As a citizen I cannot see any good for the community coming from this. Dart has done enough with Kim Fox and look where we are today.
Convicted felons vote in every election in Illinois and the state has no effective mechanism to purge them from the voter rolls.

Ex-cons who have served their time can vote in Illinois. They don't have to get any expungement or anything else. If you're serving time, you can't vote. If you're served your time, you can. It's always been that way, even back when the Italians and Irish filled the jails and prisons.

100 years ago the Wasps had a primitive blog complaining about the Irish, Italians and Eastern Europeans.
PO here, i went to one of these two years ago to expunge an old misdemeanor, they took care of free of charge. For those curious it was a plea deal ten years ago so i could keep my job.

In response to JJ, read the law. You can only expunge certain non violent convictions. This applies also to any arrest which ended in an acquittal or not guilty verdict also. If you were arrested and found not guilty, why not get it erased instead of having it show up on a rap sheet years later. And no, you can't expunge any child sex crimes where you were found guilty while you were an adult. This process isn't designed to let violent persons, convicted of serious crimes, get a free pass. Raymond Chandler, the mystery writer, wrote " Having a record just means you didn't know the right people". We all know someone who got a pass because of who they new. And we all knew they were guilty as hell, but never had any paper on them. This just evens the playing field for the non connected.
