worth taking you won't get robbed.
As far as false reporting to expedite arrival, why not.... there's no penalty likely to be applied.

Call can come in whatever it wants, be it shots fired, baby being born or jesus resurrected and is passing 1mil$ to the first 2 people on scene. It don’t matter. Stop at every stop sign, obey all traffic law, DRIVE SAFE and good luck all.
That type of call is classified as a SUSPER (suspicious person). 1A priority with a 10 minute dispatch time and in that area I can almost 100% guarantee you it was dispatched in 10 minutes. What time of the day was it? How many units were assigned to Safe Passage? Was there a unit relieving the Mayor's Detail? Down another car. Agree with previous posted about all the non emergencies that 911 handles. The 911 system is not broken. Generally, in most districts there are simply not enough Beat cars to handle the jobs. Not to mention how big 019 is now. Maybe they had to send someone from clear across the district. Who knows. However, I often wonder why more people aren't arrested for calling in false shots fired to make the police response faster.
Next step is armed neighborhood parttrols. If police can't or won't then it's time to take matters into own hands. Sorry but if you want safe streets your going to have police them yourselves. CPD is now fetal.

911 dispatches according to cpd policy. If anything is screwed up, it's the lack of police to respond to the calls. People who say this type of thing don't know how the system works. Go work there, then you can complain.

The point is that make false calls to 911 is a crime. If this person is a lawyer/public defender then she is an officer of the court and required to uphold the law and act appropriately. It would appropriate for the FOP to ask ARDC to open an investigation as to wether or not she A. Made the statement and B. Is a lawyer? If so she should be held accountable.
We all know if this was a policeman making comments about breaking the law or CPD policy they would be deported and a CR would be open immediately.

I worked 011 one night and all these kiddie cops were going 100 mph to every bullshit call and foot chase that came out on the radio. So a unit rolls up to a group of punks, after hearing "shots fired" and one of the punks decides to film it and maybe become a revrund's flavor of the week. He whips out cell phone, in the dark, and charges the unit. Is Shelley gonna testify to COPA for the officer who ventilates the punk?

I remember the “ole” I think he may have a weapon in a domestic. I also remember the “ole” I was robbed after cashing my check. “ they” took my rent money and could I get a report. I have been hung up on, yelled at and have very little confidence that what I report actually gets relayed properly to the police. I have been lucky enough not to have been in a life or death situation, but if I saw one that was trending that way I would do whatever is necessary to get police to my location quickly.
OEMC is shit. Most of them don’t give a fuck about the police or the ligimate victims. All they want is a beat to assign to an event number and a code. Has been shit since the disbanded COS.

From Harlem to Cumberland, Irving south to Belmont is still a decent neighborhood but it’s changing fast. I get staying fetal in shitty districts, but in 016? Especially 31’s beat or up north in EP, Norwood, etc? How about protecting the home front and getting 016 more fucking manpower. We need to lookout for each other cause no one else will.

I have filed one and yes they will take it seriously and at least investigate . Mine is still ongoing waiting for a final determination. Will keep everyone updated once it’s complete.

If your concept here is what it appears to be, as in, groups, of whatever size, either walking or driving their neighborhood, armed with firearms and thoroughly visible to any who look, it's quite a retarded concept, whether those firearms are visible or not.
If your concept includes even the tiniest thought of being sanctioned by city authorities, ditto on the retarded.
If your concept is the addition of paid by neighbors armed security guards, prepare for the extra, and substantial, costs of bribing said authorities to sanction this, insuring said security contractors against liabilities which will likely arise and dissatisfaction lawsuits from neighbors who find armed security roaming the neighborhood more than a bit displeasing.
Now, if your concept were to be:

It is possible for a neighborhood to maintain a significant consistency of a civilized nature more reliable than merely calling 911 whenever shit intrudes upon civilized daily, and nightly, affairs.
The committment of time, effort, and the nature of the neccessities of honor, trust and dedication are unlikely to be found, in sufficient percentage, within any neighborhood of greater area than less than a square city block.

No help, no clout, no pull. Same as MANY of my co workers. Shame on you for saying that we don't care. I have family and friends that are the police and I go to work and do the very best I can to ensure they all go home safely to their families. Are there some people that feel the same way citizens do about the police? Sure, but it is far from the majority. We take so my calls that are not emergencies but require police dispatch and they tie up the phones and the LIMITED resources i.e. Beat cars that we have to send. 311 sends us more. They disabled the school unit , yet there are multiple Beat cars tied up at Safe Passage every day. Districts consistently have 4,5 and I've seen up to 7 beat cars down on a tour. 7 beat cars??? This pos tells someone to lie to 911 and somehow it's taken as yet another opportunity to bash OEMC. It's National Public Safety Telecommunicators week. Recognition is the last thing 99% of us were after when we took this job but seriously? Go troll on someone else.
