Nice CTA Rahm
- A woman on a Chicago Transit Authority bus traveling in the heart of the Magnificent Mile downtown was stabbed in the head by a woman she’d never seen before, officials said Monday.
About 10:15 p.m. on Easter Sunday, police were called to the 600 block of North Michigan Avenue in the Near North neighborhood for a report that a woman had been stabbed.
Police quickly learned the 30-year-old woman was seated on toward the rear of the bus and another woman was sitting behind her. In a statement, police said the 30-year-old did not speak with the woman sitting behind her and there was no interaction between the women before the woman behind her stabbed the 30-year-old in the back of the head with an “unknown object inside of a glove,” officials said.
The woman is described as "homeless." That's it. Nothing else.
So there's one homeless guy out there stabbing software execs in the neck and his girlfriend stabbing strangers in the head. What a wonderful city Rahm has here.

A woman on a bus on one of the City's busiest thoroughfares on Easter Night, no less. Rahm is a dick, and people are tiring of him. No matter who you want in, when it comes to this runoff next year - which will happen - vote anyone but Rahm. Seriously. He is the worst thing that ever happened to Chicago.
Just remember... It was a homeless woman on a CTA bus causing a disturbance at Belmont & Western who shot and killed Officer Rick Francis (RIP).
Many of these homeless have mental problems. NEVER let your guard down.
The CTA desperately needs its own police force. The CPD's Mass Transit Unit is doing a mediocre job at best of keeping public transit users safe, especially elevated train riders. Time for a change.

When will the cta be safe?
To the people that don’t ride the CTA for example on the bosses the bus drivers are encased in a plastic bubble so they could be protected at least somewhat from stabbings and other violent acts! To the general public that does not ride public transit you must see this it is almost like they are put in a casket with a clear lid so you can view them just like when you going to the ghetto neighborhoods where your merchandise is dispensed through bulletproof with a bulletproof carousel tells you house safe this city really is! When you ride the trains for the CTA you also notice the operator is in a locked closet in the train so he or she is relatively safe from the criminals that ride transit system.
Why is it they are not describing in detail all the criminals are that are slicing dicing and Killing innocent people with all the cameras that the mayor brags about yet they’re not giving the public information to protect themselves are these the mayors values?

I agree. The former CTA police did a great job but were disbanded by Jane Byrne. Bring them back. I ride the CTA often, bus and train and never see the police, but I sure see a lot of shady people, lots of panhadlers and beggers and people selling candy for their " sports teams". intimidating women to buy. Come to think of it, time for a new mayor.

Just some thoughts from a 74 senior citizen who left Chicago for rural Montana 21 years ago. I lived two blocks from the Loyola Red Line Station. My daughter would park her car at my place and take the train Down Town. When she came back at night I would wait for her in the station. One night about 8 PM as I was waiting two kids about 12 or 13 were there and they had large pole like clubs in their hands. I told the woman in the fare booth to call 911. These "kids" but to be honest they were "Ghetto Thugs" started to menace people coming through the turnstiles. I took out my OC spray and gave them booth a good dose. They were crawling on the cement one picked up an empty 40 oz, bottle and threw it at me. My daughter came down the stairs and we booked before Chicago's best showed up. I have many more CTA stores that I will share in the future. If it was this bad 2l years ago I can't imagine how bad it is now. I have 3 grandchildren in Orland Park however I have not been back to Chicago in 8 years and have no plans to return. Just sayin......
questions: 1) why would anyone ride the CTA?; 2) why would anyone live in Chicago or Illinois, if they didn't have to (or if they didn't get their families out)?

Took the train to yankee stadium. Cops on the train, and at every stop. This was on a weekday afternoon.
Far superior protection on the trains compared to chicago.

Also many downtown office workers are working from home several days a week. If their management lets them work from home 100%, a lot of them end up moving out of state.

You should have been honored for your positive community engagement. But scooting while the scooting was good was a smart move.
When the Illinois Legislature passed the Concealed Carry bill, they screwed up by not allowing weapons on public transportation.
Sure, they don't want shoot outs on the train. But that means the riders are totally defenseless when they exit.
We need a law that says no public funded bodyguards for elected officials.

Good point actually. If you keep rewarding that behavior you get more of it.
CTA needs to step up with patrols or something. Cameras don't prevent crimes IMHO, they only record it. Excluding public transportation and parks, etc. from CCW was a huge mistake.

If you're going to go that far West, go to Wyoming instead. Better tax environment for retirees. Montana taxes pensions and is known as being tax unfriendly to retirees.
Winters are brutal in both states. Cheyenne, WY is known for having very high winds. May not be the best environment to walk around in when you're 70 or 80 years old.

I'm going to two shows downtown later this year. While public transportation would be more convenient, I won't risk it because of the miscreants running loose in the city. More safety in numbers, I'll come and go with the crowd. If these schmucks try to mess with the Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant) fans, they may get more than they bargained for.
