Slash Transit
- A Chicago man who allegedly slashed a woman in the face with a knife at a CTA bus stop was ordered held without bail Saturday. Deandre Cavaness, 36, was charged after the stabbing, which happened Thursday about 9 p.m. in the 300 block of North Central Avenue.
Cavaness approached the woman at a bus stop and slashed her across the left side of the face, prosecutors said in court. The victim, a 54-year-old woman, suffered a deep gash to her left cheek and jaw, and had to be hospitalized, police said.
It’s not clear what prompted the incident.
And not a single citizen permitted to carry a gun nor a cop in sight

There might not have been a cop in sight, but there are 3 or 400 cops assigned to 015, aren't there? The district is the size of a postage stamp and has probably as much manpower as 016 & 017 combined. I haven't checked the numbers exactly, but the manpower is probably very close to accurate.
Anyone on CTA who is law abiding is an easy target. That's because you can't carry any weapons.
It’s not clear what prompted the attack. Well, some crazy bastard, probably a career criminal, slashed an innocent woman with a knife. His being on the street is what prompted the attack. It’s like when the media reports on some victim getting pummeled and they say “ the incident happened after some sort of an argument “. Makes it sound like maybe the victim started it. The argument may have been, “ get away from me. I don’t want to be beaten or robbed”. Such liberal speak bs.
The mayor of londonistan has proposed knife control measures. No kidding.
He also wants to expand police powers of stop and frisk.
The solution in Chicago is simple, reopen insane asylums.

By all means carry a gun on the CTA. Fifty years ago I was an operating employee on the CTA and I carried. It saved my ass when a group of Amish surrounded me on the south side. When I took it out they all backed off and ran, now you would be in a gun fight. It was bad then but much worse now. The CTA would fire you if they found out. But it is better to be fired and still be alive. And of course I would never ride the CTA now, I had enough of that crap when I worked there.

Once again at Central and Lake/Corcoran......over a week ago a city employee was killed by random gun fire while walking with his 8yr old nephew. He was not the intended target, the shitbird behind him was the target. Plus, there is also a mental health/but house at 321 N Central. Total Bedlam over in that area.

This is absolutely a deplorable act. When is the CTA going to put up symbols of a red slashed circle with a knife in it, at EVERY bus stop or entrance to a CTA facility. Are they going to wait till there are mass knifings before they enact this extremely working symbol that ALL criminals heed.

Implant a chip in felons and those with mile long rap sheets. Next ban them from the CTA. Install scanners at all entrances and get alerts when these mofo's are around. Pick them up, house them for a bit in the graybar hotel. In all seriousness though, pass an ordinance that felons are no longer permitted on the CTA. Those found in violation now have an additional charge against them. I'm sure the howls from certain quarters would be heard miles away. Either that or make the penalties for assaults, robberies on public trans so prohibitive that it might cut down on crime.

Yes he was the best just ask him! He left quickly got that commanders pension and another 6 figure job running Navy Pier security he is great like I said just ask him he will tell you! Cindy is no different except having a lot less coppers in the unit!

We should pass out cards with an address on North Hermitage they can set up camp right there,and they get 24/7 police protection and as a bonus when rahms valets run out for food and coffee they could take orders from these "poor people" and rahm would gladly pay to help them! Then when the fleet of gas hogging suburbans pull up to take rahms family citywide they are always extra seats available they could drop off the homeless at various locations downtown to wander and pick them up at night alleviating the slashing crew with a place to go! when it is cold out they could use rahms basement (Wedding dress move over) to warm up,and of course keep the bathrooms and shower area open!
Lets take this farther the valets could deliver fresh towels and robes to amke them comfortable that would be showing richie rich rahm cares for the homeless whose probems he has caused right rahm?
an guns, ban knives why not get to the heart of problem and ban community members. One kid on welfare and your done having kids. Father one illegitimate child and your done fathering children. Real simple solution to a problem that has pleagued us for the last 50 years. It has to start somewhere if community members won't take personal responsibility then society will do it for you. Eliminate the CTA and let everyone Unber or Lift. Sounds silly but willing to bet if you add up cost of public transportation might actually save city money. No more buses to buy and maintain, no more escalating drivers and employee salaries to pay and no more pension obligations. Someone with all the numbers should look at this as a viable option. Also Uber and Lift would be safer then current CTA situation.
Cameras record crime they don't stop crime. Unless there is that can accurately identify the picture of peeps what's the point. Oh yea will be used to prosecute in the unlikely event ever arrested and charged. Even then will be given a sentence so light they laugh when sentenced. Reason to carry on all CTA rides.
Lets review the last several months on crime is down. Not safe downtown or riding the CTA. Carjacking new crime of the year with little no no chance of stopping that soon. Parking car on city street not safe, epidemic of car breaking and stolen catalytic converters. Previously safe neighborhoods no longer safe as the criminals are smart enough to migrate to those areas with money and a lower police presence. Finally stupid alderman wants to insure a safe neighborhood get infected with the criminals that section 8 housing will bring. But your being told crime is down and the streets are safe. My advice is keep voting democratic and you will only get safer.
My prayers to the woman, many people can barely afford this f'in shithole and have to ride the CTA.

Whenever I see advice on CC, I always am amazed that semi-automatics are prevalently suggested.
With rare, and wise, exceptions, always with the semi cheerleading.
No mention of the functional drawbacks to semi CC, nor the removal of a substantially clean scooting after shooting.
For those who sincerely don't merely hope to never have to, but are, deep down, going to hesitate because of this sincere desire to not.....the primary possible benefit of CC will be brandishing + hoping that the predator(s) choose to flee, without a solid notion of what to do when they don't.
For these not truly committed individuals, a semi is a tool more complicated to use than they are likely capable of effectively doing more than brandishing.
Thos who have offered much more practical, and effective, advice on the choice of CC can specify, as the blog permits, their own make, model, style and fodder for those to whom CC is more than a trending fad.

I wonder if Oak park taxes supplements to have extra coppers there to keep the feral youth from completely invading ....

IT STARTED DOWN HILL after Graber. !st female commander satrted letting cta call the shots. Second doing the same but getting worse. Soon cta will be giving jobs to Special Employ. Graber left after the Feds came in and asked what happened to all the federal funds that was given to 701 for cars and weapons. The city stole the money and he refused to take the heat. He was moved to 1 st district and left from there to navy pier.
By the way Comm Sams has more manpower now.
